Hmm still hard to get over this shit. gah but i agree, although hard.
But i mean why would he do that, what point is he trying to prove? are you sure he didnt take them and make change them in anyways or was he straight up stealing?

I wasn't saying it wasn't a bad act and he should get off clean. I'm just saying, you can't look at one side without travelling to the other. And yes he is getting special treatment as he WAS a regular on the BBS and such. The reason others don't get it is because we dont know them. You can consider saying its just a small mistake such as a fender bender because you were driving too fast and couldn't stop in time. Thats also an exaggeration, not minimizing. What you're saying is it's acceptable to blow something out of proportion, but it's not acceptible to reason.
We weren't GIVING him an excuse, we were saying people make mistakes, thats NOT an excuse, thats a fact. People do make mistakes, would you like it if you stole a candy bar and were tried for murder? No you wouldn't but it would be okay with your current reasoning.
I'm sure you'll have an argument back to this as this is how arguments work, there never is a winnar and no one person is going to give it up. So I shallllllll wait till you respond, but for now I gotta go to a football game and my car is dead 8(

I don't think what he did qualifies as a mistake. He knew the rules and knowingly broke them. A bad decision, yes, but not a mistake.

How is that comment justified? I'm not shutting you down, you're entitled to your opinion, but i hate to see a perfectly good person get torn apart after the fact. He accepted the fact that he did something wrong, he never made any excuses for himself, he accepted that he had no excuse.
After all this, why can't we just let it go... The account is gone, so technically "zellers" is gone, so we're talking about a ghost. HIm stealing a song doesn't make him a lesser person. He's still the same zellers you guys have talked to. When i see people saying "oh man I thought he was cool, i talked to him and he seemed it, but now i think he's an ass." Thats totally not justified. He's still the same person, just with a "blip" in his rep if you will. But trashing him won't change anything, and I understand sticking up for him won't either, but it's not right to kick someone when they're down like this.

i agree with this. I have been seeing allot of people saying " i thought he was cool" like he changed or something. He would always take the time to help anyone who needed it so im guessing people acting negative towards him didn't really know him. Speaking of which, have you heard from him? he hasn't been on msn in awhile.

I still have much respect for Zell. He even sent me an flp file so I could check out how he made a song. I can't deny he made quite a big mistake, but really in the end we all know he's a truly capable musician and that's all that should matter. I'm pretty sure he won't ever make this mistake again so I'm not afraid.
Zell if you're reading this, c'mon man. Come back, prepare a semi-lengthy post about how you're sorry if you want, anything. Then we all forget about it and life goes on. No reason to leave forever or to hide behind another account, because that will never be your true self again.

I'm sad that he's gone.
I had respect for him.
Well, the songs that were his were better than those that weren't his anyways.
But still, kind of not a good thing still to know that he did that.

OH! That's WHY! I was wondering why I had 28 comments instead of 30 on my news post! I knew someone disappeared.
He submitted 2 comments. :/

And yes he was a great help to me as well I probably wouldn't be the artist I am today with out his help. Yes we have realized he had made a mistake but he had like 30 awesome songs that weren't stolen. So of course I forgive him I told him that the first time I talked to him. Anyways I also hope he comes back.

I guess thats respectable enough, I'd feel the same way if I didn't know him. But for everyone that knows him this is a big blow, cause he's a really really nice guy.

Thievery is just unacceptable in my eyes... He doesn't even have a good reason, other than to have his ego stroked....
Really sucks, cause he's a talented guy, but talent doesn't absolve you from responsibility and consequence. Too bad he screwed the pooch, hopefully we'll forgive him after penance is done. He certainly isn't getting anywhere hiding from NG though.... >.<

Ever seen professional sports? Talent absolves you from pretty much everything. If you have enough talent, people will bend over backwards in order to help you out.

Oh, c'mon, people. The guy screwed up. His account got deleted.
End of story.
Seriously, there's no reason to discuss this any longer.

So I guess the few exceptions validate your statement? I guess because that happens, you think it's right?
I'm not one to hold a grudge, but he hasn't come on here to face the firing squad. Until he does, he's a bitch in my eyes. He needs to take it like a man, and accept his consequences... Then we can all get along again...

This is pretty appauling imo. The halloween tune he made was submitted for a competition entry. So he submitted something to win against everyone that put effort in, and there were a huge number of entries.
He came first place. And I came second. Im not saying mines was the best, but we all were judged against something stolen. So he submitted something that took no effort just to win and just to get glorified over everyone and anyone else who entered. He knew what he did was wrong which is why he is making a new name. So nobody knows who he is and that he stole songs.
Be inspired by music, recreate the theme, put work into getting that sound of a loved band or composer but to go out your way to beat people with something you havent made. It's pretty shameful. If someone steals an animation its not acceptable. For people that create music, it shouldnt be any different.
