Even though I'm Canadian & not personally involved.
I believe that a change had to be made.
The United States is a HUGE economic engine , that under George Dubya, has now got the largest deficit in it's history. Has allowed the private financial structure to deteriorate to such a state that almost 3/4's of a Trillion dollars has to come from the American Tax payer to bail it out.
Obama will have to fuck up on a massive scale to match this.
Congratulations to you Americans for picking your first black President, I really hope he can get you out of Iraq , but still keep pressure on the terrorist organizations that will never stop trying to destroy our democratic way of life.
Also, Aviewaskewed there was an election here locally last month one of the losers (Sheila Fougere) did not congratulate the person who beat her. She didn't even attend the ceremony of swearing in the newly elected council that she had been on for 10 years .It was big news here in backwater nowhere.
Just bringing it up, because there are people with NO CLASS at all, everywhere on this planet :( unfortunately!
And l close this to all of you who believe the world is ending because Mr McCain lost.
I just got up, the sun is just starting to come up over the horizon, the birds are up I can hear cars taking people to work...the world will go on, so why not give this newly elected person some time in office to see what may then be in store for you . Instead of freaking out without just cause.
Who knows he may be great as a President.
If he sucks we can all come here & bitch ,complain & moan about it... & those of you who said he was no good all along can rub our faces in "just how right you were"
Thanks- More

I only hope he can pull our economy out of the shitter. Don't see how though, seeing as we're 10 and a half trillion dollars in debt*. It'll be hard, I'm interested to see how he handles things.
This is a signature. Enjoy it while you can .
I'm willing for people to use my voice in any flashes if they need it. Pm me if interested. (I use audacity.)

A youthful approach? You mean ill-informed and fool-hearted one? All I keep hearing is change change change. Congrats guys, you are now "part of history" by electing a black president. Your selflessness and patriotism shine through even racial barriers.... It seems as though the majority of young voters did it all to prove some point. I'd be pissed if I was Barack. He won solely by the color of his skin. Talk about a bittersweet win... I'm sorry, I must get back to grillin' up my opossum and beating my sister/wife.

As opposed to your bigoted one? Yes, I rather think so.

Not at all. A lot of people would think that, because they can't understand that he seems like a different politician. Let us at least give the man a change to get into office and do something, before you carry on slating him.

Well, there's a good 6 weeks before that date for you to bleach the bloodstains out of your clan robes. Better get scrubbing

Well, I couldn't vote for either one of those guys. The Mainstream Media treatment of Ron Paul proved to me that a truly anti-establishment type will never be taken seriously by the MSM or the 2-Party Monopoly even if he or she belongs to one of those major parties. But that said, I was glad to see Obama win. I hope he does a great job.
At least his election can be taken as a loud, clear message to the Republicans: drop the saber-rattling and preemptive war bullshit. Stop pandering to the most powerful economic interests on the planet (which I don't expect Mr. Obama to do either, but...) Tell the "Religious Right" to fuck off.
Those are the messages I'd like to see delivered, but I doubt anyone in those camps will accept them.
In any event, people voted for change, and they got it. I am, at least, enjoying this historic moment: the first non-white U.S. President Elect... with a foreign-sounding name no less! That sends an important message in itself.
Congratulations, Mr. Obama, and Good Luck!

You proved my point tenfold. Because I'm against Obama, I'm a bigot? Ooooooh big words coming from a very tiiiiiiny person. That's why this election's a joke. Race played a part in the race. That should be the LAST thing to worry about. I disagree with Obama's policy, NOT his color. The race card is ALWAYS on the top of the deck....*sigh* I mean you even gave in to the very thing I was being sarcastic about. I totally knew this was coming...LOL
You made my day. You just prove how ignorant most Obama-supporters are.
OBAMA WINZ U LUSERZ. LOLZ HEZ GUNNA CHENGE TEH WURLD! HE PROMIZED US LOTZ OF MONIEZ AND CHENGEZ... OBAMA '08!!!!
A joke.

I apologize for my offense, but it wasn't directed at African-Americans. I was poking fun at the majority of those who are paranoid about Obama taking all their guns away and African-Americans ruling America, which is a silly idea.

I love these clowns claiming Obama supporters are all racists and they only voted for him because he was black.
People wanted change, I think Mccain was a good candidate, its just that Bush fucked it up for him. That and choosing Palin..

Hey Liberal American-Hater..........Those Welfare Recipients should be hiring all kinds of new workers, right ???......... They should be creating new jobs with their welfare spread, right libs ???........ The spreading of the wealth should be opening new businesses and employing all kinds of new jobs, right libs ??? Wrong, welfare recipients buy crack with the handouts, not hire workers......

I really think you guys should be prepared for an average president. Maybe everyone's got their hopes up a bit too much.
I'm just pleased he seems a little better than Bush, and it's FINALLY the end of the Bush era, fucking Hell, it's really relieving when I consider it. Maybe Obama's foreign policy is a bit better; he did talk about aggression with Pakistan which is a smart idea but there's a chance it'll spark a war that'll kill us all, and a bigger chance it'll pan out to be devastating for a large chunk of the globe.
That Jerimiah Wright shit was fucked up though, wasn't it?

I'm not expecting much. Average is better than worse or same to me.

True. The only Democrat I think of that took war well was FDR.

I'm more pleased at it being the end of the dominance of the Reagan/Rove right and McCain/Palin not being in power than I am at an Obama presidency. I imagine the status quo will largely go unchecked. Tbf I'm hoping he's secretly more liberal than he's letting on, and stuff like the Pakistan/Catch Bin Laden bullshit was just to widen his appeal. And with him inheriting the US in it's worst state since the early 20th Century I hope there isn't a massive backlash in '12 when everything will still be quite shit and a regressive shift back to the right occurs.

Now "all" he has to do is actually deliver. I wouldn't expect anything supernatural; the euphoria is completely over the top. Sure it may be a defining moment in history but I wouldn't necessarily bank on it. He'll certainly do his best to improve things but don't expect a messiah.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR MY COUNTRY TO BE DESTROYED. Gee, I even hope that because Obama's so bad with economics, I lose my job and that because he's weak with terrorism my city gets bombed! THAT WOULD BE GREAT!

So if our president is pretty much the reflection of our country does that mean we are getting smarter... or blacker?

This is, indeed, great news. If I was American, I would've voted for him, too. I may not be the smartest man in the world, but I believe he's a much better choice than John McCain.

Hopefully this will make people all over the world see that there are good and bad Black people just like there are good and bad people of all races.
Hopefully, Blacks will begin to have hope and realize that education does pay off. Hopefully, they'll stop attacking people like me for not being "thugs" and start cleaning up their acts. Hope in one hand...

I was very happy last night witnessing the great national reform of our executive branch that was to become reality as the screen showed double the number electoral votes for Obama compared to McCain. When I woke up for school after I got dressed I quickly tuned in to CNN and was pleased to see the electoral votes dramatically increase from around 160 last night to about 336 electoral votes that morning. When school started I was in my first period. The principal came on the speaker and mentioned how the school is still one and united, referring to outlying concerns that he had that people in the school would gloat over Obama's win. But nonetheless he referred to Obama as Mr. Obama and President which made me happy.
The most dramatic event was in my U.S./VA government class where my teacher gave a half hour speech that explained how this was a significant and massive leap forward and how we will be able to speak with the world on fair terms through diplomacy. How we can relate to the world and how people all over the world were celebrating for the US. From Japan and France to Nigeria my teacher was explaining how this president can give new meaning and refreshing change to how we will be able to bring peace and understanding to other countries door steps.

True, but if it means that I never have to listen to those horrible soundbites ever again I will be very very happy.
