Just wondering, has anyone else gotten attacked by a deathclaw early in the game? i remember around the time I was level 4 or 5 I had found the slave sanctuary, so I was just walking around seeing what was there. I turned a corner and saw some big ass thing go flying around the wall. Before I could even enter VATS, I was dead!

That thing scared the shit out of me, but I have no idea why it was there so early.

Any ideas?

Anyway, I am doing the Slave Trade quest called "Just Buisness." I had to go to Germantown to capture a slave so I went into the police station to look around. While I was in there, I found some terminals with call logs on recent emergency calls. I then found this HILARIOUS log.

911 Dispatcher: "911, what is the nature of your emergency?"

Man: "(Excitedly) The wings on my shoes shrunkand now the moths wont eat my kidneys! When I shake my state capitol only yields three fairy napkins but how, (Interrupted)"

I've nearlly got most of the achievement missions done and I hit level 20 on my evil character finally.

yeah lol. I also found a note that said

"Flying Bananas cant talk"

about 33 times and then said they cant talk because you cant hear them or something lol. I love how Bethesda puts in little funny easter eggs scattered along the Wasteland.

I found that too, while rescuing Red during "Big Trouble in Big Town". I saved Shorty too, but he died during the Super Mutant retaliatory strike. I never got to actually see the new gun that one guy was so proud of, either.

Only a few things left to do: Kill all Behemoths, Hack 10 more terminals, collect 9 more bobbleheads, etc.. I might start a new game as an evil character just to get the achievements. Probably not.

I got attack at night in front of the Super Duper Mart but the ghouls there weakened it so I killed it and took the claw and made the DeathClaw Gauntlet
I think you got attack because everything happens randomly at different times

By the way, I just found a place called Bethdesda Ruins. Guess they ran out of names to call places... or their studio is actually located in DC but I highly doubt that.

Also, I found a tiny town over-run by deathclaws. It took me forever to beat them all, but I got a huge chunk of XP out of it. I am trying to achieve the higest level possible before I finish the main questline.

Nah, but you can get ambushed by Hitmen if you screwed Mr. Burke over (meaning: dismantled the Megaton nuke).

Because the Fallout series doesn't actually take place in our world, but in the world that people imagined in the 50's as a high-tech future. They just kept the over-all idea of the world they lived in, and threw in a couple of robots, lasers and similar things, to make it feel sci-fi. Also, the threat of nuclear apocalypse was a "popular" idea at the time, so it all fits in.

Actually, Bethesda Softworks is is Rockville, Maryland, which is very close to Washington D.C. The city of Bethesda, Maryland is also within 20 miles of the capital. If you don't believe me, just look at a map.

The population was only around 1 billion in the 1500s... it took thousands of years just to get to one billion. And then 500 years to get to 7 billion because technology was worked on.
