Well, I'd better get this in before I get banned. I am approaching Level 8, and in the story have just escorted the scientists to the Project Purity site. I now need to pull the flood lever, or some such nonsense. Preparing for the super mutant onslaught, because I just know it's going to be in some God-forbidden section of the Jefferson Memorial.

Hey guys, just saw this thread and figured I'd post a few notes before joining. No worries, no spoilers here.

So, first off, I'd like to say that Fallout 3 is not an oblivion clone with guns, I really don't like it when people say that. If you research it, fallout was released before elder scrolls and fallout 3, in my opinion as a hardcore fallout fan, really resembles the original 2 fallouts, gameplay-wise. So I'd have to say that Oblivion resembles fallout, and not vice-versa.
Second, I do not enjoy fallout 3 as an "FPS RPG". It's dumb that Bethesda used that shitty engine, and I find the animations way too stiff and the fighting too sloppy, thank god V.A.T.S. is in the game. So yeah, I do not play it in first Person.
I'd also like to mention that Fallout tactics was meh and fallout: Brotherhood of steel was a huge dissapointment, so when you want to talk about the previous fallout games, please say the "last 2 games" not "the last THREE (or FOUR) games". The shitty fallout games were not cannon, so it's better if they are not mentioned.
And my final point: If you're gonna be playing fallout 3, please make sure you are not one of those mindless xbox360 halo players. Because Fallout is a game for the smart, it requires thought and being able to do the right choices, do not skip text and jump straiight into action, the storyline and quests are IMPORTANT.

That is all.

I guess I'll join this club then. lol.

Alright your in MadSoft. By the way Death, you can not get banned, I just want you to post as often as you can to keep the thread active. ;)

As for my opinion on Fallout 3, I really do enjoy it. the physics engine has a lot of glitches such as floating objects, blood not splattering when it is supposed to, and going through some graphics. However, the time and effort the Graphic designers put in to creating this EXTREMLEY MASSIVE game, it far to much to say the game's engine is "shitty" I enjoy the engine wuit well in 1st person, actually. My favorite thing to do is use the V.A.T.S system on weak animals because it is HILARIOUS when they explode to the awesome 50's style music playing on your Pip-Boy.

It uses the same engine that Bolivion uses, but it fixes many glitches... though it still has some. I dont care that it is Oblivion with guns anyway... A fun game is a fun game.

I have a lot to explore in the game's world.

This game just keeps getting better.
I came across a pretty funny bug today. I used the Fat man to kill a Super mutant behemoth, i missed, but the impact made him fly high up in the air, and he died when he fell down.

It's not a bug, it's called "Bethesda's shitty engine". *sigh*
If only they had worked on a new, better engine...

The "shitty engine" you're referring to is the Gamebryo engine, which is used in Oblivion too, indeed. But it's not Bethesda's engine. (I just read this engin was used in Freedom Fighters too, that was the first game I played that had ragdolls) The problem is the whole ragdoll thing. Sometimes when I kill a bad guy, the corpse bounces through the room, shaking like crazy (I am sure everyone saw that once).

Anyway, I've been playng this game since last week, and I'm totally mesmerized by it! I always have this problem when I play a really good game, (like WoW, Oblivion, CoD4 and yes, even S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) I just can't stop playing! The last few days I went to sleep at about 3.00 am, even at school I play it when the teacher's gone.
I love everything about it, the huge environment, the home-made guns, the V.A.T.S. system, the RPG elements (especially the perks). But the thing I love the most is Dogmeat, my pal for life!

Lol, your definition of "good game" is really off...
And yes, fallout is amazing. But I just feel sorry for those who didn't know what it was before fallout 3 came out. If you liked the 3rd, then I suggest looking up fallout 1 and 2.

No, it was for a thread I made in General. I was expecting to get banned, but Malachy just deleted 10 posts. A fair excange, I say.

It uses the same engine that Bolivion uses, but it fixes many glitches... though it still has some. I dont care that it is Oblivion with guns anyway... A fun game is a fun game.

I've only noticed one major glitch so far. It was when I was crossing a large bridge on my way to Rivet City. I looked to my right, which I think was south, and saw the environment was appearing and disappearing, and black lines were flashing towards me. It was an odd experience. I've yet to go back and see if it's still there.

I have a lot to explore in the game's world.

Me too. I'm still a little tentative, seeing as how I'd like to keep my 9 Stimpaks as long as possible, due to my general lack of money.

good to see this coming along. I haven't been playing that much since I beat the story but I'll get to it eventually.

Just to let everyone know, Fallout 1 is avaible for free at...Some site I forgot. And fallout 2 is about $5 at gog.com. Each is great, and really expands the experience of FO3 if you play 'em.

And the FO2 soundtrack is amazing.

So, after a long playing session, I am in Little Lamplight, trying to reach Vault 87. The problem is, I can't open the back gate, and Princess sure as hell won't open it for me. How did you guys get past this little problem?

I JUST COMPLETED FALLOUT 3 - ENDING - OBVIOUS SPOILERS

Once you get that Vial from President Eden, then go to the Citadel, give the Vial to the Elder, then follow his huge robot thing to the Control Room for Project Purity.

I advise you save in a seperate file, because as soon as you go in the control room with Sentinel Lyons, you cannot exit the room. Go up, kill Colonel Autumn, input 2-1-6 as a password, activate Project Purity.

Then you die, (you get an achievement for completing the quest on the 360 version) and it's back to the title screen.

It's game over either way, it doesn't matter if you or Lyons activates the Project.

HOWEVER, if you keep the Vial and contaminate the project, well I don't know what will happen and if it ends the game or not, but I will check this out.

SPOILERS END

I'll join.

I've clocked up around 30 - 40 hours on this and I'm still addicted...

<Possible but not really a Spoiler>
Anyway a good recommendation for getting money is do the Reilly's Rangers quest early on then once you've explored, you get a shit load of money when you see them.
</Possible but not really a Spoiler>

Anyway, I'm level 17, look like Gordon Freeman and I'm in love with Fawkes

That is all.

Really, everyone here is like, in the upper teens in the way of levels, or have beaten the game. Maybe I'm just slow.

But I like to think of it as "enhancing the experience". Like Jet.

I had the same problem and it drove me insane. Go talk to the mayor and tell him you need to get back there.

Thanks. I got into Vault 87 alright, but what confuses me is that the arrow is gone. You know, the flashing green arrow that shows you where to go? It up and left on me. Does that mean the G.E.C.K. is no longer in Vault 87?

The barrage of Super Mutants never ends in there.

Well, i would respond to every message... but once I saw the word PRINCESS... Lol, I dont want to know anything about the game. I want to figure it out for myself. ;)

I will respond to what I think about the physics engine though. The engine itself it VERY complicated, and therefore has glitches. The glitches make the game more fun in my opinion. Without errors in the engine, i couldn't send enimies flying around a room lol. :D

And besides, the game has such fantastic graphics and gameplay, that one forgets about the glitches and focuses on the storyline and the atmosphere.

P.S. Has anyone realized that you get MORE XP when playing on a harder difficulty? Cause it happens. My favorite weapon so far is the Plasma Rifle.

So, I just beat it. I was fairly satisfied with the ending. I chose to activate Project Purity, sacrificing myself. Next time I go through, I think I'll be the total asshole, blow up Megaton, all that jazz.

Loved it. I especially loved Liberty Prime.

Yes, what IS Project Purity? All I've given is a name. You mean you aren't that far in the story yet? Enjoying the multitude of side-quests? Oh yes, and I've started my second jaunt through the game, as a girl. And I am wondering what repercussions killing the Overseer in the initial escape from 101 will have. That, and I am now mutated because of Moira.

Her voice is annoying.

Not as in depth as FO3 but in Bioshock, System Shock 2, and Deus Ex: The Invisible War, they let you choose your path and how you play the game. i.e; sneaky, shoot 'em up, ect.

Mass Effect, perhaps?

I will not type anything substantial in this area due to the harmful and permanent effects it could have on my reputation.

Hey, I thought i would bring up the Bioshock resemblance again. The game has that 50's music style to it, yet based in the future. I think it is really cool how the game creators choose to do that.

So, level 14, almost 15, and I'm just wandering around looking for something to make me interested; a quest, perhaps.

*SPOILERS*

I just killed everyone at Paradise Falls and I just came from Old Olney and killed a bunch of Deathclaws and I now plan to find Little Lamplight and do stuff there.

I'm gonna go back to my room and be awesome.

Oh, dear. Then you'll have to think of an alternative way to finish Tranquility Lane. But, if you're reffering to what TacticalShoe said, then it's alright. Paradise Falls is a community of slavers. Killing them won't lower your karma.

Wow. I'm waiting to do that. Megaton is my only way of surviving in the early stages of the game, and if I destroyed it, I'd be up shit's creek without a paddle.

Though, I am considering killing Moriarty.
