4.07 / 5.00 10,082 ViewsI know this has potentially been posted before, either on this section of the forums or another area but I could do with a little help regarding software used in movies.
Me and my best mate are potetnailly looking at making our first movie, however although I am the implementer into the this and programmer for certain aspects, whereas he is designing and coming up with the ideas, I am unsure of the best type of flash to use.
I have been looking around the Internet and thus far haven't really been able to find anything decent to download for free or purchase from places like Amazon.
Some of the best ones on the market I have been seeing at the moment are approximately £500-£600 pound in price and are some of the best. Others are slightly more mediocre but are more around my price range of £50-£100.
Any suggestions on what Flash Maker I should look at purchasing or downloading would be really helpful.
Thanks.
I'd get flash 8 professional. That is the best for what you need(cheapness but still having quality).
Cool, thanks for the suggestion. Will look into that.
By the way, Amazon and most other websites (including the Adobe Flash website) is currently out of stock on those so will have to look around I guess.
Sorry about this, just one further question.
I am about to buy Adobe Flash CS4 Professional for my future projects. However, I am unsure whether I also need any other software with this, i'm a base starter game and animation programmer so not entirely sure what I actually need software wise.
Any help would be appreciated.
lol, you sound like a child trying to use the best english he possibly can... don't use big words if you don't know where they go D:
Oh... how the fuck can you be out of stock on software?
Don't order the cd, do a paid download.
Flash 8 looks to me like the most balanced version of flash so far. CS3/CS4 is a bit excessive, and mx is kinda lacking, with a kinda-bad interface and lots of crashing.

No offence mate, I came onto this part of the forum asking for some help. Although you have provided me with some form help (using lightly), your ignorance has amazed me to be honest.
Big words? Well, just to point out my English Grammar and Puntuation skills are far above the level of knowledge you have just shown. I also work within an office which sends out facsimiles, letters and emails on a daily basis and 70% of the time these have to be hand written.
Thus now knowing this information, why would I honestly spend my time proof reading and legitimising my style of written vocabulary just so it suits your needs, when I do this on a daily basis?
For the question "Oh... how the fuck can you be out of stock on software?", want to go onto Amazon, Adobe, Ebuyer.com and some various other 'United Kingdom' based websites and find the whole set actually in stock? For the CD purchase that is.
I wish to purchase the CD version, so I know I have it and don't need search through the Internet trying to locate it again if something happens to my computer at a later date.
Now to quote against you 'lol, you sound like a child', for the record I am 23 years of age and have just shown a higher level of intellect in this post than you can ever comprehend without swearing, except for the information I have quoted.

Surely a company as big as the one you work for would have a CD burner...?
Anyway, anything that's not an official Macromedia/Adobe product just plain isn't worth it. I'd go with CS4 just because that's the newest one and anything lower will eventually be outdated. At least if you start with AS3 you won't have to relearn a new language once AS2 becomes completely archaic.

We do have CD Burners, just thats saved for the Web Design department, the lowly levels of my skill rank in the "customer services" enviroment don't get squat lol.
Cool, thanks for the input on Flash CS4 tempted to get that as its not at a bad price at the moment on one website. Wouldn't generally go with anything which was Adobe or Macromedia.

Wow. Look who can't take a joke.
Exactly why do you want the cd version?
The software is cheaper, and as these other guys have already said, it's not hard to burn a cd.
And again, this is the internet. There are these cool things called 'Jokes' floating around... don't have to get all pissy because some 16 year old on the internet decided to comment on your post.
And i provided all the help you could possibly need.
>> DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE, DON'T BUY THE CD.
What the hell do you want me to do about amazon being out of stock? I can't ask adobe to start making more cd's of a product so old. They've already got two more versions of flash released, CS3 and CS4, which explains Flash Pro 8 being out of stock.
Meaning, you can't do anything at the moment to get the cd. Again, pay for the download, and burn it as backup. Besides, even without burning it, you don't have to worry about it going corrupt and whatnot. Send adobe a digital receipt, i'm sure they'll send you an e-mail with a free download.
Hahaha, you're calling ME ignorant.
Oh, and just because you obviously want to start shit;
You're 23 years old and you're looking to START flash? Flash is a beginner program. Many a 12 year old have been using it on newgrounds for quite some time, and believe me, they're a lot better than you ever will be with it. By now, you should have a degree, and if that degree doesn't pertain to animation in any way, then i doubt you will get very far with flash anyway. At that age, i would be expecting advanced coding or 3d animation.
You've already made yourself look stupid, just buy the download and don't bother responding.

Look mate, when you have took a four year gap out of studies due to real life issues I won't have a dgree. I am in the process of going back to college, retaking some exams and going onto University and getting a degree in Games Programming.
Flash animation is going to a be side hobbie of mine to build up a portfolio for University and work related information.
Also, do you honestly want me to pull your original post apart regarding the out of stock issue? If you re-read the post you may see what I am wanting to point out.
You only helped on reiterating what the first guy writ about, also how do expect me to laugh at something which is not even funy?
When you get a little older, get a job which doesn't rely on your parents expenditure, also having some clue about real life and taking into consideration why people don't have a degree in there chosen field by my age then you can come back and comment.
I did not come here to start crap, I came here to ask for advise on software, not put up with a perpetulent 16 year old brat who has barely learned how to tie his own show laces.
By the way, to add to that post, if you are going to post again, I have put some simple grammar and spelling mistakes in the post, if you can spot them.
First off, both of you drop the grammar nazi war its only derailing the original point to this thread.
Going back into the real meaning of your first post, if you're looking to create good flash movies and/or games you will have to put down some big money - larger than 100 pounds sadly.
Flash 8 is all good and great if you already have it but paying for it now is not worth the price it will be unless you find an used copy or clearance price.
You mentioned that you're going back to school, have you already been accepted?
Being a student can slash the cost of adobe products greatly and save you tons of money.
For example, I only had to play just over 700 Canadian dollars after tax to purchase a license key to the adobe master suite collection (all adobe cs3 products). This was done through my school and I believe doing it through adobe it self only adds an extra 100 which is great compared to the 2000+ non-student price.
Doing so will mean that yes you will have to download them - most likely cs4 copies for you.
But honestly a DVD burner now a days is 20 pounds if even that. If you are really stubborn in regards to having a DVD burnt by adobe in a pretty box, you will be missing out on great deals and savings.
People will tell you to get either flash 8, flash cd3, or wait for flash cs4 to be released soon. Honestly it shouldn't matter much but I would go for the newest because that is where you can abuse your student prices from adobe or even from your school itself.
Hope this helps you make your choice. (if it seems expensive remember that if you can make a flash game that looks half good you could get it sponsored and make it all back in one go.)
PS. I am dyslexic so don't rape my grammar.

Hey man, if you're looking for something cheaper try Flash MX 2004 -- if Adobe stocks it or not I'm not sure (Mx and Flash 8 were owned my Macromedia, CS3-4 Adobe). A lot of people like Flash 8, but again, I've got no idea whether or not Adobe supplies it.
You don't need any other software to use Flash, unless you want to add personalized things to it; like plugins (extra colour palette, movieclip tools etc). If you're a student you can get a student discount.
Cool, thanks for the help.
Don't worry to the first guy, I only start going "Grammar Nazi" on people who give me abuse first and both of the last two posts have given me more than enough help.
I haven't been accepted yet onto the Games Programming courses, unfortunately I am having to re-take Mathematics and English at our countries GCSE level which is the high school level before I can apply to University.
The Mathematics and English are part time night courses which last for just short of a year, so they arn't full time, so it is doubtful I will get discounts on that, but it is worth a shot at looking so it is appreciated you bringing that to my attention.
I have a DVD/CD burner on my computer, the whole computer would be worthless if I didn't have one, especially to say I spent close to £1,200.00 building it and Ihere are still upgrades I can do to it. Either way, I will look at that and just dump the software on my 1 terabyte external hard drive (only got because it was on offer).
Also, yeh I have been looking around various places, the whole of Flash Professional 8 is around £600.00 for a used copy and just getting CS4 new is around £500.00, in CD form. So I have considered taking out a loan for that one.
Main reason why I am trying to get software like this is to build a portfolio, have a few games, flashes even show I can build a website within there. This is due to me not expecting to get great grades in my Mathematics, although I need a C in Mathematics and I will possibly get it, I also want back-up plans for the just in case scenario.
Well, I got Adobe Flash CS4 in the end, the CS3 edition was about £50.00 more on Amazon.co.uk so you can imagine which I went with....
Anyway, thanks for all the help which has been provided and be on the look out for some animation being posted within the next few months by myself and my mate.
