Mac8 FiF Results!

Sincerest apologies for the late result! A lot going on, but enough whining, let's get this show on the road! This MAC was MAD hard to judge, i'm not going to lie. I think most the judges will agree with me when I say

"well dayuuuuum."

There was a LOT of really great submissions this time around. Really. Really hard to choose the winners, and truth be told a subjective theme opens doors to subjective results, but I was very surprised at how united the judges seemed this time around, and I agree with them. With that I think we were all somewhat on the same wavelength on judging.

I personally looked not only at unique elements, song structure as well, but a good deal at production as well.

Thats a bit unfair dont you think...there were some really good trance entries like JohnnyFrizz's Believe Again and Neodrummer's Airless Gravity ^^

I honestly don't know the reasoning behind the judge scores per judge. I trust their opinions. Like I said a subjective MAC like this opens doors to subjective opinions. I was honestly expecting to lose entire days on trying to find the middle ground between completely polar judge results but this wasn't the case.

Hey, congrats to everyone. Honestly, i knew that the Ambient and Classical ones were gonna win because that's much more of a better genre to create the flying type of songs.

I agree with Andrea and also I noticed the first places were really short songs, not even longer than 3 mins! Think about it, the artists that made 6, 7 or 8 minute songs worked their asses out to get those tracks done perfecting and mastering them when the ones that won could have putted more effort on their entries.....(for example in my opinion the second place was an extremely repetitive song).

Think about it, the artists that made 6, 7 or 8 minute songs worked their asses out to get those tracks done perfecting and mastering them when the ones that won could have putted more effort on their entries.....(for example in my opinion the second place was an extremely repetitive song).

I know, people just dont like Progressive trance on newgrounds, and probably dont really know what trance is.

They just suspect that it's like dance except a little bit lighter in sound. It's not at all.

Guys, quit your bitchin'. I'm disappointed that I'm not on the top 10 list (again...) but seriously, complaining about song length and genre? I don't think the judges were biassed against trance, obviously, Maestro accepts their judgement, so I don't see why you should disagree with the results. Judging is about the songs themselves, not the genres or length. Who's to say that a person creating a classical or ambient work doesn't put in MORE effort in their less-than-three-minute song than the perfect mcperfect person who made the 7 minute trance song.
If you don't like the results, do something other than complain, I recommend either shutting up, going away or stepping up to the plate and judging a MAC in the future. It's an insult to the judges, and it's an insult to every single person who competed in this competition.

The amount of effort put into a song will never equate to how "good" the song will be. And while the trance submissions, albeit good, may be twice as long as the classical submissions that placed, trance generally uses multiple patterns that loop over while in a classical composition each instrument's part is carefully put together note by note. More importantly, do these submissions work with the imagery that you were given compared to those genres that placed?
