but... keyframing vs tweening, performance wise/size, which is better to do? does it make a difference?

Tweening creates a much more smooth animation. While using Keyframes on there own, it will be jumpy instead of flowing.

Yeah, if you suck dick at animating.

There's no real different performance-wise, I don't think, but frame by frame animation tends to look much smoother if you know what you're doing. That's not to say that tweening doesn't look good if you use it properly, but a lot of amatuer animators tend to abuse it.
