I don't think that's a typical last name for an Italian-American. There is an "oe" in it. If you pronounce it like it's spelled in Italian, it sounds odd. As Americans, my family just pronounces that part with a long "o."

Despite the spelling, I like my last name. The fact that it's uncommon makes me like it even more.

It could always be worse. In fact, did you know that "Phuc" is a fairly common last name in Vietnam?

My last name is Prelletz (Prel-its)

I got a lot of hassling from schoolmates calling me 'Pretzel' as a child, but it never really was a big deal. I love how unique my name is though. As far as I know, me and my direct family members (uncles, aunts and cousins), are the only Prelletz's in the world (Only about 10 of us). At least this is what Google tells me.

I've been meaning to do some research on my past family for shits and giggles, but never get around to it.
