my guess is that it would be similar to what happens when a kid decides not to go to school or person decides that laws dont apply to them anymore

Like if I was put into slavery, I would rather be dead then be a slave, so I would have no problem killing the slave master. Wouldnt matter if I got payed or anything. You can make a prison look like a hotel but it is still a prison.

and you would rather kill another person than live life as a slave, makes me think. but I dont think many people are getting the point hes not really talking about conventional slavery, in fact theres no way of knowing how life would be as a Funk-Slave as I dont think it has ever happened

Like if someone proves that they can manage money and ake care of themselves, can they go free or are they forced to be slaves for much longer? And if they win their freedom, are they put under lower class people, by law I mean. In society I am sure they would be seen as lower people. That also brings up another issue. If a slave gains freedom, are their records of being a slave wiped clean? If they are known that they were slaves, then people would not see them as people. Not all.

yeah I see what you mean, that form of descrimination might happen

Now when I said it is easy to condem others, you put it saying that it is actually easy to get others to do your things, but you missed my point. Sure it is easy to condem others, but what if you were chosen to be a slave. Would you still be for it? Dont dodge it by saying that you wuldnt be a slave.

Heheeheee, I dont think he would have a choice

on another thought, the idea sounds a little bit like how the vikings did things
there were Thralls - the slaves - people who would work for nothing and thier wellbeing depended on thier owner
there were Jarls - people who were either born free or had brought themselves (I still dont know how they earnt the money to buy themselves) and lived on a lords land
and there
and there were Earls - the landowners

my point is that in that system is that a motivated slave can by their freedom

Other than the obvious "human rights" violations, I don't have much to argue about. Would autistic or otherwise handicapped individuals be subject to the same system?

The idea here is not to keep people in slavery, but actuality FORCE them to value their freedom by not treating it like a right, but a privliedge.
How would this cut down on golden-parachuting con artists?

Gentlemen that is not even an option We would not just be infringing on there natural rights but on the whole constitution , ... well most of it. Just think what does America stand for? If you thougt Freedom than you are correct sir. Slavery would be taking away that very thing, freedom, and thus they would no longer be Americans. If the slave masters and ordinary people let that happen then the wouldn't be American. We,as a country, would no longer be America!

I agree entirely with your theory, but I wouldn't call it slavery. Maturity training period, or life training, or something like that. You don't want to p*s* people off with a good idea. Also, much like communism in it's original form, the one that came just before actually using it, this is a great idea that will get r*p*d by pathetic excuses for humans who think they can profit excessively from it. It would eventually lead to a more accurate form of slavery, which would of course result in a complete turnaround. People who are smart enough to see how bad it is at that point would then be made slaves by the rich idiots. The ones who's rich parents of today will buy them past the test you set tomorrow. See? No matter how good your idea is, no matter how well you market it, it will eventually bite you in the *s*. I do wish something could be done like this, but I also fear what will happen if it does manage to succeed.
