Maybe try looking at She, The Ultimate Weapon. It's a love story with quite a lot of violence in it, well more dying than blood etc. it is also perverted in places trying to have sex etc. The extra 2 episodes are also filled with breasts for some reason so that might be your cup of tea.

Firefly is way better. Obviously the action is toned down because of the lower budget, but the dialogue is much sharper, and it makes much better use of the cowboys in space aspect of it.

Also, Battlestar Galactica seasons 1, 2, and some of 3, Doctor Who from 1963-1980ish, and Star Trek TOS (and maybe more of it, everyone says Next Generation is better but I've not watched it since I was like 6). List gets bigger once you move away from space based sci-fi, too.

If you really need to find a new series to watch, go to Anime Junkie. The site has almost any series you could ever imagine, from Ai Yori Aoshi to Zone of the Enders, and everything else in between.

Detroit Metal City. It's got everything in it! There's not really a love story because it's masked up by all the foul language and sex jokes. It's the best anime ever! You should watch it. It's a great one to pick up.
