Having an issue with my Xbox 360 !

Ok here's the problem. I just bought a new HDTV that supports 720p resolution. My Xbox 360 doesn't seem to support it tho. When I tried to swich the cable button to HDTV the Xbox just fucked up and gave me a ring of death (3 red lights).

and when I try to change the definition IN the xbox system menu, when he ask if I wanna keep the new settings the screen goes black and it send me back to 480p.

I'm using the original Component cable that comes with the xbox. My console is also one of the very first that came out.

so Anyway if you guys had any issue like this one or have any solution ! Help me out pls ;)

Theres a switch on the side of the video input cable for the xbox that switches between HD and normal. Also, set the HD settings to the correct ones in the options.

I think you need the a HD cable. I'm not sure if the old one has that setting on the componant cable, so you'll have to buy a new one. DON'T buy a HDMI cable as older xboxs don't have the socket for it. Post a picture of the cable if you can.

The cable is the original Red / Green / Blue (video) Red / White (audio) cable that came originally with the Xbox. Its when I first tried to switch the small button on the side of the cable to HDTV it gaves me the ring of death :S

No it didn't.

Also I don't think those leads support 720p as it's a shitty HD image. Buy a TV that supports 1080i or 1080p if you want to play HD, otherwise, back to standard definition with you.

Are you sure you're not getting FOUR red rings?

Normally having four red rings means that the cable setup is messed up.
