Stop saying "Yank"

Frankly, I'm tired when snotty British on NG call us Americans "Yanks." The last time we were called "Yanks" was in the Civil War. It was what the Confederates called the Union."
And Yankee for us means simply an American. It doesn't have any negative connotations for us.
Today, a Yankee is most likely a player on the New York Yankees.

The word "Yank" is overused as an insult, and it's annoying. Either call us Americans or call us by an insult that's original.

I always thoght "Yank" was the sound effect made when someone snatches something from someone else. Like an onomatopoeia for thievery.
