ReNaeNae has announced the winners of the NG calendar contest! These works of art will be featured in an the official Newgrounds 2009 calendar, available in the not-too-distant future!
I am back from Japan, where we showcased Castle Crashers at the Tokyo Game Show! We spent a week in Chiba for the convention, followed by a week in downtown Tokyo, where we stayed in Shinjuku but travelled to places like Shibuya, Harajuku, Akihabra, Roppongi, Ginza, Tsukiji and Mitaka. The Ghibli Museum and Tsukiji fish market (with fresh sushi) were two highlights, as were the fan art, papercraft and cookies that were brought to our booth. We also hit up Tokyo Disney. The biggest disappointment was the lack of robots at the Sony store in Ginza.
Dan Paladin has posted some of the latest Castle Crashers fan works on the Behemoth devblog, including these slick CC Teddy Troops! If those inspire you, don't forget that Luis has been running a Teddy Troop Contest, like his Munny Competition from last year.
RubberNinja has important news about the increasing likelyhood of web censorship in Australia. Check it out, it's pretty disturbing. Newgrounds is already blocked in China; we can't lose another country, especially the home of Adam Phillips!
Rocco from Mega64 was with us in Tokyo, documenting the trip and filming clips for their site. He collected a ton of swag to give out as random gifts with merch from their store. It brought back memories of a fanzine (Next Generation) contest I won in my early teens, where my game design doc for "Violin Master" snagged me a swag bag from the CES show. Before E3, CES was the SHIZNIT.
So thanks to Rocco I got inspired to have a similar contest here on NG! I grabbed a switload of swag and organized it into four piles, based on how many dupes I had. The first pile is the motherload; it has all the unique stuff that I only got one of. We'll be giving out these swag bags to the top four winners in this year's PUMPKIN CARVING contest.
When you carve a pumpkin this year, carve it with a Newgrounds theme! Take a picture and hold on to it for when I post the OFFICIAL PUMPKIN CONTEST thread (later, maybe on Halloween day). Respond to that thread with your picture. Winners will receive swag bags and some goodies from NG! The number of winners may vary based on the number of great submissions, but there will be at least four. Check out last year's winners for inspiration, but don't copy them!
This is the game JohnnyUtah and I have been working on.

That's just what you get when you let politicians make decisions on things that they aren't very informed about.
Sure, let the police try to catch the criminals who are uploading things like Child Porn and Pro-Terrorism sites, for example. Those people deserve to be locked up. I'm not questioning their opinions, as they have a right to have them, but making websites that brainwash impressionable people into believing it is okay is just wrong.
You know I'm done for the pumpkin carving contest. I already have two in the works. One Madness Combat pumpkin (I do one every year) and one newgrounds one. I think you'll dig them. Maybe this year I will finally win!

I mean I am down with it, not done with it. Sorry.
Good to have you back.
WIll there be a Pumpkin carving contest this year? I was thinking maybe entering it this year. I'm also looking foward to the results of the treasure hunt. What if two people post the same movie/game? Would the prize go to the first person to post it?

No, he's gonna probably whore out Castle Crashers until the end of this year.

I've heard it's like living in an ipod and a Kung Fu movie. Oh and there are also more green pipes there, like in Mario

First Statement: What is this world coming too? First the Tee-shirt he wore in the video and now a CD? What's next? Him hosting the Grammys?
Second Statement: Not only does that Swag look awesome, but it also looks edible.

or were you to busy screwing April in a Japanese Love Hotel? or have you forgotten your duties to us?
You know even if you post the same thing 4,000,000 times, that doesn't increase the odds of Tom responding to it.

hey welcome back Tom, sounds like you had a good time in Tokyo, by the way have fun looking through the remaining Treasure Hunt submissions, some of them are quite good...
Here's a pic of the Tokyo Game Show swag piles
Now they are some good prizes!!
I wish i could make flashes.... :(
That's great news to hear about the baby Tom.
He or she is going to grow up a lucky kid.
I invented the "Informative" genre. Its better than having to call your flash "Educational." Who the hell wants to be educated on Newgrounds?
