Sim City is a city building statedgy game putting you in postion of mayor. If you like statedgy building games like this I would buy it its dirt cheap by now; like 19$ for the game and expansion togeather. Basically you build residential, commercial and industrial zones to balance jobs and pop.. You build police stations and hospitals and things like that to balance safety. There are different transportation including dif. types of roads, monorails, railroads, ferries. Overall a very cool game. And you can download gobs of user made buildings from websites around the web.
That sould give you a good idea :D

I hated this game. All I wanted were skyscrapers, you know, a CITY. I would do as they said, make residential zones. I'd increase taxes, make it more desirable, increased residential levels, added commercial, increased levels, etc etc. I ended up with rich suburbias with airports...

Hey guys!

I wanted to get this club going again so I pm'ed c-doodlez-man and I think we can get some people to post this time.

I've got this idea, let's make challenges. One member thinks of something fun to do, and the others have to try and fulfill that task.

Here's one: Create a town of at least 50,000 people on the smallest area(y'know there's small, medium, and large when you're at the region screen)

To get big residential buildings I believe you need a certain population as well as people wanting residential areas. The area where you want your buildings have to be zoned with dense residential and need to be watered.

Wow, the game seems pretty good. But, is the graphics bad?

Also, on average how much would the game cost in the UK?

Graphics aren't bad. They aren't really great either but they're good enough. After all it's the gameplay in this game that matters.

Good question. the game has great graphics, the buildings are awesome looking and roads and streets are realistic. And I'm not to familiar with pounds and how much they're worth compared to dollars. I'd say they are prabably the same maybe more so 19-25 pounds.

fine I'll join if you're so anal about it.

So here's how I usually start this shit. Begin as most of you guys, but I cut away most of my sims' necessities except power. I just expand all zones until I get something like this. I then move on to the city that's neighboring this one and build only the residential/commercial zone and maybe a couple of windmills. I keep switching between these cities and slowly turn the original city into a work/waste/power-ville. I never got the hydrogen plant to work out though. It's so damn expensive, even if I sell all the power to the neighbors

what's your guys' strategy?

I got so bored of this game. I went back to CS:S which imo is much better and harder.

Also, what generally happens in the game? Do you have to sort out finaces and other stuff like that? Someone mentioned something about a police station, does that mean that robbery's happen?

And have any of you played Age Of Empires? Is Sim City 4 like a modern version of that?

Last question - My girlfriend has Sim City DS, i've had a minor go and it sucked. Is the Pc version alot better? Most the sime they are.

tons of finances, police stations, fire departments, hospitals, schools...everything that a real city basically goes through

age of empires is nothing like sim city, and you can't really lose, just go into debt which you have to work your way out of. or just blow up your city (think there's also tons of disasters you can choose from like UFOs and monster trucks.)

never played it on the DS, but I assume it's a lot shittier and watered down for people who suck at playing videogames.

Can you lot recommend a good site where you can download regions/cities apart from that simtropolis site? It's not that user friendly.

I've got the most trouble with traffic in this game.

Either the commute is way too long (I've kinda gotten rid of that), traffic noise is too loud, or the road is so packed that there's air pollution. I put subways but some people still use cars which is why the latter 2 problems are annoying.

they could've just had more pre made regions in the actual game, or made it easier to download user made ones. I just check the traffic (there's two options of seeing it, one's the red to green thing and the other one in blue shows which directions people are going to) Build the subways under the darkest blue lines and the subway stations where the blue lines get lighter. Other than that, just build some highways

That's what I do. The problem is with big buildings. About 2000 people live in one and if all of them are gonna be using cars you will need an avenue. Although that will give you air polution as well as traffic noise. Like I said subway works but not everyone uses it

To the guy who asked about a better website for SC4, I don't know one. I thinkSimtropolis is a great site but if you dont like it you'll just have to google around a bit because I'm not sure.

I'm still working on the 50,000 people challenge. I started out in a fresh region so it's alot harder to get started. I'm at about 30,000 people.
