After lots of rumors and whatnot floating around, the next wave of Marvel movies has finally be cemented for release over the next few years, most notably entries number 4 and 5 in the Spider-Man franchise which may be shot back-to-back a la LotR for faster release.
Although leading man Toby Maguire has finally signed on for both films, co-star Kirsten Dunst has expressed interest in the upcoming sequels but has yet to make a legal commitment.
A script has not yet been certified for either movie (as writers and producers are still waiting for Dunst) rumors are of the villain roles being filled by The Lizard, possibly to be played by Dylan Baker reprising his role as Dr. Curt Connors in Spider-Man 3, and the Man-Wolf a.k.a. astronaut John Jameson.
Marvel has also finally solidified another classic comic icon to be made ready for the big screen, announcing that Captain America will be scheduled for release sometime in 2011. After two well talked about "cameos" in two previous Marvel movies (read about them here) producers are confident enough to give Captain America not one but two possible shots in the cinema; the first being a solo origin movie, working title "The First Avenger," the second a possible team effort featuring himself, Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk which is not yet confirmed but still a hopeful for the future.
Iron Man directorJon Favreau has expressed interest in the project, but first wants to wrap production on Iron Man 2 slated for release in May 2010, co-staring the greatest bad-ass in Hollywood Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Furry.
And yet, the revenues of all these Marvel films combined will probably still not equal the box office take of DC's The Dark Night alone. ha ha.

It would, if they keep the cast of the characters strong with a solid storyline and a not-to-boring villain. If all this is fulfilled, it'll be a watchable movie.

It is going to be.
I remember reading somewhere that the 2nd movie is going to be based around Stark's alcoholism though.

I honestly don't think that there should be another Spiderman. All of the loose ends were tied in Spiderman 3, leaving no story left for a sequel. If a sequel is made, then it would just feel forced.
I feel the same way about Iron Man, there's really no need for a sequel. While I did think that Iron Man was an amazing movie, it would be better if they just left the movie as it is.

I think Gerard Butler should play Captain America. That'd make the movie good automatically.

Read the second paragraph of my post. They are considering it, but so far the idea is a Captain America and Iron Man cross-over vs. the Hulk. They might make it into a full blown Avengers flick though from what I've read. If not, I'll bet some of the Avengers will make cameos in future sequels of Captain America.
On a related note, at least Deadpool will finally make a big screen appearance in the upcoming Wolverine Origins movie.

Whoops, I forgot to mention that Gambit will also be in that one. FINALLY, some motherfucking Gambit.
Also, Ryan Reynolds will be playing Deadpool, so cross your fingers on that one.

Lizard and Man-Wolf? Thats pretty weak.
I've read around, I can't remember where, but Leonardo Dicaprio is the top choice for Captain America, which I'm not to sure about. I also heard they were looking at getting Brad Pitt to play Thor, which I have more confidence in if they buff him up enough.
Deadpool's apperance in Wolerine: Origins has got my attention the most, I'm really hoping they don't cock up his charater, with showcasing Reynolds' 'pretty face' instead of scarring the shit out of it to suit DP's charater. They also need to get his voice right.
Marvel also needs to look into making a Moon Knight Movie.

Haha, nice. Man-wolf is pretty much a werewolf, except he didn't get bit by another werewolf, oh no. He transforms from being in the full moon, whilst wearing a gem or rock around his neck that he got from the MOON.

He terrorized Little Red Riding Hood and ate Granny; he'll TERRORIZE YOU NEXT!
On a serious note, they should really stop with these never-ending sequels. I got bored of Spiderman after the second movie, which wasn't that great at all to begin with.

Meh. While the story of Iron Man is interesting and entertaining enough, and the first movie was pretty awesome, I think that the series doesn't really have the potential for a second hit. Why? Because it lacks something important: a compelling villain. Every other major comic book series (with the possible exception of the Hulk) has a villain that's awesome and that attracts almost as large a fan-base as the main character. Batman has the Joker, Superman has Lex Luthor, Spider Man has Venom and Doc Oc, etc. Who does Iron Man have? War Machine? Only Iron Man fans even know who War Machine is. The Mandarin? Kinda cool, but really just a stereotype with more of a fantasy feel than is usual for Iron Man. That guy who's name I can't remember but is essentially a square with legs? Lame. I'm not saying that Iron Man isn't a great series with a good story, and I'm certainly not disputing the awesomeness of the first movie, but I don't think that the second movie has as much of a chance of being a big hit. On the off-chance I'm wrong, I can still say with confidence that there will not be a third (or at least not a good one). This is because while Iron Man is a great series, to transfer it into a film version it probably needs that audience-wowing punch of a compelling, badass villain. I suppose it's possible they can overcome that obstacle, but considering how little success they've had transferring comic books into film form in the past (excluding of course the first Iron Man and the Dark Knight) I doubt it.
