Greetings everyone!
I've been composing some songs, and I want to record them and post them on Newgrounds. So far I have only three up, but I want to post up more.
To cut to the chase, I'm looking to invest in a better recording equipment. As you can probably hear from my songs, the quality is less than desirable. But it's the best I can get from a webchat microphone. T_T
Does anyone have suggestions for good microphones out there? I know how to play, but I don't know much about recording itself. >_>; Something that gives good quality for a not so big price would be good. I am college-student-poor. T_T
Thanks everybody!

I'd say something that'll give you the best bang for your buck would be one of these USB microphones:

Of course, this kind of depends on your piano. If you're recording an upright, I'd say you'd be fine to point any of those condensors at the soundboard in back from some distance, but if it's a grand, I've always miced those with a dynamic laid on the soundboard inside, I'm not sure how that would sound with a condensor.
More details about your recording setup would definitely help.

I use an upright piano, and since it's at home, it's situated against the wall. So in that case it would probably be hard to record from behind it since that's the wall. Mmm.... what else. There's nothing really in the room where the piano is in that will bounce sound off erratically I guess.
Thanks for the link, I'll go check it out. ^_^

You really gotta record from the soundboard, that's where your best volume/tone are going to come from. If your top opens, I guess you could try opening that up and pointing the mic down in there.
I haven't played much with recording my piano as I mostly do guitar work, but I might look into it and post back.

Yes, the top does open. I think that would be best, but the only problem is that with my current microphone, even holding it anywhere within a foot of the piano would cause the volume to be too loud for the microphone to handle. Maybe with a better microphone.
