Awesome. I wanna hear you hit 4.2ghz since you've been so persistent about Thor's hammer. I still think the CM690 has better cable management though.

I'm keeping it right at 4029.9GHz with the DRAM at 806MHz, 2:8. That's good enough for me and my temperature is at 39c and that's only with one fan running at 50%

As soon as I put my computer on ebay, some asshole decides to sell his Q9400/280 SLI for $900. I don't understand why though, he's losing so much money on that it's rediculous.

No bids and no watchers, but that's normal until the last day or two of the auction, right?

Correct. And oh boy does that build sound good but I seen much MUCH more interesting and ridiculous auctions before. Hey, people get desperate in this economical crisis.

Off Topic

When I turn 18 (soon) I'm thinking about getting into Ebay. Craigslist is boring and I never get anyone REALLY interested in buying anything. Plus it's creepy.

How do you start on ebay? I mean, how many people are going to buy things from someone with no experience?

i recommend that you buy a few small things from people first that can recommend you to buyers, then once you have around 10-20 good reviews you can start selling things and people will start buying them.

I just made £65 from old crap i had in my room (PDA, mointor and several dvds)

Holy crap guys, I just got a PC with an Intel core 2 Duo for FREE.

Now I need a graphics card...

So you just got the processor? You still need 8 other components then.

Having spare stuff around is good though, because if you ever need to troubleshoot parts, you have everything right at your disposal. I was able to obtain an old laptop from my dad's friend. It was originally the family computer, until I broke it, and my dad gave it to his friend in hopes he'd fix it. It was sort of forgotten about, and I just got it back the other day. If this laptop never broke, I never would have gotten into computers.

Anyways, it's got bad sectors, and this is my proposal to fix it. The first 10 gigs of the drive are bunk, along with the last 45. First, I low-level formatted the drive. Next, I put a windows disk in. I made three partitions in order. 0-12 GB, 12-65GB, 65-110GB. I put windows on the middle partition. For the past day, windows has been trying to format the first 12 gigs, which is no easy task on a broken hard drive. I'm not even sure if it will work.

Just hit the last nail on the poor thing's coffin, and get a new hard drive. a 320GB 2.5" 7.2K drive won't cost you no more than $80 down there in the states.

I have the motherboard and everything too.

I'm just looking for something that will run Garry's mod with bump map textures an no lag and such. I've looked, but there are no good ones for AGP or PCI.

1. PSU

2. Mobo

3. RAM

4. HDD

Case isn't needed, cables come with parts, heatsink comes with cpu, mobo most likely has IGP

Everything looked like it was going so well. After more than a day of waiting, and being at 60% done with formatting the broken partition, Windows decides to tell me that it can't continue because the disk is damaged.

Bull.

Okay fine that's 5 but you don't really need the optical drive although it is very useful.

Funny this is CCC but we're arguing how to put a computer together.

Also, we reached 50 pages recently. Should we pat ourselves on the back or something?

Not until we push it to 11.

Thousand pages.

it would be cool to have a benchmarking contest but everyone here has completely different hardware so the results would be uncompareable

Not so much in the graphics department, plus it would be fun anyways to see where everyone lineups against each other.

And we could make a whole Flash of it, along with a menu showing pictures of everyone's builds - you know, make it unnecessarily fancy. Now, who knows AS2 or 3?.

yer, but the flash is the easy part.

Try telling everybody who has never heard of benchmarking tools as some people in here havent to download, install and how to use them

and also what benchmarks we actually need.

Apart from that and what benchmarks we would actually perform its a good idea. I suggest 3Dmark 06 and 3Dmark vantage for seperate graphics and cpu benchmarks and i dont HDTune for the hdd.

tis good idea

I'd love to participate, if my e8500 could hit 4ghz, or my 280 was stable at stock with less than 100% fan. My rig lost the overclocking spirit somehow, but here's a bench I had back in the glory days.

Just wondering, but how the hell do you people get to 4ghz with just stock? Doesn't seem possible. Then again, I've always been a little afraid of OC'ing my 9850...

My grass went emo, so now I don't have to cut it anymore.

But your HT link is only at 2000MHz as oppose to my 3600MHz. and you wouldn't have HT as well, would you :) ?
