Oh, I thought you were referring to save-to-blam ratio. That's how I always calculated ratios for my top 50 blam and top 50 save lists, and Dogma continued that tradition.

In Japan, they don't just promote someone right away if he's not ready, so they needed someone else to step in and run things for a few years. Well, he doesn't get over 40 saves EVERY day, or else he would have passed me weeks and weeks ago, not just this past week, trust me. But yes, he's very skillful at not missing many saves per day. I'm trying my hand at his methods... THE TOOCOOL EXPERIMENT, conducted by teh gfox (saves only mode for the next week or so, until I get up to 22,222 saves!).

Unfortunately I didn't start taking screenies till I hit 1000 (I didn't feel the 100s were important enough, or maybe I just wasn't in the habit yet), and from there to 2000, I only took them at 1000, 1337, 1500, 1666, 1700, 1776, 1800, 1836, 1900, 1969, 1977, and 2000. IOW, the "every 100" part didn't begin until 1700. From 1700 to 8200, I have one at every 100, plus all the other cool numbers. #;-}>

You gained 270 for the month, Recon gained 280. That might be affected by when you deposited on 5/1 (the day ramagi last updated the list) versus when HE deposited that day... but actually, you started the month 10 exp behind him--9700 vs 9710 (probably because you hadn't deposited yet), and ended it 20 behind him--9970 vs 9990... and now you're 10 behind him again... But he hasn't deposited today yet. He was at 10000 already two days ago (when I took a screenshot of him at 10000 exp on May 2nd), you see.

So, you're 20 behind him now. You must have missed 10 exp in March and then another 10 exp in April. It's a pretty safe bet you missed two deposits in the past two months, man. I dunno how you missed them, but it seems you did. ;_;

How many flash submissions there ever were is the number of the most recent submission to the portal. Just mouseover the topmost underjudgement entry in the 50 most recent list and that's the number of entries submitted. Right now, that entry is:

The ranking is only updated once per day, but the IN/OUT votes are current as of when you loaded the page. Thus, people can get out of order with respect to the people above them and below them during the day, but after midnight the rankings are reordered/resorted by IN votes alone (OUT votes don't matter, they don't even break ties... exp or signup does that, can't remember which).

Then divided by number of days in between for the pace and also did something to figure out the ranking changes up and down (not sure if that was manual or he rigged something in Excel or something).

*noddles* Yeah, that's what he'd have to do, but it wouldn't be a big problem. You can extract the user ids from D0GMA's last EGRL with a one-liner in Perl, and writing a few scripts that pull user profiles and extract data from them isn't hard, either.

The only real problem is that if you do things this way, you'll only catch people who already were in the EGRL when D0GMA posted it, so if you'd want to do a full EGRL update yourself, you'd still have to hunt down a bunch of new users; and the fact that you can't even be sure whether an empty spot just means that you didn't find the user yet or whether the relevant user does not actually HAVE a profile doesn't help, either.

I think what Wade really should do would be to do an automatic daily dump of all the information there is for all users into a single bzip2'd CSV file and make that one available for download. The file shouldn't be more than a few megabytes, so even if 1000 people download it each day, there wouldn't be any significant traffic (significant in terms of the total traffic that Newgrounds most likely sees each day, anyway); there wouldn't be any database load since the file's pregenerated; there wouldn't be any http server load since it'd only be a single request (as opposed to querying 735000 user profiles manually); and there wouldn't even be any disk load, since the file could simply be kept in and served from memory.

I do wonder if he ever considered doing that, but it seems that he's more leaning towards cracking down on lists and the like (or trying to, anyway) altogether, even though the only actual problem (namely, server load) could just as well be eased by a solution along these lines, too.

For that matter, it would also be nice if a number of other things were available in machine-readable form, too. The various top 50 lists are just one example; something I'd personally love to see would be an export of the current XP top (i.e., the number of XP the level 30 user(s) ha(s|ve)). You wouldn't have to return more than 5 digits (instead of a 10K HTML page) for the query, and it would really be so much nicer if you want to write a small tool that calculates things like "how long will it take me to get to level XYZ" or "how much VP will I have in X days" and so on.

Is it possible that when American Daylight Savings time began in early April, you missed a deposit because of the time change or something? And maybe you didn't realise you missed that one, and thus thought you only missed one AT MOST, but in fact missed two?

Cause I dunno, man, it's very unlikely that a glitch or bug hit you. The exp system is pretty damned reliable, unless NG goes down for a long time. And lately? NG hasn't gone down for huge periods of time. There were a few hours during the Load Balancer installation by Tim-the-9-post-admin. I think that's all.

Yes, but over 1,200,000 accounts have been made. The fact that there are only around 736,000 users doesn't mean that's how many there's EVER been. That's how many there are right NOW, due to account deletions.

Just like the amount of flashes submitted and the amount of flashes protected is different because of flashes that got BLAMMED...

Out votes are people clicking a person's site link to go see their site. NG doesn't care how many people go OUT of NG to see users' pages (though the stat is listed, yes)... NG cares how many people click on the link ON YOUR SITE and thus come to NG through it and bring more traffic here to NG. #;-}>

Nite_Walker deposited quite often until he hit 10,000 exp. Then he stopped. For good, it seems.

If you haven't noticed his comments in his profile, I believe it says "SO I HIT 10,000!!! NOW WHAT?" IOW, he did it because it was the thing to do on NG, exp-wise, and now he doesn't see any point in continuing. So it's not so much that Nite_Walker is missing deposits... it's more that he's retired his account. #;-}>

For awhile he was ranked #100 in exp with 10,000 exp. That was pretty cool. Now you and jessica_ and _lightning_ and others have broken that, and we've got 100+ people with 10k exp. 104 or so, I believe. By the time I get to it, it's going to be more like 115 to 120 (I'm ranked #124 right now, but there's some slow-moving or completely-stopped people between me and you, so... I should be passing quite a few before I hit 10k in a couple months!).

Both of you are over the holy 10,000 amount in exp now, and that's an occasion to celebrate heartily! BREAK OUT THE ALE, BOYS!

IOW, we've been discussing it with liljim, but... What the heck is a CSV file, though?

Comma Separated Values. Very useful for exporting data, because you don't have to think about elaborate file formats, and also because it's quite easy to modify when necessary. ^^

Well, he doesn't get over 40 saves EVERY day, or else he would have passed me weeks and weeks ago, not just this past week, trust me. But yes, he's very skillful at not missing many saves per day. I'm trying my hand at his methods... THE TOOCOOL EXPERIMENT, conducted by teh gfox (saves only mode for the next week or so, until I get up to 22,222 saves!).

IOW, the "every 100" part didn't begin until 1700. From 1700 to 8200, I have one at every 100, plus all the other cool numbers. #;-}>

Well, some accounts may not count due to other reasons, such as glitches or who knows what... only the admins do.

But I don't find it hard to believe that tens of thousands, and perhaps HUNDREDS of thousands of accounts are indeed gone forever. There are soooooooooooo many link spammers that have attacked this site both on the BBS and especially in reviews, over the past couple of years, man. Ever since Outwar hit it big.

Very few people actually ask admins to delete their accounts. It's mostly from rules violators that deletions happen, yes.

It actually didn't take too long to get used to, but it is quite frustrating to only average 15-20 points per day due to only getting saves and not having the time to be on the portal a lot of each day like Toocool often is...

He's already to 22240 or so, and I'm down at 22122 or so. He's gotten a 120+ save lead on me. I don't care so much about that, but I'd already be to 22222 and could restart blamming if I had saved as much the past two weeks as he has. thats what i keep on saying,as for me im really working mostly on my posts,as for reviews i do about on average 5-10 a day,experience heh well you know how that goes it takes forever and theres nothing you can do about it except just except your little 10 per day,oh well ill be there soon enough ^_^

Well, your posts and your reviews aren't SUPERhigh, but they're both quite even with each other, and they're not exactly low, either, so that's all good... yes, your exp won't take very long at all, so your triplelistedness is at least assured.
