You MGS-head, you!
Pentalist update #16 is up!
Yayyyy.
Thanks for the update. I'd been checking (the old link...) a few times in the past month and wondering why it was still showing an August update... can you let me know next time you switch hosts, plz? I need to change the link in my sig to point at this webs.com site instead of bravehost.com or whatever it was at prior (update #15 is still showing as most recent there).
Welcome to 36Holla, firebot00, Luxury-Yacht and SBB. firebot00 entered with 10k EXP and 10k saves while 36Holla, Luxury-Yacht and SBB entered with 10k EXP and 10k posts.

Well, well, welly-well-well... While I continue to make progress in catching MPA (and eventually Bonus), it appears my waters are about to be fucking ROCKED by a pretty sizeable wave that is massing RIGHT BEHIND ME.
Hm.
:::shrugs:::
Prediction: I'll be passing MPA on the same update Coop passes me, so it'll amount to a no-change in the end.
Real problem: Coop's got other big waves (though not quite as big as himself) right behind him... he's bringing DOOM. DOOM FOR ALL OF US. IN HIS WAKE. I HAVE FORESEEN IT. ;_;
Thanks for the update, Bahamut.

WHERE'S THE JOKE?! I DON'T GET IT! <--- That's a link BTW.
I actually watched that. Can I have my 23 minutes back now, please?
That appears to be a horrible movie, yes, especially awful considering the talent level of the actors the horrible writing ended up wasting... but I feel like the 23 minutes I just spent watching his review were possibly just as wasted as 23 minutes spent watching 1/4 (I'm assuming it's ~90 minutes long) of that movie.
I don't enjoy his reviewing style. He's one part Mr. Cranky from 1990s internet fame, and two parts MST3K, but with far less charm and funniness than either. And he mispronounced Julia Louis-Dreyfus. It's not "Lewis," it's "Louise." Jeeeez.... Where was HE during the 90s, anyway? Seems to know about Seinfeld's characters, but never heard one of the main four actors' names pronounced out loud before? O_o

Well, there is some lit (mostly fanfic and/or poetry and short stories) on LiveJournal, but yeah... I'm gonna have to agree with Bahamut on this one. If there's a part of NG that's too much like social networking sites already, it's the profile newspost+comments system being similar to blogs + blogcomments... a lit portal would not really reach that same level of socialnetworkitude.
Nope, not at all. It'll be all about stories and no social networking shit.
Well obviously. But many things can be used for purposes they weren't originally intended for. Not that Tom Fulp intended our profiles to only be used for one narrow use, but... the newspost system within them is already being used for a wide variety of uses that he couldn't possibly have foreseen, yanno?
It remains to be seen what will come from the lit portal when it arrives. Hopefully mostly good stuff.

Would if I could, but can't so I shant.
No account = no following. Thank god. :::shudders:::
I did read about 10 or so of your recent tweets, though. Egad, man. You've turned into a typical Tweeter/Twitterer/Twittor/Twit/whatevert hefuck with that "I AM SO DRUNK RIGHT NAO" tweet right there.
HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN? </Heavy Weapons Guy>
Still, we'll see. The review section of the lit portal will be the thing to watch. If the reviews start to become like blog comments, then we've gone to hell.
Let's just hope we get enough great reviewers. *Looks at Haggard and Coop* These are great potentials.
What about me?
Oh wait... yeah. ;_;
...Counting medal points? *hears a loud boo from the audience*
HISSSSSSSSS.
Well, Portal is judged upon different merits than most games. Does MGS4 have as many fun, challenging sidegames/minigames as Portal?
Do they really matter? What matters is the game itself.
Of course they matter. Sidegames and minigames and other such things add to replayability, add to potential challenge/difficulty, and add to the variety of gameplay styles present in a game.
If they're in the game, they're in the game. They ARE the game itself, dude. The game is more than the sum of its plot. Come on, now, surely you know that.
A game is not a book. Portal is not just the storyline of the main SP mode. It is also the wacky shit you can do without following the plot, the crazy things you have to do for some of the tougher achievements (that aren't gotten automatically by playing the game "normally"), and the challenge/puzzle modes you do (usually) after you've finished the plot mode!
I refer to the least-time, least-steps, and least-portals challenge modes, plus the advanced maps. If you add in all of those things, I'll bet Portal is longer than MGS4, from the sounds of it. Without need of any cutscenes to pad the length. #;-}>
That's just comparing them in a different way. If it were games themselves, MGS4 would be longer, even if you cut all the cutscenes.
Longer isn't better.
Anyway, I've only played MGS1, and it felt long enough to me, but I wasn't skipping cutscenes. If I were to replay it and skip cutscenes, I might change my view.
Have you ever replayed MGS1? I'd say that game has great replay value since every time I want to play MGS4, I'm always beating it at least twice to view both endings.
Yes, I've replayed MGS1 once. I've also replayed Portal once (the plot part, I mean). I enjoyed my replay of Portal more. :::shrugs:::
