Fuck the naysayers, there has been no better way to conclude a saga in the video game industry, even though Kojima is working on TWO MORE GAMES! It's good to hear we're getting new games and all, but he claimed he was going to retire after MGS4 is released. One year after the release and he's working on two more games. I just wish these people could make up their damn minds. :P

LittleBigPlanet is a way bigger selling point for a PS3 than MGS4 is all I'm sayin' here. I wish they'd put LBP on Steam. You KNOW it would do well. Damned ungreedy-enough bastards. #;-}>

Just do what I do and move the names to the right of each line. As long as you're only quoting 2-3 lines, it hardly takes any time at all. I see you already change the ***s and ****s to 3* and 4*, similar to how I spell it out to keep the columns in line.

Go for it. Just a quick doubleclick on the name and a paste to the right. Personally, I do a bit too much fiddling with tabs and some deletes/backspaces, but really as long as there's 1 space and/or tab in between the text/numbers, it'll line up fine once the numbers are all on the left and the names at the far right.

The old profile page was solid stats. All the non-stat stuff took up hardly ANY space, or was in a drop down menu (the faves, for instance). It was a thing of beauty. Man, I miss those profiles. Except for the pop-up part. I actually like the non-pop-upness of the new ones. But man, I miss the statliness, front and center. STATS WERE KING.

Or we discard the medal POINTS and count MEDALS instead.

Wait, how do you have such an opinion about it being the best way to conclude the MGS series? I thought you didn't have a PS3. I take it you've played MGS4 at your sister's or a friend's place?

In any event, I was never that much of a MGS fan. I only have 1, and while it was okay, it's nothing that special. Metal Gear for the NES was an epic (and insanely hard) game back in the day, but the "Solid" series is mostly just an interactive anime-ish movie. No big deal.

Seriously, though, just think about the freedom of motion/exploration/doing things multiple ways you have in games like Fallout 3 (well, if you'd GET IT and try it out), and to a lesser degree Bioshock... and to an even lesser degree, Half-Life 2... and how MGS lacks even the semi-freedom of mostly-linear HL2.

I'm becoming more and more inclined to never get a PS3 until it's cheaper than a Wii (or at least... until I can get one for less $ than I paid for the Wii when we got it in 2007), which is never going to happen (or not for a long time, in the case of my clarification in parentheses above). It has less value to me than our Wii, so... why bother?

Funny how I still got 41 more saves than blams, even though I usually get more blams a day than saves now.

Anyway, there are currently no users with insane paces behind me. STEM has gathered around 1,000 total stats and the-puppet has dropped to a gain of 555 total stats. So, I'm safe for now. :)

Well, things are pretty sweet right now for us three folks just sitting here all alone in between 100,000 and 110,000 (seriously, #13 and #17 are right there at the extremes of that range, it's only the three of us in the middle)... nice and calm, not much going on. all of us just chugging along nice and slow.

Too bad there's some speed demons coming up from behind in the coming months. It's gonna go from NICE AND CALM to... horribly stormy SUPER fast at that point. ;_;

Well, her 2556 haul compared to your 1371 haul would suggest nearly double your 45 ppd, yes. Maybe around 88 ppd, I'd estimate?

Yeah, that'll always do it. With the exception of those crazy postwhores and reviewwhores, b/p pace is the lifeline of the pentalist user. That's why I've barely moved since I retired in 2005.

Yes, but they were never on the old profiles. So when they were added to the left column, it felt artificial.

They're there because they fit with flash reviews right above them. Doesn't mean I have to see them equally (I never took the stickerstat that seriously, either... or popularity, for that matter... and both of those were on the old profiles... exceptions that prove the rule).

And, in fact, audio reviews were added to our newfangled profiles' left columns shortly before I retired from doing the list, so... I didn't want to start making changes right at the end. Bahamut took care of the changery for me, anyway.

The rest of the new profile page is interesting, what with its expanded favourites sections and its review listings and its newsposts and all that shit, but NONE OF IT is the main core stat mothership. #;-}>

The old profile page was solid stats. All the non-stat stuff took up hardly ANY space, or was in a drop down menu (the faves, for instance). It was a thing of beauty. Man, I miss those profiles. Except for the pop-up part. I actually like the non-pop-upness of the new ones. But man, I miss the statliness, front and center. STATS WERE KING.

Yeah, the old profiles where great. I pity all those users who have never seen them, nor did never have one.

My sister's boyfriend got the game for his birthday last year. Since I was down there, I was given a chance to play it and I was 3/5 through the game before I headed back home in July. When I was down in London again in November, I finished off the game to make way for LittleBigPlanet.

In any event, I was never that much of a MGS fan. I only have 1, and while it was okay, it's nothing that special. Metal Gear for the NES was an epic (and insanely hard) game back in the day, but the "Solid" series is mostly just an interactive anime-ish movie. No big deal.

Eh. It's not like it's a full game. It's like an ep 1 or ep 2 for HL2, only it's not even that important because you don't care as much about individual GTA plots as you do about Half-Life's arc plot. Or at least... you shouldn't, if you're a fan of both series. HL plot = matters. GTA plot = discarded when they switch cities again (which is often).

When you speak of "old profiles", how old are these profiles exactly? When I started reviewing (well... commenting) audio in 2006 audio reviews where already added to that nifty pop-up profile.

Yeah i'm probably gonna start visiting the Audio Portal more often and review there cause i rarely go there but there is a lot of great remixes that i've noticed there plus i just got a new badass sound system so i got to test it out on some new songs as well plus i need to add some new songs to my Ipod as well.

Looking forward to it, I thought I would have easily slid in in with the June update but work came up and I was busy for about two weeks which slowed my pace down. It's all good now since I have my own laptop. Can't wait for the next update.

Yeah, good that I don't plan to reitre in the near future. I was thinking of stopping at 33,333 B/P or something like that. But then I felt something was missing in my daily routine. So I just vote on UJ flashes whenever I find the time and I don't care about my pace that much anymore.

Yes, but they were never on the old profiles. So when they were added to the left column, it felt artificial.

When you speak of "old profiles", how old are these profiles exactly? When I started reviewing (well... commenting) audio in 2006 audio reviews where already added to that nifty pop-up profile.
But I remember something like "audio reviews by Haggard: ~none~" from way before 2006...

I'm talking about profiles from 2002 until the redesign in 2007. Profiles had only minor changes during that huge period.

You might be right about that, but even if so, it was a late addition. Earlier changes to the profiles during that period included:

1. removal of the popularity ranking stat
2. addition of the NG sticker stat
3. addition of the audio submissions pull-down menu
4. some other additions in that flash/audio section in between the top area with level icon/exp info and the bottom area with b/p and post info.

They're there because they fit with flash reviews right above them. Doesn't mean I have to see them equally (I never took the stickerstat that seriously, either... or popularity, for that matter... and both of those were on the old profiles... exceptions that prove the rule).

Yeah, stickers are something you have to pay for, you don't get them for doing anything on the site, so they are different from all the other stats.
And popularity was also different because it wasn't YOU who done anything (except for luring people on your profile maybe).

And because it was just a ranking. There wasn't even a count of anything.... it was as mysterious a stat as whistles/whistle power were early on.

Bah. Screw that future. I choose to write a different future: where the values we have now as NG statwhores are PRESERVED, goddamnit!

And where we have our profiles linked to our userIDs again?

Technically, they still are, seeing as how our profile banners and profile pics still contain our user ID#s in their URLs. But yes, I miss being able to see id#s for ALL profiles, and I miss being able to pull up a profile by just its #.

I kinda wish that it was an either/or system. Either you could use username OR user ID#... to pull up profiles. Ah well.

It'll be weird when I do get there, considering it's been a goal of mine pretty much ever since I discovered the joy of stats. It'll be all the more rewarding too, seeing as blams are somewhat more difficult to come by these days.

It's wild to think of a NG stat experience that began with a pentalist-related goal, seeing as how the pentalist wasn't around when I first started becoming a NG stathead. Always glad to be reminded how the list I created way back in 2003 had such an impact on a few of you guys. #;-}>

Bad ass. That woulda been insane, yeah. And if there were 4 different review stats, there'd be people clamoring for FOUR MORE COLUMNS FOR THE RESPONSES FOR EACH OF 'EM AS WELL, and then it'd be like a 12-column stat list. INSANITY. #;-}>

And I once thought about having responses as another stat for the Pentalist but no-one even has that many responses, not even a third of it. The list would be fucking insane with 4 review stats AND 4 responses stats. That'd be 13 stats in total, IT'S TOO MUCH! We're best leaving responses as they are.

Agreed, whenever I get round to playing GTA4, after finishing it I'll be looking into The Lost and the Damned. Of course, if it remains 360 exclusive, I'm screwed unless I end up getting a 360.

Eh. It's not like it's a full game. It's like an ep 1 or ep 2 for HL2, only it's not even that important because you don't care as much about individual GTA plots as you do about Half-Life's arc plot. Or at least... you shouldn't, if you're a fan of both series. HL plot = matters. GTA plot = discarded when they switch cities again (which is often).

I still wish to get them nonetheless, but of course, I need to have a 360 in order to get them. I just like bonuses, that's all. Again, I'm still unsure as to which platform I'll get GTA4 on.

My sister's boyfriend got the game for his birthday last year. Since I was down there, I was given a chance to play it and I was 3/5 through the game before I headed back home in July. When I was down in London again in November, I finished off the game to make way for LittleBigPlanet.

Sooo... sounds like MGS4 is a pretty quick game, then.

It is, it's even shorter when you skip all the cutscenes. Then again, so were MGS1 - 3. All fantastic games and longer than Portal (gameplay time-wise) nonetheless.

Until number of medals is implemented in the Pentalist (well, Hexalist then). ;) Sure, there's only around 400 medals known right now, but the number will exceed 10,000 eventually. Yes, it will take a long time to have 10,000 different medals but it'll be easier than writing 10k reviews.
