M G S 4, Possible 360 Port

US, October 14, 2008 - According to a Tokyo Game Show report from Japanese investment research firm Morningstar, Metal Gear Solid 4 may find its way to the Xbox 360 after all. Morningstar published a general article covering multiplatform trends that features a quote from a Konami public relations representative that should fuel rumors for months to come. The rep is quoted as saying, regarding MGS4, "We're actively looking into a release for the Xbox 360." While this isn't a confirmation of it coming, it does lend hope to those Xbox 360 owners who haven't plunked down money on a PS3.

However, this little quote doesn't clear the major hurdle Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has listed for the title coming to Xbox 360. He has been quoted in several interviews saying a port was likely impossible due to the game being optimized for the PS3 hardware, specifically Blu-ray discs.

IGN has contacted Konami's US representatives for a comment and is awaiting a response. The original Morningstar report can be found here.

Quite frankly, the whole "Optimized for Blu-Ray" bit is all bullshit on my opinion. The only thing they did is just do a very low compression algorithm on the audio.

And speaking of the uncompressed audio that the hardcore Sony fans brag about, I quite frankly don't care, since my ears suck enough to the point that I can't really tell the difference between most compressed and uncompressed audio (with the exception of RE4 for the PS2.)

Well considering Snake is a clone and everyone accepted that Liquid was in a couple games after he died (even though he wasn't) and the fact that Snake could be cured and mainly the fact that whole Metal Gear universe is a complete mindfuck anyway, I don't really see how people are claiming that MGS5 couldn't be about Snake.

Also Kojima does not want to fucking hear it anymore. I remember a kotaku article where they asked his weather or not it was comming to 360 and he got very upset and left the interview. He hates this stupid console bickering, I'm not sure if he actually owns any rights to the game but if he does I don't think he'll release it to microsoft just on principle.

When Snake was cloned his cells were made to age rapidly and his ability to reprodcue were removed so that no one could use him as a weapon, which means he's going to die anyway even if they mange to remove FOXDIE from him

What the fuck else does Raiden have to do to redeem himself in your eyes? He only saved Snake's ass in an extremely stylish and badass manner on multiple occasions, two of which he pulled off without the use of his arms. He lost a huge amount of blood in a single fight (and stabbed himself in the stomach) and kept on truckin', not to mention the scene wherein he single-handedly stops the advance of a giant floating fortress of death by sheer force of will alone. AND he generally stopped being a whiner/deadbeat father.

Anyway, I think that an MGS5 would be a bad, bad, bad idea unless it's another prequel. I think that the final scene to 4 was the perfect chronological ending to the series, not to mention pretty much the only perfectly executed scene in the entire series (I'm being generous), and it shouldn't be tampered with. Plus, I'd like to maybe play as Ocelot, or even the Boss.

Yes, this again. All throughout Metal Gear Solid 4's development, rumors swirled that the PS3 exclusive would go multi-platform. Even after Konami announced that the game would feature an in-game PS3 controller, the rumors persisted. And now thanks to Japanese stock investor bulletin Morningstar, those rumors continue. The site points out that the number of cross platform titles has increased in an effort to appeal to a more international market. While at TGS, Konami PR mouthpiece Yoshitaka Arai told Morningstar:

"The worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version (of MGS4) is quite high, and it is something we are currently looking in to."

Does this really surprise anyone? The thing that is surprising is that Konami, a third party developer, poured so much money into an exclusive title in an age where multi-plat development is quickly becoming de rigueur.

Seriously. Everyone states facts about how MGS has to go in a certain direction because of the facts they've been given when one of the biggest facts about MGS is that it's all twists and turns, lies and cover-ups.

Agreed verily. I'd also like to be able to play as Ocelot. He's pretty much the only character in the series who I didn't feel got proper closure.
