Music wouldn't be where it is without him.
The good stuff at least.
If you haven't heard of him, look him up. (youtube, wikipedia, etc.)

Please disregard all of my pre-2013 posts. I was young and borderline retarded.
The man has a simply amazing number of albums.
Plus I've heard he's good. I should give him a listen sometime.
Music wouldn't be where it is today if My Chemical Romance never existed. It'd probably be better and millions of kids would have a better taste in music! Doesn't make them gods though :P
What's this? A thread on NG that doesn't fill me with unending rage?
Good to see some kids still appreciate real music. Zappa was a phenomenal guitarist and even better composer.
Weasels Ripped My Flesh.
The name, the cover... you just can't beat it.

No, Weird Al is God, as it clearly states in my sig. Also, what the FUCK was Zappa smoking when he named his kids?! I sure feel sorry for Dweezil and Moon Unit... Their dad was the only one in the family with a normal name.

Weird Al was influenced by Frank Zappa.

You are stupid, all who vote in favor that "DavidTheSandslash" is an idiot say "I".
Ahh, Zappa.
I didn't realize some kids nowadays actually had decent taste in music.

Shocking, isn't it?
I figured it was all T-Pain and EMOTIONAL HARDCORE these days.

Damn kids and their sappy love songs comparing a woman to their car.

Yes, music now is unoriginal, simple, and boring.
It's depressing.
Doesn't mean I need to listen to it though.
zappa's music is excellent i especially love "we're only in it for the money" and "hot rats"
Fact of the matter is, there is no hip world, there is no straight world. There's a world, you see, which has people in it who believe in a variety of different things. Everybody believes in something and everybody, by virtue of the fact that they believe in something, use that something to support their own existence.
- Frank Zappa (1940 - 1993)
The Muffin Man is seated at a table in the laboratory of the utility muffin research kitchen.
Reaching for an over-sized chrome spoon, he gathers and intimate quantity of dried muffin remnants. And brushing his scapular aside, proceeds to dump these inside of his shirt. He turns to us and speaks:
"Some people like cupcakes better, I for one care less for them."
Arrogantly twisting the sterile canvas snoot of a fully charged icing anointment utensil, he poots fort a quarter ounce green rosette near the summit of a dense, but radiant muffin of his own design. Later he says:
"Some people....some people, like cupcakes exclusively while myself I say there is not, nor ought there be, nothing so exhaulted on the face of God's grey earth as that prince of foods: the muffin."
Girl, you thought he was a man
But he was a muffin
You hung around till you found
That he didn't know nothin'
Girl, you thought he was a man
But he only was a-puffin
No cries is heard in the night
As they result of him stuffin'
Why does it burn when I pee?

How dare one compare Frank Zappa to Weird Al? Weird Al uses simple parodies and potty-humor while Zappa's humor is much more complex. I got to know Zappa because of my father. He collected every single song of him.
Whats his daughter called? Moon Hummer Zappa or something?
"What do I dislike about death? Must be the hours."

Exactly, in fact one of Weird Al's biggest influences was...Frank Zappa.
Without Frank Zappa, Weird Al may not be where he is today or even exist in the music world.
I have the original LP release of Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch
That album is very good
Confusion will be my epitaph. As I crawl a cracked and broken path. If we make it we can all sit back and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Was a God, there are many other seminal musicians. As for influence, that goes hand in hand with great. ;)
Frank Zappa? Oh, yeah frank zappa. He's awesome. No wait, i'm thinking of Jimi Hendrix.
LIGHT THAT GUITAR!

Even after death he is immortal through his music.
Just because he's no longer in physical form does not take away his status as a god.

Not only are you insulting,
you sound like an idiot to.
Both musicians played different music, had different styles and were popular in different places at different times. Although, Jimi Hendrix was an amazing guitarist and would still outplay many guitarists today, Frank Zappa left a much bigger dent in the music industry and just wasn't credited for it. An unsung hero. He fought against Tipper Gore's censorship of music, without him and a few other musicians we may not have not have the music we do now. He also innovated and invented many different styles of music.
