OK, get this...this will TOTALLY blow your mind. This is true by the way.
There is this woman in Indiana in her mid-50's that had a very thick American accent. One day, she had a severe stroke that paralyzed part of her body and rendered her unconcsious. When she came to, she couldn't use her voice. Eventually, after months of therapy she regained her voice...except her American accent was replaced with a very thick British accent. Doctors have no idea how she developed this accent as she has never been to Britain and no one around her was British. The proper term for this oddity is called "Foreign Accent Syndrome" and only about 5 cases have been reported...ever. I saw this in two places on two different mediums. I saw it on TV the other day, and then on the BBC website this morning. I can't remember the link to the article, but if someone does some fishing (I'm too lazy) they could find it.
