Dude, scroll up the thread and check for yourself. I just said the big bang theory explained the movement of objects in space.
Nana nana boo boo, I don't have to. :P
oh come on :3
No, that's how science stays still. Science evolves by challenging theories over and over again until it's proven beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Lost-Chances announces his scientific illiteracy to the BBS shamelessly. Google 'just a theory' and 'evidence for the Big Bang' why dontcha
Theory doesn't mean 'guess' or 'hypothesis', it means 'explanation that coincides with the facts', 'the process most likely to be true'. Honest to God man.
There is plenty of evidence for the Big Bang, reams of the stuff.
It's not a matter of providing proof, it's a matter of providing enough evidence for disbelief to be foolish. Things like 'God', despite never being intended to be proven, do not even have any supporting evidence - all atheists want is evidence for God, of which there appears to be none. The more we look at the universe, the more natural it seems.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_and_
fact
In science, a "fact" means "data", and "theory" means an explanation of that data. "Evolution" is a word used both for the data and for the explanation, so it is both a theory and a fact. Sometimes also, to confuse things, a well established theory is called a fact.
The facts are that EVERYTHING INDICATES the universe started in one particular central point and exploded outwards. Therefore, the theory is that everything started in one central point and exploded outwards.
I don't even see why religious people have an aversion to this. And this thread has made it PATENTLY obvious that a lot of you have no interest in the Big Bang, all you care is 'it's a theory so I'm not gonna believe in it,' you're blissfully unaware of the mountains of evidence that make such dismissal preposterously stupid and somewhat offensive. To yourself. You all let yourselves down, seriously.

No that logic cannot work because with the big bang theory the universe was always there. Religion and science cannot coexist perfectly no matter how hard you try.

If you beleive in God, then you must beleive he created the human race to be his slaves under dictatorship and will kill all humans who deny him that, despite what you think the mysterious ways and intentions are. If you piss him off once, you will go to hell for all eternity.
If you believe he made the big bang happen, then must beleive he is a liar as Adam and Eve could not have survived on Earth after being cast out the garden of Eden so soon.
Seriously, do you really want there to be a God?

These guys make the dichotomy really easy by opposing science when it disagrees with religion.
A lot of people don't allow them to oppose each other, believing in some deist God who still did the whole Jesus thing, but here they seem to revel in the opposition. "I'm religious so science must be wrong."

Of course, but that particular one seems to pop up a lot on these forums so it seemed relevant at the time.
It all really comes down to this. Science cannot explain everything because the universe is fucking complicated, and science comes from our limited ability to understand and observe things. However, the evidence that science has given us massively outweighs the evidence that religion has given us. No, theories are not 'proven'. However, they have had hundreds of very intelligent scientists studying them for decades, as opposed to the ONE AND ONLY semblance of theory that religions have, their holy book and whatever predictions that it managed to get right.

The Big Bang Theory hasn't been proven, just backed somewhat with modern technology and science. Religious beliefs shouldn't be thrown out the door yet, though.
(I am not religious so do not flame me for this post, plz)
What we believe is that when big bang was created, big masses of energy were released and that caused the fusion of different atoms and molecules, which formed water and planets, but the different clashes from different energy sources (could be movement, wind, water, atoms, electricity, etc) formed the first living being which reproduced by bipartition, then they kept to evolve until reptiles were formed, then they kept evolving until they evolved to mammals, the rest is proved to be the neanderthal (sorry for bad spelling, I'm from South America, lol) theory.

Then atheists never took physics.
Like there are no chances in a closed system.
Which, as far as we know, is what the universe is.

Not at all. And God didn't necessarily take only six days. In one verse, (can't remember exactly which) someone asks him how long forever is to him and he says a second. Time doesn't apply to God, so you can't use that argument.
Although he totally could have done it in six. ;)
sorry if this is a double post..
I know no one is going to accept this, but to me this is proof that God exists. When I was in fourth grade, my Dad was in a brutal car accident. He broke all of his ribs, both arms and legs, had a concussion, and had many other injuries. He was in a coma for five days, and everyone was certain he was going to die. Then he randomly just woke up. His bones were completely healed. He also has no lasting damage at all. No one can even explain how his 34 bones that were broken were healed completely in less than a week. Before that, I had doubts about God. I wasn't a full blown atheist, but I had trouble explaining exactly why I was a christian, other than my family was. Now I have absolutely no doubt at all. There have been alot of things that have no explanation other than God in my life.

Yes, because you have proof that it happened, and it just HAD to be god, because there is nothing other than an invisible man that can heal bones.
What I hate are the atheists that are anti-religion. I don't care if you don't want to worship a higher power, but if you dare try to attack and knock down a religious people, then that makes you look like an asshole.

Religion is fucking dumb and every agnostic, deist, theist, pantheist, panentheist, and atheist recognises this. Seriously man, it's fucking dumb and everyone who believes in it is smarter than that. If God exists, he doesn't care about some primates in the desert of some tiny planet in some tiny corner of some tiny galaxy; there is no way we were even a major concern when the universe was being 'made'. And every moral that religion has and that humanism doesn't have is a fucking shit moral, probably about what you're allowed to do with your genitals or how you're allowed to wear your facial hair.
Or god can't think because he's energy.
He's thinking in this thread.
Because technically we are all a part of him.
How about that.
Mind fuck.
Because if god is everywhere then he has to be EVERYTHING. That's what I think. It's just a ridiculous way of saying "we are all together in this universe as matter and we have to look out for our own existence as this giant whole."
something like that.
Do most religious people believe the universe was created by some magical man in the sky just because he wanted to?

Well, that's the thing. We don't know why the universe came into being. However, if we believe in a God, we know that at least God knows.

well i think some do, but its not a specific "religion". so many atheists believe different things.
