You aren't supposed to fucking trace it frame-for-fucking-frame to get nice fluidity you are supposed to invent the in-betweens by yourself and just get the rough keyframes from the footage you are rotoscoping.

But all of this advice will fall on deaf ears because Newgrounds is full of fucking idiots

Dude. Don't be so quick to judge. Maybe from your experiance you have seen some people do that, and maybe they feel more comfortable that way.
But just because you say it's wrong, doesn't make it absolutely, 100%, no questions asked, wrong.

Rather than yelling at people, and calling them "fucking idiots," try to be more helpful. If you respectfully tell people that that is the proper way to do a rotoscope, maybe give examples, and some more helpful feedback, I can almost guarantee you that people WILL listen.
If you just yell, and call them twits, they won't listen, and you're not helping in the slightest bit.

So maybe practice up on that, and come back when you've been a member longer than two weeks, and actually see first hand that Newgrounds isn't just a bunch of incompitant slobs.

On another note.
This does look like an interesting collab!
I'm having trouble thinking of a good scene. But, even if I do, I can't ensure I have the time to do a part. But best of luck to you either way.

GAH!

I heard Disney even rotoscoped a bit back when they made Cinderella.
Just so they can model some of the difficult motions better...

I like the no gore rule, too, but if someone does something extra creative with it, then I'm not going to say no. The reason for this is I'm remembering a flash I saw a while ago of a sort of psychedelic bullet that was tearing through stuff in slow motion. It was pretty brutal at moments, but it was also quite beautiful. I can't remember who did it, or I'd link it as an example...

uhh i think it was Korn who did that slow motion bullet thing. Yep Korn here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K27d7Ut5b Xo&feature=related

That's not what I was talking about. It was a flash submitted to Newgorunds. I though ZekeySpaceyLizard did it, but I couldn't find it.

Hm, I noticed this submission has a bullet involved in it, and it seems to be traveling in slow motion -- Maybe that is what you were talking about.

He's obviously investing. If it gets front page he will get way over $250 from ads.

I have Flash CS4.
Also, how is the money being re-awarded?
WTA?
3rd Split?
Are you sending via paypal or check?

Another thing, can I draw items in movie clips and then move them each frame, or is that not considered fbf?
Are we allowed to use filters?

Oh and about the gore, I planned on making a slo-mo samurai scene where one guy was getting sliced in half or something, very dramatic and hopefully beautiful.
I assume it's acceptable.

I'm not putting ads in this.

I wrote that comment before CS4 was out. :P

I was planning to use paypal. Moving moviclips around isn't FBF. I mean, it sort of is, but it isn't what I'm looking for with this. Filters are fine if you really need them, but try not to lag the flash.

Well it's going to be incredibly difficult and time consuming to animate slo mo without using tweens but I'll give a shot.
Oh and what about vcam?
I started to use it but I thought it might not be acceptable so I'm just going to move everything around on the stage instead.

I know, but that was sort of the point of this. It's challenging, but it's also only 5 seconds.

I kind of left that one up in the air on purpose. You can use it if you want.

No. front page with ads does not mean over 250 at all. Rotation got front page (100k views in total) and only around $10. So investing 250 in a collab wouldnt be wise.

the no gore rule is probably there just to make people create something more creative and interesting than the usual slow mo killing sprees you see all the time

Not really. Gore is not "beautiful" in anyway. It is sickening and should never be taken lightly. True I'm on newgrounds which has all kinds of "adult" content. "Adult" is a very poorly named term, because contrary to popular belief, watching this kind of content does not make you more adult or mature. If anything it does the opposite. Anyway it's acceptable here so I'm not going to say your collab can't contain it, but that does mean I do not want to be part of it.

I'm not sure about Cinderella, but they did do a little in Sleeping Beauty. The thing about rotoscoping is, if you just trace frame-by-frame and don't exaggerate the movements at all, you often end up with something that looks pretty stiff. It's great for helping to create a realistic motion, but you've still got to draw with the basic principles of animation in mind, or else it won't look as good as it could.

Anyhow, this is a fun idea. I've never tried to animate in slow motion before, but I might have to give it a go. :)

Well, it's been over 10 days and no WIPs or final stuff sent to me. Is anyone working on this? If not I'm going to cancel. : /
