You think you're watching something relatively calm and quiet, and then all of the sudden someone/something jumps up right at the camera and "screams" as loud as possible.

I've only done it once.

Me and my friends were being perverted and googled Jessica Alba. And I know all of you know the "picture load really slowley trick". So it gets about halfway done of showing the picture, then BAM. Loudess scream I've ever heard. It made me jump.

The picture wasn't scary at all though. It was a hot chick dressed up as a werewolf. Its the scream that does it.

I remember when screamers where first getting introduced to the interwebs.

After getting scared shitless by the first few. I remember turning my sound off and backing as far away from the computer as I could, letting the video I was watching run through, then if I didnt see a scary face pop up at the end from afar, I would move to normal position and watch again.

Fuckin hated screamers.

when i was about 7 my sister accidently clicked on one and she said it was scary. But being a stupid 7 year old i keep looking and then face appeared and screamed and theres still a crater in the floor where the planet i shit hit the ground.

mine was the maze game for my first which I quickly managed to react and close the page yet more or less half alive. then was some illusion saying "stare at the screen for five mins BAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!" which fucking scared the shit outta me and ruined illsuions for me seen as you have to stare at them to understand.

The one where I am banging *insert your mom's name here* and it accidentally slips into her ass.

We recently saw one in my Psychology class, but I saw it coming yet still didn't turn away. I was 90% sure it was a screamer, but that 10% kept me looking, and sure enough, it was. But that wasn't the scariest.

The scariest one I had was the first time I ever experienced one. My sister sent it to me, and it said, "Look closely at this room and you'll see a ghost" or something. Would have been pretty obvious to anybody who had seen one before, but as I said, this was my first time and I'd never heard of them before. I had the sound pretty far up and it was like one full minute until the scream, and I had my face really close to the screen, and then it happened, and I literally fell of my chair and started screaming "SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT". By the way this was back in like 3rd grade. Crazy stuff.
