It may have been yesterday, but today is a perfect day to reflect. John Lennon was one of the greatest songwriters who ever lived and an A-list voice. The problem with his birthday is that it's essentially groundhog day for Yoko Ono. Once a year she comes out on her little balcony, looks for a shadow beside her and announces whether or not her husband is still dead in that mindbendingly hideous voice of hers. 28 years and her response has never changed.

Don't get me wrong, the Beatles were good. But just like Kurt Cobain, Lennon's death over-hyped his music. They were truely the first band to make real good use of the electric guitar and that more than anything attributed to their fame. I really wouldn't wonder about what their music would be like if they were still around today. Either they would of broken up or have crappy music. I.E. Metallica, Aerosmith
