You non-believers MUST stop bashing faith, because it only makes you look stupid and gets me annoyed. If you don't believe in it, leave it alone. Also, at least understand it if say its dumb and retarded. Jeez.

The Bible was a simple book, nothing more.

The people believed in that book, nothing but semi-fiction of this world.

This can be told with many religions, not just Christianity, or any other that believes in the Bible,A God, Diety, or Higher Being.

You don't see new religions coming up today, because we are smart, but it is hard breaking our great tranditions, in either fear of exclusion, punishment etc.

Today, In the world we live in now, less and less are believing in anything, accepting what is closer and closer to what acually is the truth, the truth is that there is no God,Diety,Higher Being, or anything, the answer of the Universe, how we were created can be mixed into a pot of what is true, It is endless, evolution is only natural, and yes, saying that evolution is true, it's because it is, but that does not believe that the Big Bang is true, This is not possible, there in answer, it cannot be described, only that this is endless, we are only nothing compared to what is true.

There is no start, There is no end.

For those who accept, accept, while others depend on fairy tales for support. (religion)

We will adapt we are only a new beginning, possibility for one without an end.

The Universe is endless.

This is only the beginning.

People say you can't apply logic to religion because it is inherently illogical. Well, doesn't that say something about religion? I can say have faith that apples are the Supreme Rulers of the Planet, and you'd say, "That's ridiculous", and I'd say, "It doesn't matter, I have faith." You say this is an extreme example, but I disagree; it is exactly the same as religion. Of course religious folk say, "The Bible", and I say, "What proof is that? A bunch of fake stories that were told a long time ago to help explain the universe and humanity." It is ridiculous that people still believe in religion. I sat in the car for 20 minutes listening to an NPR thing about the guy who made the movie Religulous, I think it's called that. It was awesome!

Umm, no. If you have any extremely religious person in the Christian faith, almost any at least, they will totally push their religion onto everyone around them. It's just their nature because they're so caught up in it being true and if they see anyone 'opposing' morals or going against the Holy Bible(which I'm beginning to think is outdated and written for the very simple mind centuries ago) they totally turn into hypocrites and will do whatever they can to go against eliminate this 'threat'.

Same can go for extreme atheists. They're equally as retarded.

Whether God exists or not, we won't know until either A) Our death or B) The freakin' apocalypse. Science can't disprove faith, and faith can't disprove science. It's completely pointless and stupid to blab on about if there is a God. Believe in what you believe in, and respect others beliefs.

I don't think that extremists in any religion are an accurate gauge of anyone. I know a ton of muslims and none of them think that people should be killed for not beieving in Islam. Anyone who would hypocrisize (improvised word :]) their teachings to "remove" or "purify" "threats" or "infidels" shouldn't be considered a person of that religion.

I agree on your point "Science can't disprove faith, and faith can't disprove science", for the most part. Hoever, I do disagree with it to an extent. There is science is religions (or the ones I have attempted to study at least [Christianity and Catholicism]), just as there is faith in Atheism. The science in faith, you should look at my other post, since I don't want to write it again, and the faith in science is that they accept the fact that the universe created itself completely on faith the way we (religious people) accept that god is infinite.

Agnosticism as far as I can tell is based on the complete LACK of faith. If nothing else it is more scientific than Atheism. The refuse to take anything on faith alone, and some of the greatest minds ever have been Agnostic.

The main problem I see with trying to reason out God is this. Reason does not apply to the controller. It is the same as a lucid dream. If God (to quote PSY_JACK) "want(s) a dog, with the head of the President, dancing with a scuba diver. . . (he) makes it." (the book was talking about a lucid dreamer, not God)

^ TOTALLY let myself reword something already said on this thread, but I like the way I said it just as much :).

Personally, I think its better not to get preachy and annoying. I just let people live their lives, and tell them what they want to know if they ask. Works for me, and people don't hate me (as far as religion goes. . .).

A point of question for you preachy Atheists and Agnostics out there, people tend to try to live a good life when they follow a religion, so why is it a problem? I can understand someone getting preachy about religion out of sympathy for the others well being in the long run, but being preachy about NOT believing? Why is it a problem if somone believes in God?

I say, we put this whole thing behind us, because people get angry about religion frequently, and anger is no fun.

I'm not being serious, I'm just entertaining myself. It's funny to see how over and over again people attempt to make a ''controversial'' discussion about God and yadda yadda... you just happen to have made a ridiculous one at that.

However it will have effect since internet cavemen like to shout at each other and you just gave them a reason to.

At my camp last year there was a extremely catholic kid in my cabin. The first night he called me a sinner for not praying and i told him I don't believe in god and he bombarded me with all this stuff about how i wasn't really human then and that i was going to hell and all ths shit.

I just said this,
"okay, go fuck yourself man"
"your going to hell, your words have no affect on me"
"You started yelling at me frist, keep your beliefs to youself dude"
"tolerance is a sin and sin i shall not, your going to hell"
"Christ man, you sound like a fucking nazi"
"I follow the teaching of the holy bible and only that"
"Alright really fuck you dude"

Ever since then its just been like really, they brainwashed a kid to believe that being tolerant of others is a sin. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD?

Ah, I'm glad you brought this up. You know the Al Qaeda and the Abu Sayyaf? They kill for and in the name of Allah. They do horrible things for their god, because it's what they think is meant to be done. Just like long ago when the Spanish was all powerful, they forced they're religion on everyone and killed anyone who opposed it. Puritans-hung everyone that even sneezed. 'WWWIITTTCCCHH!!!' *snicker* It entertains me reading about certain stupidities of humans. People totally disregard some of the most important things in religion 'Though shall not kill' 'Love thy neighbor as yourself' etc. Who knows though. Perhaps the gods meant for us to kill each other in the name of themselves. =/

Meh, there is 'faith in science' and 'faith in atheism' but they don't see it as faith. They see it as they're right and intellectually superior. It think saying that there's fact in science is a more accurate wording.

Agnosticism as far as I can tell is based on the complete LACK of faith. If nothing else it is more scientific than Atheism. The refuse to take anything on faith alone, and some of the greatest minds ever have been Agnostic.

Complete lack of faith? How do you figure? I'd think that they're on the borderline between having faith and having none whereas atheists have none.

The main problem I see with trying to reason out God is this. Reason does not apply to the controller. It is the same as a lucid dream. So you're saying we're in control of our own world basically. Exactly. We don't see God helping us really. He doesn't help all those people starving in Africa. He doesn't stop the evil in humans from making us stupid. He doesn't do anything we can see if he does do anything at all. We pray, and hope he will answer our prayers. Sure, most of the time he 'answers'. Coincidence of not, we'll never know until we die.

Personally, I think its better not to get preachy and annoying. I just let people live their lives, and tell them what they want to know if they ask. Works for me, and people don't hate me (as far as religion goes. . .).

Exactly. Religion and beliefs shouldn't be expressed because there are too many intolerant people out there. Best thing to do is just believe stongly in what you believe in and respect others beliefs.

Human stupidity.
