Nope, I'm fully American *winks*. Languages are my hobby, and I took German and French in high school. Now I take Chinese and will continue German next year.
Everyone should learn German, its really a glorious glorious language.

I know what I read, and what I read was biased. And on top of that, it said NOTHING to prove your point, which is probably why you completely avoided replying directly to my last post, you know, with you not having an argument anymore and all.
I am getting very tired of this debate leaving great gaping holes in the boards. Punk, perhaps it would be a good idea to post links to both sides of a debate, not just one. And Jim, find ONE site, just ONE site that deals with serious issues without bias. I don't think you can do it. Everything ever written contains a bias, with the possible exception of school lunch menus.
EVERY OPINION CONSTITUTES A BIAS. And serious issues generate strong opinions, and the people who write these things are the ones with the strongest opinions.
I challange you, Jim, to find an unbiased article on, (hmm... want to really test JIm) the PATRIOT act. If you can find an unbiased article on that, you can find one on anything.

If you read the site we are talking about you would understand the kind of bias I am talking about.

I'm not talking about little bits of bias, the links punk often gives are filled with bias. Everyone knows that every opinion is bias, and people can have opinions and still write a fairly unbiased article, but when the author clearly writes his article in hopes of expressing his opinion then you can't really trust any of the facts in that article unless they themselves are back up with sources.

You know the type of bias I am talking about, and the fact that you would assume that I don't know that all things have bias is insulting. Perhaps if you did read the links we are talking about, then you would understand why I keep calling them biased, if there was a word for extremely biased I would use it, but to my knowledge there isn't.

Because I am not currently in a debate with bringerofbadinfo, if I was in a debate with him and he posted a biased link, I would critisize it, but I'm too busy to go searching throughout every link in this forum.

Oh, lyddiechu - interesting about the German. I'm starting German next fall, have to take four semesters, decided to really try. Then study abroad in a Germanic country sometime too.
I took French all throughout HS, and just took one semester of Spanish, but.. I think I'd be more interested in learning German. Going to start over the summer, learn some vocab.

I'm not proud to be an American. I'm not 'patriotic.'
Where I was born was totally random. If I was acouple hundred miles further north, I'd be Canadian. What then?
Like someone else said, I'm lucky to be an American. But proud? I'm not too sure..

I will admit to not having read all of this topic so excuse me is this has already been said, but I know there is social mobility in America. My family were immigrants who came to America looking for a better life. Once here they in fact found it and even got the opportunity to farm their own land. That social mobility has continued into the 20th and 21st centuries because our economy is knowledge-based making us very much a meritocracy. My father, the son of farmers, bettered himself and his position through working hard and taking full advantage of the public education this country offers. Rather than be a farmer he pursued his goals and is now better off than his parents ever were. I know this may sound a bit sappy, but things like this are possible because in America you can pursue your own dreams and goals and better your life through your own effort. The greatest thing about about America, about freedom, is the ability to do that. It's what this country was founded on and what my family and millions of others came here for. They're still coming here for that.

Yes, America does have social mobility. I think someone talked about this earlier, said we don't or sumtin. Yes, there is, but it is overblown, to an extent. And, also, the gap between the workers and the owners (for lack of better nouns) is extreme. No where else (absolutes are dangerous - "no other industrialized country") is there such a disparity in wealth..

Looking at your last post I think a better question is if you are aware. If you can't even refute a claim that you have a shotty debate style without insulting others than you shouldn't be in a political forum.
Classic Sweenism: It's "shoddy", you idiot!!! Can't you spell???
Please, if you are going to insult the intelligence of all of us by casually forgetting your entire post history (we haven't), at least type in capitals. Ever think I'm just too old for this kind of bullshit, ie you never disproving anything, but saying it can't be proved, and whining when a whole bibliography hits you? Otr, better yet, deviating wildly from the subject?

Look: PROOF!!!
Resort to insults all you like, just don't whine when people ignore you, dismiss you, and despise you. There is a connection.I am not the one resorting to insults, nor am I the one whining. Either you really love irony or your delusional world is sadder than I thought.
See above. Although I love the twist of irony at the end: "I am not the one resorting to insults...your delusional world is sadder than I thought." Managing to contradict yourself, thereby invalidating anything you say yet again, within a sentence. Keeping to the point, then?
