The main evolutions have come about since I was 16 until now.

At 16, I listened to punk. Lots of Christian punk, lots of punkish rock, etc.

At 17, when I started college, I moved into indie rock. Lots of chill acoustic stuff, even more piano rock and bands with organs, glockenspiels, etc. Things got weird when I discovered Bright Eyes.

While 18 and 19, I dove deeper into obscure indie rock (oddly enough, many of those obscure bands are now mainstream-esque). I got more into the local music scene, so everything I loved, no one had ever heard of. O.o

At 20, I made a friend who had me listen to a lot of metal with him.

While 20 and 21, my best friend started taking me to metal shows. I fell head over heels with everything about it.

Now at 22, keeping everything I've ever loved concerning music and just adding more, I just have an intense passion and love for all good music.

The last 4 shows I've been to were: Squeeze (indie), The Black Dahlia Murder (metal), The Kooks (indie->mainstream poppy rock) and Ghostland Observatory (electro dance rock).

Right now I just listened to Amon Amarth, Alphabeat, Cartel, Buddy Holly and Elliott Smith all in a deliciously diverse row.

I suppose I didn't evolve, per say, I just hunted and gathered great music for my life's soundtrack.

My music hasn't changed that much. I started off listening to bands like Queen and The Beetles.. About the time I was 5 I bought my first CD, Down with the Sickness. Since then, I have listened to a LOT of Rock and Metal, but still find myself preferring older bands against newer Copy-Cat bands. The only thing that really changed was I listen to Queen less (Still love to play "Fat Bottom Girls" on guitar a lot), and more of The Cure, Dead Milkmen, and Dead Kennedys.

No wonder you're so fucked up.

age 1-5 i was just listening to what ever was played, btw my parents love rap. i don't really, i hate the stuff. but i still like some that really talented rap like tupac or biggie. but other than the ones with talent incorporated, i think rap is bringing our country down.

Well it seems weird to me but I didn't have my own musical taste until I was 14/15 and I got ditched by my old friends. I was like their lapdog so whatever they liked I seemed to like too. I remember back when I was friends with them I liked the song Frontier Psychiatrist - The Avalanches, more for it's jokeish nature than anything else but they slatted me for it. The only music I seemed to enjoy back then was Motown music which I was brought up on really, still love it too.

So yeah skip forward when I became a loner and well I still just heard whatever was popular via radio and tv still, then got the internet and discovered the Limewire.. And yeah one day a girl in my class who was big on her hip hop/ r&b music was like "Leanne, have you heard this song, I think you'd like it?" No idea why she thought I would as I didn't have my own favourites then really, and it was Time Is Running Out - Muse, and well I fell in love, from there I downloaded the album at home via Limewire (naughty naughty), and for the first time I had a band that I was actually really into, that whole was amazing to me (Absolution), still is my favourite, but yes from there I just seemed to have a new found respect for music and it became a complete joy to listen, rather than just listen to the popular stuff I wanted to listen to all I could and still new listening to new things.

Genre never seems to be a big deal if I really like something, but my first love will always be for Indie Rock music, though I've branched out onto Dance Punk more now.

BORING HISTORY.

AT the very beginning, I just got whatever I heard of, which was basically AC/DC. I got a little bored of that so at first in sixth grade I listened to any mainstream rock. Blink-182, Simple Plan, Sum41 etc...I continued to listen through the seventh grade and all my music was basically mainstream. Then I got EXTREMELY interested in Green Day (as you can tell, this account was made when I was in 7th grade) Over that summer I was introduced to the Audio Portal. I got a little interested in Electronica from artist Cornandbeans and Dimrain47.

So its eighth grade and I'm still interested in Green Day, I got more eletronica, listened to other artist, still mainstream things. Then in the summer of eighth grade, I broke free of mainstream. I mainly then listened to electronica from Newgrounds. I also became a giant Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. The beginning of ninth grade I loved electronica, stopped listening to Green Day and other mainstream artist altogether. I think I took a slight turn into mainstream pop, but just a couple of songs.

Then the second semester of ninth grade comes and I got interested in rock again, except I wanted to go deeper. I also then got interested in Metal. I started listening to Marilyn Manson, System of a Down and many others.

Now comes the summer, I started getting whole albums and tripled my music collection, started listening to many others, such as Rage Against the Machine and others.

Then starts tenth grade, where I really diversified myself in the rock/metal genre. I started listening to artist from Lightspeed Champion to Cannibal Corpse. Then I also got slightly back into my previous roots. Electronica, and such.

I first listened to whatever I was able to find, around my sixth school year I didn't like music that much anymore, during the lower secondary school I liked techno a lot.

Now I'm a lot in to punk rock music, especially Sum41's motivation is my favorite song now.

So I wasn't really interested to music until my 7th school year much.

When I was very young, I used to listen to anything. My father loves music and has a pretty diverse taste, so I heard everything from 80s synth pop to death metal. Again, when I was young, ANYTHING was ok to listen to.

As I got older, my taste got a little bit more specific. I suppose it started when I bought my first CD, which was The Offspring's Americana. From there, I kind of went in a bad direction and became obsessed with Limp Bizkit. I also liked other music of the same style (KoRn, etc.). Then I got into SOAD, and they're actually ok (I'm not as ashamed to have listened to them... their first album was pretty good).

Once I got into high school, my musical taste changed dramatically. I went through a punk phase and listened to The Sex Pistols, The Casualties, Rancid, Dead Kennedys, The Exploited, etc.

Soon after that, I just became completely Nirvana obsessed and wanted oh so badly to be Kurt Cobain. I taught myself how to play guitar, started a band (our playlist consisted mainly of Nirvana songs) and had a lot of fun.

At some point (I can't remember if it was before or after Nirvana; I think it was mixed in there) I started gettting into classic psychadelic rock music from the 60s and 70s.

When I was in grade 11, I tried some new things (hehe) and realized my love for electronic music. This started with Benny Benassi and moved onto more electro sounding stuff (Ladytron and the likes). Since then I have been a huge fan of electronic music (many different genres).

Right now I like all kinds of music. I suppose I've kept some interest in all of the areas I used to love.

First it was all the cool 90's rock like Bush, Semisonic, R.E.M, Nirvana, Weezer, etc. that I always listened to driving around in my moms shitty ford winstar. Then it was the rock that my older brother always listened to like Staind, Slipknot, Korn, stuff like that. I basically listened to rock, punk and punk pop for a few years. I started listening to a lot of acoustic stuff and more emotional lyrics like Dashboard Confessional, Cat Stevens, Mason Jennings, Joshua Radin, Death Cab, etc. I had always hated rap because of all the stuff that came out during my generation, but I listened to Eazy E, Dr Dre, and Snoop Dogg and I fell in love with all old school rap. I liked it so much that I even Like some newer rap music, Like Tech n9ne, T.I, and Lil Wayne. As of today I like all music except country, from pop to death metal to rap. My favorite is 90's rock though, it brings back so many memories and it's still just as awesome today as it was back then... sigh*.... "Glycerine"..

The first song I remember listening to was "Ready or Not" by the Fugees. That probably led into my liking Hip Hop (as if my blackness had nothing to do with that). I wasn't really into music after that until around the age of 10, when I really liked Wyclef Jean's "Perfect Gentlemen".

After that, I was an RnB nut, listening to Usher all the time. Last year I was exposed to good rock music, so I started liking some rock. It wasn't until earlier this year that I started listening to non-dance song rap. You know, stuff like Joe Budden (i.e. meaningful rap). I still prefer RnB over rap, but I like both.

At first, I listened to mostly rap and hip hop. Then I got to rock with some rap in it (i.e. Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit). Then, I progressed more into harder and heavier stuff. Like, after Linkin Park, I began to listen to pure soft rock, and then rock and roll, and then alternative, and then I began getting into metal. I listened to some metal in which I can understand the words, and now I can handle some metal where it sounds like complete gibberish. The only level I'm not at yet is grindcore pure screaming, satan worshipping, skullfucking menace metal.

well, like, you couldn't, like, find it because, like, you're dumb, god

My music taste has pretty much mimicked my sisters, much to her chagrin.

I remember listening to a Now XX album I bought, and my sister showed me Feeder - Buck Rogers, and that started me off. She'd just started coming out of her ska-punk phase, and I picked up the tail-end of that, and started listening to ska, rock, classic rock, and indie.
That then grew into more and more indie focused, until now, when it's starting to branch out a bit in all directions, back into classic rock, a bit into acoustic-pop, and a bit into the more indie-esque areas of hip-hop, dance, electronica and stuff.

Before I had the net, I listened to video game music and John Williams. Which still rules, obviously.

Then when I got the net, I downloaded a bunch of power metal. I don't know why I liked Power Metal. At least I got the good bands like Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Helloween and Hammerfall and not the shit you people listen to ( DragonForce and friends ).

Then I just turned to 80s music. Hair metal, 80s pop... I love it all. Still do and will die loving that shit. Everything awesome in entertainment comes from the 80s.

EVERYTHING >: (

Well, I really only got into music two years ago, so I guess I can really just post the order in which I listened to things..

1. Video game music, such as Sonic and what not.
2. Techno. I grew to hate it after awhile.
3. Nu-Metal, Linkin Park and stuff.
4. Heavy and Thrash Metal, like Metallica and Megadeth.
5. Bizarre music from artists like Buckethead and Gorrillaz.
6. Progressive Metal (very recent)
7. Now I'm into Prog, Funk, Fusion Jazz, Thrash Metal, Death Metal (if done properly), virtuoso guitarists, etc.

I started out as predominantly classic rock and progressive rock, something I picked up from my dad, and slowly progressed into the rock genre more and more until about 5 years ago. When I was back in high school, I discovered ska music and its wonderful sound which lead me really far into the ska scene. Nowadays, I'm really into ska and rock, but I've developed a taste for jazz, techno, and, oddly enough, British rap.

I'm gonna go back to my room and be awesome.

Everyone starts out listening to what they hear on the radio like Blink-182 and Linkin Park and other bands like that, and then slowly start discovering music that doesn't get much recognization with the use of the internet which is when we all really find out what music pleases us the most.
