Self explanatory, really, how has your taste in music change over time?

At first, I just listened to the stuff that came on the radio and TV, but at around 15 I got into classical rock, which lead on to a short progressive rock period. From there I took a rather sharp turn to punk and Hardcore. Then a few years ago, I totally rediscovered hip-hop, and these days, I listen to it predominately, but other storng genres are Punk (still), reggae/dancehall and Jazz (to which I'm just getting in to, still got a lot to learn).

Unlike most guys in Finland I never had, and never will have a phase when I listen to just metal and metal only.

I don't take revenue from my profile.

At first, it was whatever someone I know listened to. Like Blink 182. Then it was Nirvana which I was borderline obsessive about. After that, it widened to most things. Now, while it's widen, I usually listen to Placebo and/or Nine Inch Nails the most.

I've made my mind up, there's going to be trouble.

Originally I just listened to whatever my parents had on or whatever was popular on telivision and assumed it was "right music." I still listen to a great deal of Jazz, Funk, Soft Rock, R&B, Latin, French, Smooth Jazz, Rhythmic Soul, Vocal (Traditional Pop), and Ballads of various genres although lately I prefer Adult Contemporary. I've recently discovered some of the better falsetto contemporary bands of the 70's and enjoy listening to them. I'm stuck on the oldies, I just can't seem to find modern music that suits me. My tastes are pretty diverse and I'm open minded, but there are some popular genres I can't stand.

Up until I was 12, I really didn't listen to music. When I turned 12, I bought Tommy by the Who and everything changed. For a year I listened to the standard classic rock, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Who, Deep Purple, etc, but when I turned 13, I started listening to more broad categories of music.

I started listening to metal, starting with stuff like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden and that's blossomed since then. When I turned 14 and onwards, I got into electronic music like Einsturzende Neubauten and Skinny Puppy. Also around that time I got into bebop and free-form jazz like John Zorn and whatnot. I'm 15 now and I think I have a rather broad taste for my age.

I was gullible and I'd listen to just about anything that was on radio, movies, or tv at ages 5-11. At 12, I got into classic rock, and I was big into Guns N Roses, AC/DC, and the like. At 13 I listened to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, and Green Day. At 14 I was big into metal like Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Metallica, and Megadeth. At 15, I think I grew up and realized that there's more music out there than rock and metal so I listened to Muse, They Might Be Giants, Buckethead, Butthole Surfers, and got into more musical genres.

At first, I was in to real, real classic rock, and I wouldn't ever listen to modern. Though, my tastes started getting more modern, and I started kinda getting into heavy stuff, and now I listen to stuff like Bloc Party, CAKE, etc. etc., though I still love, respect, and listen to the classics. I still prefer classic anyway, but I just kinda opened up to other kinds of music.

Well the first album I ever bought was "Dookie". It was the '90s, I was angsty, you know how it was. So I pretty much lived off that album until I was 15, when I started getting into ska and shit. I started listening to The Bosstones, Less Then Jake and other stuff until I was about 16 when I got into Black Flag, Bad Brains and generic Hardcore music.

Now I'll listen to just about anything.

I hope everybody had a real, real good time.

At first I didn't have any specific genre. I listened to basically anything. Then a bit into rap and hip hop, slowly went over to rock. Then metal, rock, and a few radio songs, after that I listened to punk for a year, and now I'm into All of the above, but listening more to the melodic part of music now, instead of the vocals.

Well sometimes my taste would devolve into something less.

Beatles -> Nsync -> Music Tv -> System of a down/slipknot -> The killers -> Techno -> Megadeth -> Phish/Rx Bandits/The Cardigans

The bands just represent the genre that I liked.

At first I was a little wigger listening to rap.

Then I was a little fag listening to backstreet boys.

Then I was a little punk listening to rock.

Then I was a little hick listening to country.

Now I listen to anything but ridiculous boy-bands, emo crap, and most mainstream rap.

Pretty straightforward for me, actually. When I first got broadband, I wanted to download loads of songs, and my mate just kept recommending stuff to me. Mostly pop-punk stuff like Green Day, Blink-182 and Sum-41. Stuff like that. From there I moved onto more general punk like Stiff Little Fingers and The Ramones, and then Dropkick Murphys got me into Celtic Punk, and then it was actually MickTheChampion from here who told me loads of other celtic bands to download over MSN, including The Pogues who then became my favourite band.

So yeah, I started listening to music properly at about 13, and by 14 or 15 I was listening to the same stuff I do now.

I never had any interest in music untill I started going to highschool. All of the stuff I listen to is underground, so nobody ever has any idea what I'm talking about when I bring up my taste in music.

I used to listen to gangsta rap. Then i got eased into rock by bands like GnR and Tenacious D. I got introduced to the likes of metallica, slayer etc. and found more and more metal bands to love. Eventually, 50 cent and pals were purged from my playlists.

My musical tastes used to be very closed to usually what my brothers listened to (A ton of random stuff anywhere from the Foo Fighters to strange anime stuff)... But now my tastes are much broader (With 90% of the anime music locked away forever), I listen to many forms of rock, the only one I haven't really found myself getting into is classic... Meh.

I didn't seriously get interested in music until I turned 14 and became a freshmen in High School. I started out with the music taste of your average 14 year old(Nirvana, Slayer, AC/DC, Guns n' Roses, Queen, Kiss and Metallica etc)

10th grade I got started getting into softer(Mostly British) music. Beatles were the big one, I ended up buying Sgt Peppers Lonely Heats Club and their 27 #1 hits album. I also got into The Who and The Rolling Stones. By then I started looking down on metal acts like Slayer and Metallica and prefered pop music a bit more.

11th grade I started getting into J-pop and orchestra stuff(Mostly Miyazaki film soundtracks) I started getting more into older Punk and New Wave music.

Senior year it was still the same but just got into more and more Punk/New Wave groups.

Now? Still the same, found those music genre's to suit me well. Still enjoy pop music and J-pop very much as well.

blehhhh, my taste is pretty scattered.

It started when I was a toddler, I used to listen to like techno ish type stuff (Dunno why i was into it at such a young age), then when I started to get around 8 or 9 I started listening to stuff like Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Motorhead.Around age 10 is when I started getting into guitar, so I started liking metal and alternative (My current taste), and that was also when I became the biggest fan of A7X alive.

I went deeper and deeper into metal. I started out as a kid listening to random stuff on the Now that's what I call music! CD's. Limp Bizkit's song My Way from their 3rd CD hit the radio when I was around age 12, and liked how it was a little heavier than the things I previously listened to. Over time I grew out of that and got into the stuff I listen to today, Death Metal and Black Metal from the 80's and early 90's. Bands like Naglfar, Mayhem, Burzum, Darkthrone, Emperor, Cannibal Corpse, Sepultura, Deicide, Mercyful Fate, Xasthur, Azaghal, Kaltetod, Veil, Morbid Angel, Impaled, Punish, Sodom, Unleashed...okay list is getting to long haha.

Well at first I was into rap only, then in middle school I got into rock, metal, and random stuff that you would find in revolver magazine type music. I was into that for a few years then when i was a junior in High School I got into reggae and more easy listening music such as Incubus and 311. Then when I was in college I got into the real hardcore scene and dropped the metal.

So as of now I am into Emo, screamo, metal-core, rock, pop, pop-rock, rap, post-hardcore. Just basically a bit of everything.
