Swords and Sandals 3 Oct. 5th, 2008 @ 12:20 PM

Well, with the release of Swords and Sandals 3, just a few days ago, I decided to buy the full version.
I would have to rate it a 6.5/10.
I loved how Oliver Joyce put out the new features, such as the new create-a-gladiator where you can choose between races (man, skeleton, zombie, yeti etc.) and how you could shift your gladiators height and weight. I also love how bad assed the armor and weapons look on your gladiator.
Despite these upsides, I still have a few hang-ups about the full version of this game. First off, if you have not yet bought the full version, and have only played the demo version, you can't get any farther than Chapter 4. But, when you do buy the full version once you get to Chapter 6, The Yeti Project, it will completely catch you off-guard. You have to fight a 9 foot Yeti which, in my case, has enough power to kill you 3 times with just one blow. This will be the hardest Arena champion you will face
throughout the entire game. My Win/Lose ratio currently is 582 Wins/ 48 Losses. And if you are wondering how many of those losses were from The Yeti Project; Around 43 or so. You need to be really patient when you fight The Yeti Project because it is going to take forever to kill him unless you can manage to hit only critical hits on him, and he somehow misses.
So, moving onward. The reason that The Yeti Project will be the hardest Champion you face is because once you beat him (which will take forever -_-) the talent points you already have in talent boxes will increase OUT OF CONTROL (at least mine did.) The game is meant for you to be limited to 10 talent points per talent box. But somehow, after The Yeti Project, it goes wild! This is the upturn for the game, especially if your talents in Warfare are the ones that increase, like mine, because after this you'll be able to kill arena champions, if you're using strong melee weapons, with just one hit. Once you can do this, I recommend increasing your agility so when you charge your enemies, you hit them with the first shot, and kill them, unless they dodge or parry. Every Arena Champion, after The Yeti Project, becomes simple to beat. The highest my gladiator hit was around 243000, with the whirlwind attack.
So, after the Yeti Project, you still have many more champions to fight before you get to Ultratus Omega. But even though you become the strongest gladiator around, it eventually becomes boring that you can beat even Ultratus Omega with one hit. Then you can just keep playing over and over again and earn lots of gold, for awhile. Because eventually, you'll become too high of a level that Ultratus Omega can't even compare to you and beating him won't be worth as much. So it gets boring since there's not much of a challenge against you, and you can't go back and beat up past Arena Champions, so you're only stuck fighting Ultratus over and over again and buying new equipment.
Here are my gladiators Talent Stats

Thank god you blurred out the name. I heard that if you didn't block it out, we'd be able to hack into the company's database and retrieve your bank account details.

Oh, and what's your bank account number and sort code?

This too will pass.

Even I didn't fall for that. A name that long couldn't certainly fit in the space you blurred out.

I think we must invest on maximum points of strength, parry and dodging right from the beginning (forget magic or long ranged weapons - we swifts you in 3 rounds, regardless). Some say he is trial and error, but i don't agree. Sometimes, ocasionly, he miss a streak of blows and only then you have a chance. Other possibility is to achieve critical hits or grievous hits over him (one of each will be sufficient). But until then... despair! I'm stuck as well, and waiting for my gladiator to hit critical or grievous punchs, and surpass the Yeti! Why now this champion, and not later?
How about you? What did you achieve?

Hello, "deleted". I bought the game on Fizzy, but I'm stuck with the Yeti. After reading your text, I realise I've done a mistake, cuz I bought the game thinking it would be balanced along the levels, but no. What was your winning strategy for the Yeti? High strenght? Luck?

Best regards.
