Threats on the internet

I'd like to begin with a big facepalm. Why do some people make threats on the internet? Why do people try to start e-fights? Do they honestly think that by posting, "I WILL COME ROUND TO YOUR HOUSE AND BREAK EVERY BONE IN YOUR BODY WITH YOUR STICK YOU HIPPY HOMO YOU GAY BOY NOBHEAD" that you will fear them? What exactly is the point to such childish insults? Especially when the author of said insult claims to be 27?

I guess for some people, the internet is serious business...

Do you get this as well? And does it give you the same feeling of, "This is why the world sucks"?

I encounter this more on Xbox Live than anything. Me and my friends have heard people first say they will come to our houses and 'beat the shit out of us' (mostly happens when we win at COD4) and we play along by giving them a fake address to go to. One time, the guy said "Yeah, after this game I'm getting on Mapquest, looking up the directions, getting in my car, and you'll soon have me on your doorstep ready to kick you ass!" Stuff like that baffles me because obviously they're not going to do anything.

I wish there was some way that people could get their internet/online gaming rights revoked by doing stupid shit like that. I would be a proud supporter.
