Does eating pickles before you go to sleep really make you have crazier dreams?

I love that there are multiple online communities who are willing to play along with the gag every day when they document their dreams.

Pondering whether I went lucid today, I woke up and my alarm was ringing, although I was still asleep and for like 10 minutes I could see I was awake but I was dreaming and then I realized and I had massive headfuck.

Lucid? Thoughts?

I've already destroyed my health, so I will try this. ( probably not ).
I did notice that the best dreams are the ones you have when you haven't slept for 24+ hours.

I usually feel really good. Just gotta remember to eat if you don't sleep for really long periods of time. Not sleeping causes you to lose mad weight.

It greatly effects sleep. There's a bunch up there but I like to just summarise it all with seratonin.

Nope all me baby. Extensive experimentation went into all of this. I have read a few journals and how-to's though.

I'm going to try this sometime, maybe over winter break. That would be amazing, only problem being it'd interfere with my school schedule and I might fall asleep during class, which would cause trouble.
How long does it normally take for it to work?
More importantly, should I try to stay up all night tonight? I dunno if my mom would be pissed if she woke up to go to work in the morning and I was already up.

one time I was lucid dreaming when i was about 11, I remember the annoying part was I was completely aware I was dreaming, but i couldn't control anything, in fact I got in an argument with my dad over whether I was dreaming or not, we went back and forth with "yes it is," and "no it isn't" for about ten minutes before I woke up.

Great read.

I've had a couple lucid dreams in my lifetime when I was a little kid. In the past few years I haven't been able to recall dreams at all. I could probably count them all on one hand.

Actually, I take back my last post. I've had plenty of dreams for a couple minutes right before my alarm goes off. They're always deeply confusing and they usually bend the truth to make me feel bad about something, so when I wake up I often feel guilty or something.

incredible post, you've pretty well inspired me. Several things in your post resonated with me. I've always been interested in messing around with my internal clock. like some weekends I just stay up until seven in the morning, gaining about five extra hours (if I normally go to bed at two), and then changingy sleep schedule for that weekend, then get back into the hump and smooth out the ruffles during the next week. it might seem pretty trivial in comparison, but I've never really been gusty, or informed enough about side-affects or whatever. I don't know about the walking up early thing though, the way my schedule is now, I go to bed at two or three then wake up at nine-thirty generally, so that might take some getting used to.

I've also been really interested in seeing how the body copes with very small amounts of food scattered throughout the day, and lots of water (like pox's liquid diet thing). I really want to try this, I'll probably wait until exams, and then I'm free to mess up my schedule however I wish over the holidays.

I also love going on walks, not quite as long as yours. How have you managed to go on walks for twelve+ hours? Even if I don't end up lucid dreaming, this is really fascinating stuff to tinker with. Thank you for writing this.

That sounds like it would be extremely unhealthy (for me at least). I'm around 5'10 and 117 lbs, and I haven't been eating very well in the past month so any cuts in diet are out of the question. I usually have only 2 meals a day or even 1 sometimes. I'm already massively sleep deprived as it is and I take any opportunity to make it up. I had a seizure once a few years ago from too much sleep deprivation (several days without sleep) and I don't want to repeat that. And I take naps every few days, usually 1-3 hours. I get 3-6 hours a night usually, sometimes 8, and 12-14, up to 18 occasionally on weekends. I'll pull an all nighter about once a week, usually after having the huge 14-18 hour binge on sleep. I'm the most inconsistent person ever when it comes to sleeping. When I get under 8 hours, I have no dreams, and it seems like I am waking up very soon after going to sleep. When I sleep over 12, I have dozens of them, but most of the time they are either unpleasant, disturbing, or just plain stupid and pointless. And they all jumble together into a haze, I can't remember much when I wake up and it leaves me feeling like shit. Also I feel tired all the time even when I get enough sleep, unless it's really late at night and I have insomnia.

Well someone obviously did so why is it so far fetched (lol pokemon)?

Anyway to the OP: That was a very interesting read, I would try some of that if it was possible to change my sleep cycle (sixth forms a bitch) and it didn't sound so self destructive.

I don't agree all too much with the chemical-based way of inducing good dreams. There are much nicer, safer ways to go about it.

And you know, you might actually improve yourself instead of relying on chemicals.

I remember, I once had a couple of lucid dreams...

I started doing random crap inside a version of my old school cafateria that resembled second life...

It was weird, because I kept worrying I was actually awake.

Another time, I had this really long sequence of events that were fairly coherent, come to think of it...

Though one of the worst feelings imaginable is when a lucid dream turns nightmarish... though the key thing with those is that almost all nightmares pass quickly.

But I really must try that. I've attempted lucid dreaming before, but not on a scale as to 'live' in my dreams, 100% aware. Never really been that sleep deprived before, I suppose. Though I believe I once spent about half an hour on one of my longer dreams wandering about...

P.S. Sex is in fact possible inside lucid dreams... I've done a bit orf exploring myself.

At 10/1/08 08:31 PM, HahaBears wrote: very, very cool. One thing you might add to this is actually KNOWING when you're sleeping. In order to control your dreams you need to know you're in one. One easy way of doing this, is to try flipping a light switch anywhere on/off. If nothing happens - you're dreaming.

Lucid dreams allow you to contact the deepest most memories of human subconsious.
If you're into it, I suggest watching the awesome rotoscoped philosophy film 'Waking Life'.

I've yet to truely lucid dream due to being in school and having things to concentrate on, but when I'm given the chance I reaaalllly want to do this. I can't wait! Great tips!

If that's what lucid dream is, I've had one before.

It went like this:

I was on a bus to Vietnam, then I realized you couldn't ride a bus to nam, and I realized I was in a dream. So I wildly shouted "this is bullshit" and broke through the back of the bus, and suddenly I was in my living room. Where I summoned a hot nude blonde girl and had sex with her.

I was completely aware of it, and I had complete control.

PS: what type of pansy likes to hear music when they have the ability to control anything and everything?
