Monthly Audio Contest 2008 - October Flight in Freedom!.

Flight in Freedom!?
:Where do you get these fruity names?
This month's contest is all about imagery. Every song is based off an

image, an emotion. Otherwise you get a string of notes that make no

sense. These songs, are fail.

We provide for you this image, founded by our own SolusLunatard and we leave the

interpretation of what this picture makes you feel to you. We obviously

will judge how closely the judges feel the song compliments the image.

If we get any angry DnB mixes with death metal growls your songs are

obviously, made of fail.

There are no genre limitations (seriously though, if I see ONE DnB mix

in thar!!!!), no any limitations other then what you set for yourself.

We've rarely had a MAC this open ended, so use that freedom wisely.

(GET IT?! FREEDOM!!!)

About the Contest this month
- You are allowed to submit 2 pieces of music to be judged. We ask that

you do not throw in any more this time.

- You are NOT ALLOWED to submit old pieces of music to this, or any

other future MAC (unless we have a nostalgic MAC?). We have decided

that only entries made for it can deserve to earn from it.

Entering the Contest, Basic Rules
1 - Check the Rules for Submitting Audio to the NGAP. If you still are unsure what's OK to upload and what's not, check this thread. Basically, you must not submit material that include samples you have no copyright/permission to use.

2 - Make a song according to these rules! FO SHO!

3 - Submit the song to the NG Audio Portal.

4 - Go to this thread and post a link to your songpage. You risk not getting on the list of submissions if you do not post links to your songs. Also include the audio title.

5 - Rig wins, everybody else is honorable mentions.

6 - Do not break any of the rules stated in this thread. If you intend on submitting with different profiles, notify Maestrorage or Rucklo or LJCoffee about this. If we find out that you break the rules, you risk being disqualified from this contest. Depending on how serious your actions are, you might get banned from the contest for some time. Basic BBS rules apply in this thread too, of course. If there are posts that are irrelevant for the contest/spam, a moderator will clean it up. This mean your post(s) might get deleted, and you risk getting banned from the NG BBS. All according to the BBS rules and the forum specific Audio Forum rules.

7 - You should have your submission signed up for the contest in this thread by 24th of October. If you cannot post for one reason or another, PM or e-mail MaestroRage or Rucklo or LJCoffee enter a valid reason why you can't do it yourself, and we'll see to it that your contest entry is in. To make it even clearer; - No submissions will be accepted when October 24th is up.
:Unless we extend the deadline, which is rare.

8 - It is now possible to update songs one have submitted to the contest, and it is allowed to do so. However, when the deadline rears its head, no more updates are allowed. The songs will be downloaded by this time, and distributed amongst the judges (or if they choose to download the songs themselves) to avoid the risk of someone updating the song post deadline.

9 10 finalist songs at the end of the day!

Extra notes

- The judging will be done similar to previous MAC's, nobody escapes alive. :) A new judging system was meant to be implemented in this run but I am still not confident that it will work so I will mull over it another month.

- Rules, guidelines and other things that this contest may change as time goes by. If anything changes, you will find out by staying updated to this thread.

- If you have any bright ideas for future MACs, don't be shy to PM Maestrorage or
Rucklo or
LJCoffee
with your ideas.

Tune written in Bb mostly in Lydian mode, tempo 136 bpm. Start with an orchestral part, goes to a piano "balad-ish" part as a bridge to the next part, a jazz improvisation on the theme in a open Latin groove with a Jungle feel.

For submitting to the MAC, always keep the rules on page 1 in mind...

As for me, I'll give each entry a listen and upon that, I'll judge if it goes on or not. I can say that...

and ENTRY CHANGES are strictly NOT allowed! Though, you ARE allowed to "update" your already submitted entry!

Deadline is deadline even if you are 1 second over it! Another easy rule from me...if you're not on the list, you're not on the list.

Keep in mind as well that I'm a musician too. Please don't try to bitch and argue like a no0b with me not beeing on the list.

I have my reasons. Questions why you're not on are allowed via PM of course and if you feel that your entry is 100 % list material, PM MaestroRage and let him check your entry again.

If he's cool with it, then it shall go up on the list within the next update. Remember, these contest involve money. Do you seriously think that your 30 second shit loop will make a cut into the finals? Take your time doing your entries and take this contest seriously.
