Why doesnt audio bring exp?

hi, this is probably a question to the admins, but dont know how to contact them, so just posted here instead.
When I first joined NG i was just into flash, but after a while I started playing some games too.
And now the last month or so Ive found out that it's also some good music on NG.

But one thing I came to wonder was: why doesent ppl get exp for voting on songs?

I think its unfair to those who just wanna listen to music, and it brings ppl away from the audio portal.

But mainly this post is not for trying to change things, I just want to know, because im really curious why the admins made it so that you dont get exp in the audio portal.

Actually you have a point when it comes to attracting new people to the audio portal. Those who already know about it can just vote on flash and go back to listening to music, but yeah if you could vote on music for experience, I think the audio portal would get more traffic from new people.

It might have something to do how the voting bar for music is already loaded when you go to the song page which would discourage people from voting based on listening to the song as some people would just go into a song, vote and go to another one without listening. With flash they have to load up the movie before voting so that requires people to watch at least some of the video before voting.

But what is the percentage of stuff that passes in the Audio portal? I imagine it's quite higher than the Flash portal, so every new audio would really just appear as a save point.

Probably because the audio portal here is of the lowest quality of submission sites. DOA is better than Newgrounds in terms of anything audio related, even in the audio forum. That says a fucking lot.

Wait.. I just looked in there for the first time in like 6 months - Everything is auto pass unless it's stolen and an audio mod is informed right? Well still if it changed and the stuff went under judgement.. Still it'd all pass unless stolen - Not much effort is needed to get through.

The audio mods review the first submission from a new account on everyone, to make sure it's not stolen.
That process takes anywhere from an hour to months and months.
Everything after that is an automatic pass.

This just proves that either the audio mods we have are complete garbage, or they're just being overloaded. I've been here since when czer323 was king, and I've not seen any improvements yet.

The audio system here is terrible and always will be, no matter who does what. But at least one good song is generated out of every few thousand uploaded.

I have to find a new portal soon, expand my tastes a little..

That's why there's hundreds of stolen submissions in the audio portal.

If I know it right, audio moderators check your first submission to the Audio Portal that is it potentially worth putting there and is it stolen or not.

After that they don't check your songs expect if they are suspicious about did you steal something or not.

Oh no. When I harshly insulted the audio mods for not purging the audio portal of stolen songs, I forgot about their job of checking new submissions.

I don't know the statistics of new songs a day, but I can obviously say with nearly 200,000 and counting songs, it's A LOT.

Guess how many songs there are in the world. An uncountable amount. Unless something is pretty fucking obvious, such as, from some very popular mainstream band, it will be nearly untraceable as to whether it's stolen or not.

I have and I always will spit on them for being arrogant, stupid wastes of life that do nothing but sit around and insult people they don't like.

I'm aware that they receive a lot of shit from the admins because they generally fail to do their job and just pass everything after giving up in a short period of time after a quick energy burst.

If the audio portal updates ever come in a few years as not planned, there has to be a stronger force of user-moderation.
There's no way to flag a song as stolen other than bitching to an audio mod, who will 99% of the time ignore you.

All in all? I'd say there's...maybe 3 or so mods that have a good personality, and try. Some on the borderline.
Some are simply outright useless and just post around on their piss colored icons for fun.
They all do their job the best they want to, and the audio portal is slowly filling up with more shit every second and there's nothing they want to do about it.

I've seen their controls, and it's really, really limited. In fact, I think the most they can do right now is ban new submissions, and not much more.

Given a few more years, Tom and Wade are going to be overloaded with legal threats and be forced to hire new mods, or the portal will get a revamp.
Either way, I'm happy. But a few years is a bit long.

If audio did bring exp all it would do is bring dumbass statwhores who would just vote 0 or 5 on everything, and given that audio voting is generally faster than flash voting they definitely would.

I think because it isn't as big a the flash portal yet. Besides if they did, it would have to be revamped big time and more staffers would be needed to check that things wern't stolen. As good an idea as this would be to allow people to gain exp from the audio portal, I doubt it would ever happen.

Audio mods can't delete songs. It's not their fault that people submit stolen songs once they are passed through with a legitimate first song. Audio mods aren't there to judge quality either, so you could submit some really shitty music, get honestly approved by an audio mod, and then submit all of the stolen music you want. Then it's just up to the admins to remove it, and they're busy with more important things on the site. This is a flash site, after all, it's not a music site. Which is the main reason why everything about the audio portal is limited compared to the flash portal.

When you tell the audio mods to "purge the audio portal of stolen songs" it's like telling a desk clerk at a police station to single handedly take down organized crime.

It's just like how the BBS mods don't have all of the tools they could have to properly take care of certain situations, also why the chat is still not up. The flash portal is pretty much the only thing that gets attention, since, in comparison, every other system on the site gets hardly any traffic.

This is a flash website, the audio portal is just there to supplement the flash portal. We don't get experience for posting or reviewing.

Refusing to give users xp for voting on audio isn't the administration saying, "THIS IS NOT A REAL FORM, ONLY FLASH IS!", instead it's just preventing unwanted attention to the audio portal. I'm happy the same people who put Egoraptor's flashes into the top 50 aren't active in the audio portal personally.

With unwanted attention he probably means people (statwhores) that don't really care what or how they are voting. Which would make things just even worse.

That is different than saying that Audio isn't an artform which would need attention at all.
