Disable your internet connection and reenable it, if your ISP is a large one then it will give you a random IP address. It'll be similar, but the last 2 numbers (255.255.???.???) will probably be different. Either way theres no point in it, if you're scared of getting caught for something then the police can ask your ISP who was using the IP address at whatever time and bang they give your details. It's the law :p

Use a proxy. It won't permanently change your IP address, but it can be very useful for visiting websites safely.

Yeah, the mods probably can see your IP and it's not hard to resolve the hostname and country of origin.

You cannot be traced via your IP address, the most they can find out is the location of your local Exchange.

It changes automatically. It all depends on why you want to change it.

All I know is go in command prompt and type in "ipconfig".

For a easier solution, I would try proxies.

Also, Google can help.

you people are a bunch of idiots

your IP is completely subjective to your computer, meaning it's completely irrelevant to the IP that is sent out to other computers (which, as suggested before, only happens depending on your connection)

IPs are usually DHCP (as in your computer is assigned a new one whenever your computer is restarted)

but the one assigned by your ISP is COMPLETELY static

there is a difference between your INTERNAL IP (the one you see, ie 192...)

and your EXTERNAL (ie, 992...)

your subnet mask (255.255...) IS NOT YOUR IP

thats the truth... although depending on what kind of virus protection program you have you could have one or two other ip adresses to take out a hacker or something.

What ip address do you have?

Hey, just a word to the wise here. Check out the date of the original post and also the most recent post before bumping threads. This thread is old and dead and didn't need to be bumped. Just a heads up man.
