Yeah, I could probably be somewhere in the top 50, but I'm not for many long reasons I'm not gonna bore people with.

Why? Ex points aren't really that useful.

Ok, I feel really n00bish for asking this... how the hell do we find out our ID numbers?

you're 27378.

You click (and hold) on a profile link. Instead of "view blahblah's profile", the status bar at the bottom of the browser window will instead show "OpenProfileWin(xxxxxx);" where xxxxxx is the person's ID #.

alternatively, open your profile, then right click and hit properties. The URL shows the ID#. Or open your profile in a full sized window with URL bar. The URL, again, shows the ID#.

those 12/15/99s sure are nice.
Yup. Mine's 4/21/00... I'm a tiny bit envyous.

2/18/00. eh.

Unfortunately for me I went to NG like every 2 months back then, and no times in between. If I get jealous of anything, it's of the people who deposited every day since they signed up. If I had, I'd be in the top 5 exp. Ah well.
Yeah, I could probably be somewhere in the top 50, but I'm not for many long reasons I'm not gonna bore people with.

Between you, me, and Pantomime, there certainly are a lot of first-5-months-of-NG-accounts in this thread with low exp numbers. It makes me feel better about my own lack of exp depositing diligence prior to 2003.

And Pantomime? Exp might not mean anything really, but it does have its use: higher VP. If you care about such a thing. If you don't... then it's only use is getting you to higher level #s and prettier level icons. whatever rocks your boat.

Wow, you make me feel like a big intenet n00b, the first time that I can ever remember surfing the net was in 2001(also the year that I discovered this site), I knew of the internet before but had no idea what it was actually about.

The net was a lot better back then.

Nahh, of course not.

I have unfinished business & commitments right now but there's still 360 days.

Even when we aren't doing a damn thing with ourselves we still always have some unfinished business to attend to, so forget about trying to get it all done in the next 360 days and just aim to have it wrapped up within the next 50 years.

ok i got this idea..frist run around in your house and fall and hit your head. Then! o yes then. Get an idea for a time machine and make one. After its made go back and time and live in 1999 and not worry about 2003. If i had a time machine i would go back to 5 seconds ago and not give you advice.

Being banned is a wake up call to socialisation, it's a bad thing

Isn't this socialisation?

I think the word you mean is a "life."

Well for one the internet wasn't saturated with ads and stupid 13 year old dickheads.

Chat rooms had a novelty...

... and Geocities was actually good.

The main thing I miss about how the BBS used to be was actual intellegent conversations about the topic at hand. There is still some in the Politics board, but my debate skills aren't the best, and I don't feel like being pwned.

Hehe, thats funny man. I always seem to have it in my head that most(not all)of the MODS can't be pwned because they have some sort of immunity to it. I went on Anarchy's weird site yesterday and saw a screenshot of what I assumed was one of his ban messages, let me see if this works, it was so funny, I couldn't stop laughing .

Excuse the pic if its too shitty, I suck ass at photoshop.

I've been coming to NG since 1997 when I first got the internet.

1997, eh? I first got online in 1994, but that was just Prodigy. 1995 I got my first actual net account at college, though I'd already been on the web a few times that first year.

anyway... eh... I've been away for 3 days (grandfather died), but I might as well reply since the topic didn't die THAT long ago:

I wasn't trying to lord it over you that I had a 4 digit ID, vibes. I was just responding to this:

I came to the conclusion that the new mods are jealous of our early sign up dates... and decided to take the easy way out by banning us.

I'm going to get banned for this.

I figured you were joking, but I just wanted to clear up the assertion that all the new mods (which I took to mean the 4 from June, and the 3 from October) have recent signup dates, that's all.

And compared to 9/15/01 (you did bring up sign-up dates, I wasn't saying you hadn't been on NG before that date... I'd been to NG several times before I signed up, I think most of us have)... my signup date isn't recent. that's all. Oh, and that you were saying "our early signup dates" when you and Pantomime joined about 2 years apart.

Just being anal, in other words, about time discrepancies.

anywho.
