Oh, might I suggest you put a list of the BBS mods on the main forum page, under the names as well. Seems a little pointless they aren't there.

Fuck it all, you bastards.

I'm not sure if this has been suggested, but allow bold, italic, underlined, and linked text in Authors Comments in the Portal. It would be easier on the eye, and I would have thought that it would be fairly easy to implement.

Favoriting an artist should be like subscribing to a YouTube channel and a blog. When the artist submits a flash or audio or makes a news post, you should get an update. Maybe you could have a folder in the Inbox specifically for such updates.

Well, I don't know how that works at youtube, but for the past ... I dunno, maybe 3 or 4 years (when Youtube was just starting out), you would have gotten an e-mail when your fav artists had submitted something new, if you're set to receive general updates..

Sending PMs is different, I know, but it's not the first time it's been suggested - I believe it's been touched on in this thread, which you were supposed to have read before posting. ;)

A good idea for the Personal Message system; you would be able to read the PM's you've sent to other users. Especially if you've wanted to read it over a second time, just in case you forgot to the last time, or the user doesn't send it back as an "Re:". Wasting all that typing, and never getting it back.

A preview button for posts you make in PMs or on the BBS would be nice. If you're going to post on the BBS, you can preview it just before confirmation. That is, if you truly want to.

(All of these suggestions are for the Audio Portal)

1st: Fixing the Audio Portal batting average score, everyone is 4.19 (A+)

2nd: Fixing or even uploading the page where it shows more of the latest/top audio submissions. There is just a link to this: " www.newgrounds.com/audio/# "

3rd: Maybe having an age option on the Audio Portal (see pic) so when the age and genre are picked the bot will automatically put the highest scoring at the top, (like when an audio track is searched.) And having the age showing on each artist (see pic again XD)
thanks for taking the time to read this, if you did! XD

A have a few ideas listed:

A sports section to the Forum- I know that there isn't much of us here that take that much of a general interest in watching sport, but this could possibly attract some sports discussion

Move the VideoGames section up higher- It is alot harder for people to ecknowledge this section when it is at the bottom of the page I think it will be better suited up higher like under the general section

Bring back in deph reviewing- I may have only signed up recently but I have been viewing Flash on NG for a fair time before I signed up and I remember how it had things like Humour, Interactivity, Violence, etc. This helped me get a even better idea of what I was going to watch or play.

Thanks for the sig Maximus//Wylo's Medal Guide//The House MD Crew

My suggestion:

K when you go to "Edit your Audio Submissions"
it shows "Listens", "Votes", and "Favs" but like
i think it should also show downloads. I don't know
bout the rest of NG but i like to know the downloads
more then listens cause it actually shows how many
people have it on their computer rather then how
many people happened to be linked to your song.

--------------------------------
Another suggestion:

It would be cool if it showed how many new
people added you to their favourite artist list
in that week or the last 2 days or whatever.

Also if you could see who recently added you
cause that could be helpful if you want to thank
people or something =).

-----------------------------------
Another suggestion:

If at the top of the "Edit Audio Submissions"
when you go in if it could have a "Total listens"
"Total Downloads" and "Total song favs".

That would be awesome =D.
---------------------------------

Please at least do my first one thats something i
really want =).

Vote Spread for when a Flash has passed, information showing how many of what votes where casts on the flash. This could give the author more of an idea of how many people actually like it because reviews on many flash are rare at times.

SENT FOLDERS, SENT/REPLIED/UNREAD STATUS ADDITION TO PERSONAL MESSAGES

I've been pondering on the subject and idea for quite sometime now. I think it's about time for the Personal Messaging System to be updated a bit. I personally believe a little column should be added, which will indicate if a message was read or not.

In the regular inbox section, where you get your mail and check it should have a status column that will read the following:

UNREAD - If you haven't read the message yet.
READ - If you HAVE read the message, but didn't reply.
REPLIED - If you replied to the message that you received.

And than there should be a SENT folder section, which will have the content in which you SENT to other users, so you can view what you said in the past, and keep note on if you messed up and what not. This section should read the following:

SENT - If you sent a message, and you received no response, nor did the user read the message.
READ - If you sent a message, and the user did not respond but only have READ the Personal Message.
REPLIED - If the user has replied to the message you have sent.

----------
Personally, I believe this will be more user friendly and help others out making the PM system more advanced and maybe have more knowledge on if your PMs to people have been received or not. I am aware this may cause more little n00bs to send messages to people, and if they see it reading "READ" with no response, they may mass-spam email some famous users and what not, but I don't quite think this should be a problem since there is a block list form, as well as I think another thing should be added:

"Do not PM me" Box. This box should be enabled if you check mark the box in the account settings under maybe Personal Message settings, (should be added), and this should leave all users UNABLE to contact that person through Personal Messages, and to notify users if you're using this feature, one whom tries to send a PM to a user with this enabled, a box should appear stating "This user does not wish to receive PM's" or so forth. Just a thought.

There also should be a drop down menu organizer at the top reading "LIST BY UNREAD, LIST BY READ, LIST BY REPLIED" etc. That'll be a good one as well.

And last but not least, Along the lines of the PM system -- New PMs should have a RED Exclamation point next to it, clarifying that the message is new and unread. Even though the status column will say "UNREAD", it'll still attract attention to the Unread messages.

These are just all thoughts going around in my mind to advance our PM system here over at Newgrounds. I'd pitch in some help with coding or ideas if necessary -- I just hope maybe the Admins take a look into the idea, because it seems to be pretty neat.

So tell me what you guy think of the idea :)

Sorry for ugly composed JPEG image, I used MS Paint since I'm too lazy to open photoshop at the moment.

Let's implement a NG cash system.
If a user submits a Flash: +$5
If a Flash is blammed: the author gets -$5, blammers get +$2, protectors get -$2
If a Flash is protected: the author gets +$3, blammers get -$2, protectors get +$2
If a Flash author has a Flash that's featured: +$15
If someone votes on a Flash/Audio submission: +$12
Every user starts out with $100 dollars.
This system can be used to replace the level system using protect/blam points. If the user has lower than $25, the user must vote (use a warning message). If they have $5 or lower, they can only vote.

Save Firefox and free software!

Automated messages for responses in the BBS.

Say if you're getting sick of always having to check a thread you posted in to see if someone replied to what you wrote. With this system, an automated message could be sent to your PM inbox, telling you someone replied, but only if you want it to. I mean this is probably obvious, but if you get annoyed by always getting messages in your inbox, you don't have to keep it that way. I think this system would be vital for anyone who posts, like, +15 times a day. (Whoever has that kind of life, but there are people who do.)

What would be a nice addition is a return to the comment after you vote on a flash Under Judgement that says 'If this flash is deleted you'll get a blam point or If this flash is protected you'll gain a protection'.
I think it would help diminish the 'how do I gain B/P?' topics on the Wi/Ht as it would help avoid confusion on what to do.
Also, the FAB aura darker would be a lot better, as at the moment it feels too clear.

Wellllll I was looking for my favorite sniping games like sift heads/police sniper...etc. when i realized that having them all in one spot would be a huge relief. Hence, being the obnoxious self-centered jerk i am, I have decided that Newgrounds must make a collection...for my saek. A collection titled...Sniping. Its such a simple idea, that i have no idea why no one at the NG office has thought of it before. I'd REALLY like to see this collection among your many other great ideas so please comment on this thread if you would like to see it happen =D buh bye

When you go to audio favorites and have none yet, it says:

You don't have any favorite audio yet. Go find some!

"Go find some" is a link that leads to the NG flash portal..just taking a wild guess here, is it meant to link to the NG audio portal? ^-^

The ability to have a audio playlist player on your userpage, of your favorite submissions or your own work. Kind of like project playlist, but for the audio portal.

*phew* I just finished looking through this entire thread to make sure my suggestions haven't been done before.

First off, the audio portal should be upgraded. Right now it seems to just be there...I understand this is a flash-based site but if you're going to have an AP it should be tended to as well.

Here are my AP suggestions:
-Scrap the approval process, it irritates new users. Instead, implement the judgement/blam system as with the flash.
-More featured audio. Right now there's like 5, that's really not much. More featured audio would encourage more (and better) submissions.
-I second/third getting exp for voting on audio. It would encourage more users to vote on audio and right now it's kind of pointless to have a voting weight system in effect with audio, which is based on how much you've voted on flash.

General suggestions:
-An icon denoting a user's rank--that is, forum moderator, audio moderator, administrator, etc. I'm new to the BBS and I'm having a hard time discerning who's who.

Actually, I guess that's it for now. =)

Support a local composer. All you need to contribute is $10.00 per hour, for sixty years.
Or, you could just visit a profile page and rate/review stuff. Hint-ety hint hint.

Sorry for double posting, but I actually did think of another suggestion. If the audio approval process isn't scrapped for some reason, at least provide a number that says how many artists are currently in the queue, or what number in line your song is. It would reduce complaining about "the page says 1-2 days!"

The thing that I think frustrates people (me, at least lol) with this approval process is not having any idea what's going on. People don't need to be updated every step of the way, but at least having some idea would help people not feel forgotten or skipped over.

1. A way to favorite forum topics, just incase you can't find it.
2. Deleting all accounts that are just there so other users that actually contribute to the site can't have them.
For example
This one
this one
and lastly this one

3. other ways to get exp. points
for example:
50 combined blam and protects= 10 exp per day
10 reviews= 10 exp per day

I never thought I would suggest this, but perhaps a little extra room on reviews? I just ran out of character for a review that I was writing and I had to cut out several parts just to get it to fit. :/ I still cut out a lot and I still had a couple of sentences to go. Perhaps another 200 to 300 characters would help out a little bit? I rarely write reviews like that, but now and then there is just stuff to keep talking about on the flash.

I'm sure someone else has mentioned it, but I really don't want to wade through 7 pages to find out.

I would absolutely love a feature similar to the numbers displayed next to inbox when you have a pm, but for user page comments. I'm not so much speaking about your own page, although that too would be beneficial, but I want a notification if someone replies to your message on their page. I honestly can never remember the usernames that I posted in, and I'd love to know if they ever responded.

How about it?

Alright this is gonna be long, and its just gonna concern the audio portal:

#1: Ive noticed a lot of people commenting on an audio playeron your user page - thats rather self centered imo. we have a perfectly good audio player based on new submissions, popular artists, and oldie goldies rotting away at the top of the page in the ng mag, and it's broken - I say you revamp its look so it matches the rest of newgrounds - and stick it in the bottom aroea that says "some account type thingie here" - that way everyone can always listen to music from the audio portal when they want to listen to it the most: when they are in the forums.

#2: Let me delete my old songs damnit - and don't give me the excuse that if its been used in a flash it can't be deleted - the removal of all of dreamscaper's songs, as well as kingbastard's songs in the past has proven that deletion of music used in flashes IS possible, just not by us.

#3: have picture icons for all the mods - not just the ones employed by newgrounds. And maybe even for users who have shown great prominance over the years. I am sure stamper and Johnny Utah are prolly bored of not making anything new like that these days :P

4: fix the damn bug where if you write a really long review/response and then press submit it takes the last paragraph and sticks it way at the top of the page - its annoying, and weird, and I still get it, no matter what computer/browser I use.

5: Not to brag, but I've got pages and pages of fans who like my music, just cuz well, ive been here forever and I got a shitload of songs haha. I had the great idea that in order to get attention I was going to pm every single one of them telling them I had a new song - it took me about a week! Why can't we fwd things to all the people in our faves list? I can understand not being able to get a notification thats auto generated from your favourite authors- but we should be able to mass-email our OWN messages to our fans!

6: there are days when I realyl can't check my reviewsdaily - or even every couple of days - and I have a lot of songs to check! About 280 after deleting a shitload when the redesign came out.. after a couple of days a lot of them just say "0 reviews" when they still have reviews. It gets frustrating - it takes me about 3 hours to check every single song and see if it has new reviews and respond to them.

7: bring back the "blow my whistle baby" flag button! There is a lot of stolen content in the audio portal, and it really needs to be flagged!

8: implement the damn chat room that you've been promising since the redesign! I talked to psychogoldfish quite a while ago and he said hes been done it for quite a while, and he's just waiting for someone to implement it - whats the hold up?

9: make more audio mods - and make one for EACH genre - each person appropriately matched to their genre - and THEN - take the new users list, which is always long, and which they always complain just doesnt go down fast enough, and split it up by genre, and assign each to their respective genre audio mod. Not only will this clear up a HUGE list, but it will make sure the right mod governs the right area, and that they are listening to new users submitting to a genre they know best, and not just "assuming" that the song is passable. This would also crack down on the stolen submissions that leak through - a person in Trance would be more likely to know if someone is submitting a rob mayth, ben sage or teisto ripoff than someone in say, heavy metal.

10: every year, allow the users to vote for a new mod, and remove a mod that isn't doing their job. I am sick of seeing mods that don't, DO anything! I mean I was glad to see some dead weight cleared out this year, a few users were stripped of their gold icons, but I think it should happen every year. Someone shouldnt be allowed to become a mod and then just slack off or LEAVE THE SITE for 2 or 3 years as has happened in the past. If you are a mod, you have a job! Sure its voluntary, but if you don't want the responsibility, pm an admin and have your modhood removed! It's entirely possible, Rucklo did it as an example.

11: don't give audio mods the ability to remove other user's songs - thast is giving waaaay too much power into the wrong hands - power that should only be in the hands of hte users themselves, or admins. Instead, as said above, make it so that the user can delete ANY of their songs, and have the audio mods pm them telling them to remove said song, if that fails, give the audio mods the power to report the account to an admin, and in which case that admin would either delete the song (you never know, maybe the guy is on vacation or something) all their songs (if known persistance is encountered or if they refuse), or delete their account (for people who just plain don't follow the rules). Personally I think this is the safest way. If (heaven forbid) someone managed to lay their hands on an audio mods account, they could otherwise go on a deleting spree and that would NOT be pretty. Of course, if someone laid a hand on a regular user's account they could do the same, but only to that specified user, thus damage is less.

I do however think that if an audio mod encounters someone submitting stolen content - they should have the ability to freeze said users account - meaning they cannot upload any more songs until their punishment is dealt to them. This would prevent rampant abuse of the system.

thats all I can think of for now..

I'm such an audio FAG! Actually, I'm THE audio fag!

1. It can be really hard to keep track of new reviews in the audio portal.

Talking about the personal "audio submissions" pages:

It's hard to see when you have a new review, because it's the same color and same font as when you have no new reviews.
When you're scrolling through your submissions you have to go really slowly and strain to pick out the 1s and 2s that indicate new reviews.

Also, it can be tough to keep track of if whether a new review is still new or not. They stay up for 3 days or so, but unless you're paying really close attention you won't know if it's a truly new review, or if it's one you've already looked at.
So I guess this could be solved by, using the term "_ unread reviews".
And when you visit the page that your song is on it would reset to "0".
This would probably also apply to the flash portal.

What would be ideal is a summary at the top of your page that says the total number of unread reviews without having to scroll through your submissions at all.

2. Multi-authoring in the audio portal would be great, as there are a lot of collaborations and things like that going on.

Thanks!

Well I've always had this idea about collab threads. When someone makes a collab and it's going well, if a forum mod feels like it, he can make it from a regular thread into a special collab thread.

A Collab Thread is pretty much just like a normal thread except the first post can be edited by the author.

This can be used for:
- Making a list of the participants
- Posting a notice that the collab is full (So people don't ask if they want to join 4 weeks after the deadline)
ect. ect.

THERE IS NO MORE TO SAY.

My idea involves spam on the NG BBS.

The NG BBS runs by some problems with spam, and although the moderators do their job to take care of it, sometimes they aren't able to do everything. No one's perfect. That's why, I've come up with this idea. A new voting system where users can mark the topic as spam or a good topic. That way, users will know if it's safe to go ahead and reply, or just back off and let the mods take care of it. As well, users posting in a topic that is marked by the public as spam, will know that by posting in it, they may risk getting a ban. (This would also be helpful for me and other users, because I've been bitchslapped a few times for posting in a topic that was received as spam, but that I thought was safe to post in.)

Of course, this feature could get out of control, but it could be regulated so that the only people with a certain amount of posts, an account that is more than a few months old, and/or certain level number can mark it as spam or safe. This rating would be represented like a speedometer, with the needle down to 0 if it's spam, or the needle all the way up if it's safe to post in. Then again, it's the NG BBS, so something more simple would be needed, because something round and with a needle would take up some space on the topic listing.

Users who repeatedly abuse this feature and mark safe threads as spam or spam threads as safe will, of course, no longer have privileges to use the new voting feature, or their influence upon the proposed meter will be weakened (like the portal whistle). The voting process would need to remind the user that it isn't the quality of the thread you are rating, you are only saying whether it is spam or not.

This feature could also be a big help to mods, for if a thread is getting spam votes, mods can pinpoint problems easier and lock or delete threads faster and be more efficient (than they already are, a little brown-nosing :P). The"Spam Meter" I'm imposing could also judge whether the original post of the topic is violating any other rules as well (flaming, hatred, racism, or just plain idiocy, etc).

It would be basically like the portal whistle, however, this one would be a bit more complex and meant for the BBS.

When thinking about this feature, this pros outweighs the cons. But there is one big con: the BBS may have to be taken down for for such a thing. Probably just for a short while (a few hours), but this could really help in the long haul.

I hope my idea helps influence a better community.

ok, i know i gotta check the other posts and to be honest: i didn't check ALL of them because there are way too many of them.
i have many suggestions but i can't remember them all. here are two:

- how about marking review's responses as helpful, useless or abusive? i mean sometimes the author gives a spammy response or talks abusive stuff....

- talking about the responses: how about responding to a response? sometimes it's necessary to say something else after the author responded...

This is a petition for a addition of a "last login" feature in the account section. This is just speaking from my experience but I have messaged users before hoping for a reply and none came, I think that with a "last login" feature it can prevent messages and false hopes that need not be created.

Have an option to save shipping and billing address information for the NG Store so that we don't have to re-enter it all the time.

I'd like to be able to access my BBS posts from the "My Account" page, rather than having to go through my userpage to get to them. This way I can more readily access the topics I post in regularly.

And a throwback to page 7: I have also noticed the link to "go find" favorite audio leads to the Flash Portal instead of the AP. For the sake of making Newgrounds work, this needs to be fixed, if it hasn't been done already.
