Outbox and Draft PM folders.

See all the topics made by yourself.

Something that keeps track on whose blogs you have commented on, I have a hard time remembering where I have commented.

Also, I think it would be neat if the moderators could record their own voice message.

I hear that this is being considered to play when someone recieves their ban message. What if instead, it became EyeLovePoozy's personal ban message, and all the other moderators have the chance to play their own message?

I did a little research and so far as I can tell YoinK has the most voting power of registered users. He's got a whole 14.64 votes when his blam/save experience is combined with his level. This is kind of discouraging because he had to watch at least 130 times as many flash as I have to get not even 3 times as much voting power.

It would seem the more work voting a user puts into NewGrounds its worth decreases exponentially. Why is this the case? I know you don't want to give people so much power that they can single-handedly blam or save a submission, but it seems this is hardly fair to the veteran users to give them such little power. I don't really have any good suggestions, but I think the voting power distribution system could use some kind of overhaul. What kinds of side perks come with having that much experience supposing they never become mods? Maybe other users could make suggestions how this could be addressed or how I'm not privy to secrets that void my concerns of the "inner circles" of NG.

I think the batting average would be good on profile pages under the voting power.

How about (finally) creating a help/faq section in other languages? Hell, I'd more than willing to translate in portuguese for you, since it wouldn't take me more than say, an hour.

Reasonable, I'd imagine. User that don't speak english too well might appreciate and, in fact, it might very well help expand the NG user base! After all, there's no reason to believe that people who don't speak english can't appreciate a great deal of the site.

Yes, obviously.

Nope.

--- d. Include your reasoning in your post.

Done.

Oh, and it should be quite easy and cheap to implement too. After all, there are bound to be plenty of users willing to translate and verify the translations.

A voting log would be nice, something to display who voted on what and how.

That, and/or a voting disposition average on a users profile. It could, for instance, be the mean average score of how you vote on things, to determine if someone is a high, low, or average voter.

How about a detailed search engine, such as:

- being able to sort by Name, Author, Title, Date, Game/Movie, Score, Votes, Views, etc.
- browse by Genre
- keywords

I think there should be some sort of tracking system in place for spammers. For instance, a user who posts at least one submission every day for 7 days straight is put on a secret "watch." Their submissions would be evaluated by a mod (could be a user-mod system) and then it will be determined whether or not they were spam.

Something like that would clean up the portal a hell of a lot, as the amount of spam coming through and passing judgment is legendary these days.

I would like to see Newgrounds collecting users opinions on various subjects again in the form of re-introducing NG front page polls.

I suggest that there is a seperate section of the website on the content bar in between forums and store for General News.

A flash submit limit, for example, only 4 flash per day.

I just thought of this idea where you should be able to review items from the store. Buyers would be able to know more about the product and how much others like it. I think it could work very well and the products could also be rated.

It don't think there should be a review count for the products though. It would be pointless. It would just be for other user's benefit and it wouldn't matter about how many reviews you have.

Also, you would have to have already bought the product to be able to review it. I'm sure you guys could make this work.

I think you should take this idea into consideration.

It would be great if there was a way that userpage spammers could be banned from all userpages for a certain amount of time.

For example, if someone was banned from 20 pages within two days, they would be banned from all userpages for a certain amount of time. While there is a individual userpage ban section, it can be time consuming to delete and ban all spammers from your page. It would be nice if the hassle was completely averted by having auto-bans.

I don't think it would be a problem of genuine posters getting banned from userpages unless there was a specific group targeting people. Even so, the person targeted does not lose a necessary feature.

Or it could become a mod task similar to the review system where a certain amount of flags yields a note to the mod.

Had another thought...

How about an option to arrange our favorites randomly on our main userpage. This way, if we choose, we can help some of the submission we like, but not in our top four get some light. I don't know about anyone else, but I rarely click to see all of a user's favorites. The top four on their userpage is as far as I'll go.

They could still appear in a order for the list, but just on the userpage have them randomized, if the user wants.

I don't review things frequently so I haven't noticed this before.

When you review a flash, you have to check a little box which says "I have read and understood the guidelines for posting reviews to Newgrounds.". However when you review an audio submission this doesn't appears.

So my suggestion is the following, the box which says "I have read and understood the guidelines for posting reviews to Newgrounds." should appear when reviewing audio.

I know it's not very important and it's not a big change, but when someone checks that little box, he's agrees with the review rules, and therefore the review is completely his responsibility. I think that at least, there should be a link to the review guidelines so the reviewer can read them.

As I said it's nothing too important or interesting but I think this should be done, anyway the decision is yours.

Cheers :)

I was thinking that it would be cool if we held a Newgrounds Lifetime Achievement Award every five or so years. It could start at 5:00, and the entire newgrounds page would turn into an entire screen engulfing the entire page. Everyone that has an acount in newgrounds can vote on one of the ten or so nominees before the ceremony would be held. The ceremony will be animated by the way. Then, Tom Fulp, or some other guest, would present the Lifetime Achievement award based on Exp. Points, Awards, contributuion to newgrounds, ect. There would be ten nominees. They would animate the winner receiving the award, and maybe some cash prize attached. Then at 5:30, the newgrounds page would be turned back to normal. I know it is a huge idea, but you would have five years to work on it!

I am not sure if this has been posted yet, but I'll go for it anyway.

I think that the rich contect links should include the score of the submission. That would help users determine at a glance whether they want to watch the submission or not. This would be especially useful if someone posts a number of links in one post. Other users may not have the time to view all of the links, so if it showed the score of the flash it would make it much easier for users to pick which submissions they want to view. This situation has already occurred in the Treasure Hunt posts and one post of mine.

I am not sure how hard it would be to change the rich content linking, but I think that it would prove useful for NG regulars. It is not the most important or most urgently needed update, but I think it would be a good update to include in a site overhaul.

What i think would be a good idea would be that when playing a game/movie next the the "X" on the lightbox should be a minimise sign so that it would hide the lightbox while the user is waiting for a game to load, and could be reading up on reviews.

The user could then restore the lightbox by pressing a button, and the game resumes.

This is a better idea i think because i opened this game; it was going to take ages to load, so i closed it to see if it was worth playing by reading reviews, when i saw people had reccomended it, i opened it again and it began to load from scratch. I realised i had wasted some loading time, and although this seems kind of trivial, i think that this feature would be worth the time it takes to put in place, but then maybe i'm wrong.

Thanks :D
Olii

Down to earth ideas:

1. The ability to report rule-violating songs in the AP. Now, if you leave a review saying it's stolen, then that review gets deleted for being abusive. There's really no way to demonstrate that a submission is stolen.

2. More tools for audio mods, such as edit, delete, ban, un-ban, watch-list, etc.

3. The ability to report advertisements which cause browser-crashes and/or extreme slowdowns.

4. The ability to state WHY you are marking a review/advertisement as abusive, in some sort of text box.

5. Auto AP icon submission, so that all of your tracks automatically have the chosen icon.

6. Removal of complete track capitalization when viewing songs on artists' userpages.

7. Increase in characters viewable when viewing songs on artists' userpages. I've seen track titles get cut off because less characters can be seen than the number that are allowed in the titles.

8. Ability to report abusive review responses.

9. Mouse-over thumbnails for audio submissions, like in the FP.

10. Actual USAGE of the Great/Awesome score system. May require some tweaking of numbers,

11. Improved AP search.

Crazy ideas:

1. Blamming in the AP. I know it sounds elitist, but there IS a LOT of terrible music in the AP...

2. Ability to have a sponsorship/commercial licensing system in the AP, as they do in the FP, allowing tracks to be commercially licensed to be used in flash videos or the like. However, this would require something other than the creative commons license to be probable.

3. Ability to edit songs after 3,000 listens/usage, like with flash videos, but not delete.

4. Ability to create custom userpage themes, with standardized dimensions.

5. Ability to add custom links to "other favorites."

New Song on XD: James Brown Is Dead (X Bootleg). Check it!

The thread I made that got locked after someone indicated to post here:
"I think it would be cool to be able to comment a submission after reviewing it without affecting the average score. You might want to give suggestions, ask a question, post a walkthrough, answer a reviewer's question, warn about malicious content."

Hi,

I have a suggestion.
The situation now is that when you vote on a Flash submission, you get expierence points.
But if you vote on an Audio Portal submission, you get nothing.
My suggestion is to create 2 types of experience points. Experience points for Flash and experience points for Audio.
I think this should happen, because experience points are given for the amount of expierence you have.
If you have a huge amount of expierence points by voting on flash submissions your vote counts idk how many times. This is good, but when you have experience by voting on Flash submissions, doesn't mean that you have experience in voting on Audio submissions too, but if you vote on Audio your Flash experience counts in your vote.
I hope you understand what i mean

Any edited Flash that is in judgment or passed judgment should go though judgment again. We can boot off those people which submit something good, let it pass judgment, then change it to something off-topic of the Flash.

How about you guys add the option to set our profiles to private?

I've heard some sites do that, and I think this site could use that feature too!

I'm not saying anything bad about this site, I'm just saying I heard about it in computer lab, and
I think it would make our profiles alot safer! ESPECIALLY for some people (not me but someone i've chatted with) who get alot of sexual comments.

I skimmed over the thread, and I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but I'm sorry if it has.

How about the option to sort our reviews by rating? I know it's only a minor thing, but it would be rather useful to see which of our reviews are rated lowest and highest without having to trawl through each page one by one.

Even something like more buttons where the "Newer" and "Older" ones on the review page are that say "Higher" and "Lower" would do.

I read a few reviews where users mention that "[they] watched it on YouTube because it took too long to load here". I'm not a programmer or an artist, so I don't know if you can, but is it possible to stream flash? I'm sure some of our bandwidth impaired users would appreciate this feature, as would impatient users (read: the Newgrounds audience).

Obviously it'll be tricky with flash ads involved and the likes. Perhaps it's possible to implement a "no skip" zone when you show an ad or something.

You gotta keep up with the big boys, Tom.

There should be a way to flag abusive responses. I have been seeing a lot of them around recently and it's getting very depressing. So that might be very useful.

It's certainly possible, but unfortunately this is really up to the Flash creator to make his preloader smart enough to start playing after enough of the movie as buffered. Most preloaders (even our NG ones!) just wait for 100% loading to play.

I could tweak the NG preloaders to allow the "play" button to appear sooner, but you'll still have the play button there. The play button is nice because people flip to a different window or make a sandwich while a Flash is loading, and they don't want to miss the Flash because it started playing while they were gone. YouTube doesn't have this problem, because they have a nice little rewind button. :)

On that tangent, I did a lot of research into making a universal rewind button, pause button, and playhead position bar for Flash movies. It would appear above Flash submissions on the portal view page. I think this would be totally awesome and useful -- but Flash just isn't technically able of doing it at this point! doh!
