I actually think that shutting down the Portal for a few days would be a good idea. Then a lot of pissed off people who can't get their blam and save points and people who can't submit their flash will all go to the list and start voting on the entries so they can get it back. Would be very sly, if you ask me.

Response to Help vote! 2003-11-28 20:01:20

the problem is, while we (the users) are voting on these submissions, other ones are being sitted out of the others asses ever second and the last time i checked, newgrounds had over 400 000 users, times that by 2 and you'll know what i mean. the point is that the submissions will just keep on pilling up and since we (the users) can only vote once per day, that list is going to be there for a LONG time

u guys r rite, we shud jus turn off the portal for a few days that way we can vote on the 480'000 movies wivout getting 1000s of new 1s everyday

how many av we got left now Wade?

Response to Help vote! 2003-12-01 15:52:23

Or they should make it so that you'll only get XP for voting on flash submissions with votes within the 100-200 range... that'd get people to start voting on these...

Response to Help vote! 2003-12-01 20:15:34

I'm brand new here and I'll try to help you to decrease that list.
I tried to look through the thread and I agree that it is not so easy to discover at first glance that there is such a list needing votes. Maybe you should add a button to go directly to this list or something more obvious than the link in this thread.
Second thing (sorry if it has already been explained somewhere else), I don't understand why there are so, many movies with marks just above 1 that are still in this list. I think that the limit for a new movie to be accepted is 2, no ? Isn't it possible to delete all the movies that don't have this 2 limit ?

OK, I'll go back to my votes. Allready a couple of hundreds done. I hope it will help you and that I will learn by the same time a few things about flash.

Okay I've been clicking on these stupid movies...and many of them ARE stupid. It goes against everything I believe to do so...I swear to god I don't know how half of these movies got out of the Under Judgement phase. How I wish this thing was over and done with so I could go back to finding QUALITY submissions. There. I've said it. I feel better.

Response to Help vote! 2003-12-02 10:49:32

I tried to search for some answers on the forum and the FAQ but couldn't find it.
While voting for all these movies, I found some that were below 1.5. After extending the search to all movies, I even found that some movies are below 0.5. Why didn't they were deleted ? I don't think that anybody like them, excepted their creator and I'm even not sure of that. Can anybody answer to this question while I go on voting ?

*Already 200 done today, that's getting pretty boring*

However i don't intend to do this because voting is soo much fun and I like voting for 5. Also this brings up an important issue. I have noticed that sum people they just vote and deposit their exp 4 the day withouut even watching any movie! Or not leaving a reply. I think u Wade or Tom should do sumthing about this like u cant pass level 10 if u dont have 1000 reviews or sumthing i dont know. Unlike me every single time I vote I leave a review :)

I never vote unless I wath the whole movie. But I can't leave a review to every movie I watch because I tend to repeat myself or just to babble by the fact I have nothing to say constuctive. I will write a review either if I really liked a flash orhave some constuctive things to say. Hmph.. look at that.. I can't explain something without repeting myself. Oh well.

This woud help so much because alot of entries that suck, get through judgement.

I made some calculations to see how fast the number of votes needed was decreasing.
I wrote the number of movies and votes needed on tuesday night and wednesday night before going to sleep.
Tuesday : 11023 movies, 415257 votes
Wednesday : 10978 movies, 411551 votes

So, in about 24 hours, the number of votes decreased of only 4000. Which means that, at this speed, it will take more than 3 months to get rid of this list...
I really wonder how many people vote in that list.

I noticed this morning that this topic disappeared from the home page. So it's more difficult for people to get to the less than 200 page...
Maybe a link could be added or another message on the homepage to remind to everybody that votes are still needed.

Response to Help vote! 2003-12-11 15:02:08

I agree. I didn't even really notice the whole secrets section right away, but when I first joined NG (not too long ago) I immediately noticed the main page link to help vote, and that is why I registered to begin with. So a more permanent link to all users on the main page might help the effort.

Response to Help vote! 2003-12-15 05:44:08

I just discovered the link in the secrets a few days ago. Before, I had to come back on this thread in the forum to go back to this votes needed page. I'm sure that with a little more help, they would disappear pretty quickly. Personnaly, I'm a bit tired to see that I'm one of the only one to try to delete this list and I have slowed down a bit since a few days.

But...I think everyone's votes counted TOGETHER struggles to make 10,000+, never mind just your ones....I suppose it is possible, so you might be telling the truth.

I am telling the truth. When this whole process started, in early September... as I've said a couple times before, perhaps even in this thread, I don't remember now...

we needed around 650,000 votes to clear about 15,000 movies out of the 100-200 vote region.

Now... we need about half as many votes. So your 10,000 vote estimate on everyone's votes together is wayyyyy underestimated. More like 300,000 votes by everyone, all told.

God knows how many I've done....1500, maybe.

That's better than most, certainly. But I know of one person in particular who votes on about 4000 every couple days. He's probably cast at least 30,000 votes or more in the past month, I'd guess.

see here for more details:

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic.php?id=85698&page=13

I'm startin to get worried that everyone is losin the effort n we might never get it done. The total was getting less n less by about 5000 each day but now it seems to be INCREASING by a couple hundred each day. C'mon people, keep going!

Hang on for just a moment and I'll illustrate that however many people we do have helping, we ARE getting it done.

I really wonder how many people vote in that list.

No one ever said it was going to take less than a few months, you know. I've been estimating by Easter for a few weeks now. But if you'll compare those figures (which are now from about 2 weeks ago) of yours with the current figures, you'll see that things are getting along just fine:

As of 12/17/2003 at 21:12, 10,539 entries remaining (345,634 votes required to clear the list).

sooo... while the number of entries isn't dropping that fast (it hasn't been ever since we went under 12,000)... you'll notice the number of votes needed have dropped by about 65,000 since 2 weeks ago.

That's major progress towards the end. Once we get the votes under 200,000 or so, it's going to speed up towards the end as people get excited about the end being near.

Don't give up.

Thanks to TheJoe324, we have done 100 000 in about 3 weeks. So, if we go on at the same speed, we can estimate that the whole list will be finished in about 10 weeks, so something like beginning of March I guess.

I usually try to clear all of the submissions in the lowest-vote group, then start voting up the ones between 180-199 up to one higher (Some times I go to 170, because in the 160's is where ther are the 3,000-6,000 of each) It's wierd because I realized that when I vote like that, I do more voting in 2-4 hours than about 90% of newgrounds users have EVER done. (With all of those ones that just signed up and left, there are probably thousands that haven't even voted once)

The point is... Don't lose your dinosaur.

I think you are not really posting in the good section. There is one called "flash" dedicated to this question. You should have a look there, and for the tutorials first.

Response to Help vote! 2004-01-03 07:11:22

I was wondering if the threshold for movies to stay on newgrounds had been raised to 175 because I don't see any movie in the list with less than 177 votes.
Am I right ?

Response to Help vote! 2004-01-04 07:27:47

Okay, just 9,476 movies left!
