Depends whether you are going to be playing games or using hardware supporting DX10.
That's not my point. Vista has DX10. XP has DX9. In comparing the two operating systems, it doesn't really depend on anything else. We might not be seeing a lot of DX10 yet, but from a technical standpoint, it's supposed to be technically superior. Hardcore gamers will most likely want it eventually if they don't now.

Vista is only bad because Microsoft managed to whore out XP for seven years; when you hang on to something like that for so long, support for it gets so strong that any kind of change is advised against. Compatibility errors all over, and all of that.
If getting Vista, I would recommend having a good computer with XP just in case you'd like to try some older games or programs and Vista shits on you.

XP man! but Microsoft are stoping the updates for XP in 2009.
Vista is shit. fucking eye candy graphics and uses up alot of resorces just from ideling.

I prefer Xp cuz it cover basic needs.
Vista is only looks.
Vista means "look" in Spanish.
XP comes from EXPERIENCE.

I've tried both, Vista looks a lot nicer than XP but i can't get vista do do half the stuff i was able to do on XP, Also i hear vista makes it nearly impossible to use limewire, so I would say XP
