I can now confirm the reasons as to why I was was almost unable to make it.

As some of you may be slightly aware from the last meet, I was once part of the British Armed Forces, and that my brother is a current serving member.

He's in Iraq at the moment and due to have his 2 weeks R&R leave.

I wasn't able to say anything concrete about it untill today due to the fact that:

1) The date hadn't been finalised

2) Unless the date had been finalised, for security reason's we (the family) aren't allowed to discuss his leave dates/name in public

3) I'm a publicly announced former service member, (through posts on websites like these and a one time newspaper article) so it'd be relatively easy to find me and either charge me, or send me a fine through the door for breaching the above condition. Besides, as a former service member I feel duty bound to keep the Queen and Country's secured information very much secured, no matter how mundane. Especially considering the line of work I was in.

Well, the date was briefly pencilled for him to come back on the 12th, then it became the 2nd of Feb, and then changed back to a bit earlier. Obviously, if my brother came back during the NG meet, I wasn't going to just head off to London and miss him. The time it takes to get to the UK from Iraq is mind boggling when you take into account the slow service the Joint Movements Service (The MOD's equivillant of Ryanair, lulz) provides, on top of the 24 hour flight time and jet lag considerations.

Therefore, the chances were if I did go, I'd miss the time he was actually home with the family and I'd get back in time to find out he's spending the rest of his week and a half at his girlfriend's. Thankfully, the date is now set for the 2nd, once again, the day after my birthday :)

I can still come to the meet up and still share mine and my brother's b-days (his is the 31st Jan, he's exactly 2 years younger than me).

In other news, I'll update that hub page of mine later today with more detailed instructions and what to do if the weather is shitty. I dont want people standing out there where we usually meet if its rainy/snowy. (Although it would be kinda cool if it was snowing)

Also, feel free to bring birthday presents for Lost-chances, myself, and jpi. We've decided to spend our birthdays with you fine folks and are usually very thirsty for beer.
