Well I am getting a new desktop, and I already know Macs are the best, but someone will come in this thread saying either Macs own or Macs suck, doesn't matter because I can't get a Mac. I was looking at a nice HP for about less than $350, it comes with 1 gb ram, Vista Home Premium, 250 gb HD, intel dual core 2.00 Ghz processor, and I have my own graphics card to use.
I don't need a top of the line computer either, no alienware, mac, crazy ass gaming computers, I mainly use youtube, NG games/forums/flash, flash games on other sites, small FPS games (Portal and Combat Arms).
I believe that a HP is good, but I have been disappointed with Dell lately. Any opinions.
1 rule: NOTHING ABOUT MACS!

Macs arn't nescisarrly best. They are simple, glitch free, and are good with media. Windows is more complicated but if you do programing, design or other more computer intensive stuff a PC is a good choice. I own one of each.
If it's good for me it's probally bad for everybody else...

My Dad's G5 fried it's sound card 3 weeks after he bought it. It also froze twice.

There is no such thing as "best brand of computers" in terms of how good the computer is. If you're talking about service, pricing, warranties, etc, then you can start comparing companies. However, computers are just a summation of parts (Or one big thing that might as well be welded shut if it's a Mac).
No one company is going to be the best company. Some offer great prices on low-end computers (Not Macs, though). Some are better with high-end computers (Not Macs, though). Some let you choose from a huge array of separate computer components, where others give you a very limited selection (Like Macs). Some companies will even fit computers with hard drives in a RAID configuration, fit it with third party cooling, or create an overclocked configuration for a small fee (Not with Macs, though).
There's also countless smaller and independently-run computer companies that give you a huge range of choices and different prices that you can compare with other companies to get the best deal (Unlike where you buy a Mac).
Of course, the best deal is always going to be building your own computer (Which you can't do with Macs). You are in complete control of which components go in your machine and do not have to pay an insane price for any of them (4gb of ram costs $400-$500 for Macs). There are countless guides on the internet that assist you with this process.

Thanks a ton Rage! Yeah, I could just upgrade my existing PC with a new motherboard, processor, ram, and hard drive. But! I would have to buy Vista, and it is fucking expensive. Any suggestions on preset computers? :D
Thanks for the try, it's in my thank you list.

If I were you I'd sign up for the TigerDirect newsletter and check out some of their offers. They have screaming deals on computers. I've seen a barebones kit that has more than twice the specs of the computer you mentioned for about $50 more.

People people please! I would like to just buy a computer. Much simpler, and I said no Alienware/Macs/Super Gaming Computers. I don't play any real games to need it. Just internet, making videos, flash games, and Portal.

What's the problem? My post was filled with a lot of viable advice. If the topic starter chooses to start his thread by stating "I already know Macs are the best", then I'm more than willing to pepper in a little bit of mac bashing in an otherwise helpful post.

Mine's a Toshiba and works very well. It's fast, reliable, lots of memory, and can run Halo 2 suprisingly well with shit graphics card and 1.8 GHz processor. $500 and last very long. My dad had his for 7 years now.
