Since clearly all you people send in your Xbox 360s when it gets the RROD, I'm going to tell you how to fix it.

You simply unplug everything from your Xbox, try moving it somewhere else where it gets good ventilation, straiten all your cords out, try to leave it off for a little while and then set it back up.
Make sure you plug the power cord in ALL THE WAY and it should be fine.

I hope this stops your pointless complaining.

What about when it actually is fucked and doing all the above doesn't work? I take bloody good care of my console but it still caught the rrod. It isn't always an off and on again problem.

It's the console with the bad ventilation. Putting it in a nice cool room just extends it's life. Playing it for a couple of hours or less everyday will keep it alive.

But what's the point of a console if you can't play on it a long time? You don't need to change how you live your life to suit a console. The Xbox 360 has the flaw not where you put it in your Feng Sui lifestyle. Until Microsoft figure out the proper way to cool it and it breaks down, then it'll be the consumers fault.

I remember seeing a video that will show you how to temporarily fix the red rings. Basically you wrap up your Xbox 360 in a bunch of towels and let it run for a couple of minutes. After it's been heated up, let it cool down. When you go to plug it back in, it should run perfectly fine.

Why should it matter? Having tried the towel trick myself with my old, (now dead) 360, I can safely assure that it will only fix it temporarily.

Overheating the console purposely is pointless. Anybody who has built their own computer knows how essential it is to make sure the system operates at a cool running temperature, and overheating is possibly the worst thing that can happen.

Trust me, my PSU has caught fire before. And I've killed a processor by forgetting to put the heatsink and fan on when test-booting.

I frankly don't know if they can or cannot detect these sorts of activities, but frankly, is it worth having your 360 sent back to you?

Though to be honest, it doesn't matter. If my 360 RRoD's, I'm trading it in and getting the new 60gig model.
