Hi, this is my first time posting here so if im doing somthing wrong feel free to hunt me down and stab me. Anyway i reeeeeallly need help on a problem i have been having, im doing a flash cartoon right now and have completely animated my first scene, it took a while. I then wanted to add sound, so i done it like i have with all the other little animations i had done before that WORKED FINE!. But this time the sound felt like being an asshole and is making the animation lag.

It happens as soon as it gets to the sound on the timeline and its about 1-2 seconds lag, it ruins the whole thing :(. I have the sound set to stream and its in a WAV format Like all the other little animations i have done and the sound worked fine. Really what im hoping for is for someone to come in and say "YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE THE **/%$^"3 button turned off YOU FOOL! HAHAHA!" becuase then i could atleast get back to making my cartoon, i don't want to have to start all over again.

If this has already been said and solved before, sorry, but please tell me the soloution before you kill me. ^_____^

Switch the movie to low or medium quality as soon as it loads.

If your sure the sound's making it lag, then
go to File, then Publish Settings.
Click on the flash tab,
And adjust the rate for Stream Sound.

And by adjust i mean, make the bit rate smaller so it'll lag less. :]
Hopefully this helps.

For some reason, streaming sounds doesn't work for me when using multiple scenes. It's always off for half a second. Did you by chance you scenes?

Easy way to solve it would putting in a movie clip and put the MC in one frame with the codes

 _root.stop();

in the first frame of the MC and

 _root.play();

in the last frame of the MC. Easy way of being organized. Just keep doing that down the line. Depends though, how you have it set up...

Damn! that sounded like it would work aswell :(. But sadly it didn't, i'll fiddle around with the settings a bit though, cuase it almost certainly is the sound, cuase without sound its perfecto. Your brilliant though it would of took me weeks to figure that out. :P

Not sure if it'll help in a short movie, but in long movies my sound often gets out of synch kind of thing.. it's not the same thing really, i know, but in case it helps, what i do is change the audio compression type to "ADPCM". Solves it straight away.

Good luck =p

Just click the sig, idiot.

First of all (sorry if i missed this) do you have a preloader? If not you can get some lovely preloaders on the Downloads page.

If that doesn't work (or you already had a preloader) try pressing File -> Save and Compact. Then test the movie.

If that doesn't work then search 'optimizing' in the Newgrounds search bar at the top of the page.

Hope that works,
Fidio
