that fancy new particle excelerator in france has caused a lot of contraversy, some say it'll cause tiny black holes and destroy the planet, others say it'll advance science, should it be fired up or not? what do you think of the large hadron colider (LHC)
throwing shaved squirrels at angry rabits will only result in hilarious situations, not the genetic binding of the two animals, :*(

Science is good, but i need to know what this science will accomplish before I would like to take the chance of everyone dying if it will cure every disease or stop global warming or some such thing sure why not, but if all it's supposed to do is look at some more stars in the sky then no, I Like living. though I'm not sure I'm good with it at any point.

There is a topic on this on the second page, with near enough the same title...
I could write out another rant, but I'll just say this instead:
Anyone who says the LHC is going to end the world doesn't understand what they're talking about.

Lol. Another genius who thinks global warming is real. No offense but if you did enough research you'd know how absurd the idea of global warming is. I'd tell you to read books more often but that's too hard for most. God forbid you go to a library.

well it might (really tiny and extremely short lived ones), but the thing is that black holes in real life are very different from those you see on TV or in the movies.

It might, though its unlikely.
Even if it does, it's not going to swallow up the Earth. The black holes would be so tiny that they'd evaporate via Hawking radiation in near an instant. And even if they didn't do that, their cross section for interaction would be so small they'd pass through the Earth without anyone noticing.

It might actually cause black holes. If it is possible create matter and it's opposite from machines like LHC, whats to say the matter and antimatter created won't create conditions nessecary for a black hole?
Though they would probably be at a molecular level in size, an average black hole is estimated to take in thousands of tons of matter daily. At that rate even these black holes, if created, could cause problems.
Hell, the reaction from antimatter and matter weighs in at about 2-3 hydrogen bombs per gram

Lol. Another genius still in denial. No offense, but if you did enough research you can see almost all scientists, besides a few on the fringe, actually believe in global warming. But I guess you know more than the majority of the scientific community don't you. Probably because you go to the library so much (I go once a week, how about you?) and check out books by some discredited fringe scientists who care more about making a political point than real science and research. God forbid you actually believe that nonsense.

No one's arguing with that. It's entirely possible, just quite unlikely. In fact, being able to study these micro black holes is actually quite an exciting prospect.
Though they would probably be at a molecular level in size, an average black hole is estimated to take in thousands of tons of matter daily. At that rate even these black holes, if created, could cause problems.
There's no 'probably' about it...they WOULD be tiny, and much smaller than molecules, I expect. A bit of black hole physics for you:
-Black holes DO NOT SUCK in the way sci-fi depicts. I can't stress that enough. A black hole's gravitational field is IDENTICAL to a normal star/planet/whatever so long as you are outside the surface of the star/planet/whatever.
-For a black hole to devour matter you need either an accretion disc (not going to happen on a small scale) or a head on collision (also not going to happen with such a small cross section for interaction).
-A black hole's accretion rate depends on its mass. Stellar mass and supermassive black holes devour so much because their gravitational field is large. Micro black holes have pretty much no gravitational field to speak of, so aren't going to "take in thousands of tons of matter daily."
Hell, the reaction from antimatter and matter weighs in at about 2-3 hydrogen bombs per gram
The key words there are 'per gram'. Protons have a mass of 10^-24 grams. You do the maths.

Weaponise for Earth sake, that is. Who knows what races are living out there and for how long they have lived?

Uh, what do you think makes any weapon that can destroy? Also that's pretty vague. It would be more ironic if a treatment they had meant to cure you of any disease killed you instead. Your example was terrible. It's so broad that you can substitute ANYTHING into it. Everything is pretty much science.

The funny thing is, the people against it have no idea what they are talking about. Any reliable science who knows that field knows its completely safe. Who are we to make random guesses about whether its good or not?

There's so many discussions going on about this subject for the wrong reasons. The world will not end. I will guarantee this. If it does end then I won't be here to be proved wrong. I will either way.

Actually, one of the reasons they built the LHC (it was scheduled to be finished on my birthday! forget if they actually finished it on time though... 11June?) was to create small scale black holes so that they could study them.
I don't think that you have to worry too much, though. In order for a black hole of that size to maintain itself, (i forget the actual calculations) it needs a massive amount of material - it has to take in more than it contains - and an enormous amount of heat, neither of which is likely to occur in the LHC. It just won't be able to grow, mostly because 1) they can't feed it and 2) there's nothing on this planet that can generate the heat needed to sustain it. It needs exponentially more heat the smaller it is, and we just can't procude that heat fast enough. Besides, I don't think that they remembered to install the Solar Thermal Generator Module at the LHC.
Random trivia though - it spans two countries, and it's not actually owned by France.

Meh, apparently, it is no cause for concern... Such reactions as those that will be produced have occurred millions of times naturally since the dawn of earth.

To be honest I think the idea of creating a mini black hole in a lab is a fucking stupid idea! I mean how many mini black holes have we observed in space? none! how many black holes have we seen grow? a few! and how many elements can we say wouldnt get sucked into a black hole and would allow the black hole to dissapear? not one!

I got nothing against science...that means if it can't harm people..even there is 0,0005% chance to even hurt the world we live in, I believe they should't do such high experiment. I mean come on! Im not even a bit interested to find about the past how the universe where created, or maybe im just a guy who are scared for the unknown and not going to move on forward in life.
But I at least care about things in my life which is important.

See this is great, a bunch of misinformed people talking about what they dont understand.
Go read a safety report, and scientist who studies this field laughs at the idea of the end of the world.
