I am not a fan of most internet memes. I enjoy and can find teh lulz in some of them, but most I couldn't care less.
However, it bugs me when I cannot understand the origins of one. Today's? The do a Rick Roll. At first I understood it as somebody trying to make a comeback, yet, I saw on you tube one that was misleading and it said "you have been rick rolled"....
So now I am confused, would somebody care to explain to me the concept or idea behind the rick roll? You can flame my noobness on this matter later, first answer the question seriously please.
i didn't even ask about the mudkipz and barrel roll so dont complain :)

According to a source I can't remember, it started out as Duck Rolling, which was a line of ducks on wheels rolling across the screen. Then someone decided to make a malicious script that locked you into the video of Rick Astley.
Makes no sense, but why should it?

It started on 4chan in a video game discussion. Someone linked to it and said it was the GTA4 trailer.
At least that's what I got from wiki when I googled 'rick roll.' ;)

I know it's an internet thing :S
it's not that I am "letting it get to me", I'm just a curious guy and I like knowing the "whys" of things. I have never considered myself internet-saavy, but I do use it on a regular basis and understand a lot of it, I'm not computer iliterate like that, I just do not understand some memes because of how stupid they are or because I was not net-active when they started.
