I think it is irresponsible for Obama to run for President. He has two very young children Malia Ann (10) and Sasha (7) at home who need him to be there for them to take care of them, help them with their homework, dress them, play with them and be a father for. It actually makes me kind of sick that a man would put himself ahead of his family like this. When his kids grow up into a life of delinquency we will know who to blame. Knowing Obama though he will probably spin it in his favor. How can one honestly expect him to be able to balance the requirements of being a father to two young children and be President?

Say no to Obama and yes to his children.

Yes it's moronic that the media attacks Palin for that same issue, dosen't mean she should be VP.

No, more of an attack on Obama supnlaporters or journalists who criticize Palin for having five children and the fact that being VP is not a mom-friendly job. I mean how far would I get if I made racist comments about why Obama's race will distract from being president? Why is it okay for Obama supporters to be sexist when it is a Republican woman running for office?

Yay because the opinion of the moronic media is exactly the same as all democrats.

You to distinguish, though, the fact that Obama's kids are neither infants, nor afflicted with debilitating congenital disorders.

I think five children is slightly more than 2, especially considering she's gonna be a grandma too.

Meh.

So? What does that have to do with anything? That is never a question that is asked of a man. Mitt Romney has five children and his ability to be president was never brought into question by this fact.

Essentially my friend, you've missed the point that JoS (and then I) have tried to make in this post: some Obama supporters are making a sexist assertion that Palin is wrong for running because she is the mother of five kids.

I mean what if I made a racist comment about Obama being black, and that being a reason he should not run? I would be banned from the forum, and with cause! So why is it okay for people to be biased and prejudicial when it is a Republican or a woman?

Finally, you do not have any leg to stand on. She's not a single mother, she has a husband. Why can't he stay home with the children?

Dude... Palin has 5 children, one of them with down syndrome so your argument pretty much fails. There have been plenty of presidents with children.

I dont think it was a sexist comment and making a comment saying Obama cannot run because he is black would not be anything like that. I think this arguement is pointless and the are much better reasons to not vote for either candidate.

Mitt Romney has far worse problems, like being a mormon and an idiot.
I can't imagine his kid situation would help him out either.

Meh, if we're gonna do the kid battle, I say the person with 5 kids and one grandkid loses BY FAR on any level that you think would matter.

Not my problem that people don't attack men for having a billion kids. I didn't attack her for having kids either, I don't really give a shit, but since someone brought it up trying to equate the two situations, I just have to say it's not the same.

Why can't he stay home with the children?

No reason.
Would you vote for a guy who has 5 kids and who lets his wife do all the raising while he works 100 hours a week running the country and traveling all over the world?

Clearly that's a retarded question, but would it add points, or subtract points?

No, it is the same thing as if I said Obama should not be president because of a racial stereotype that has been used historically to discriminate against blacks. In 1971 my mother was working for a regional retail store working for an Indian (not Native-American). She had worked her way up to the point that she was traveling the region to set-up new stores. This chain was purchased by Wal-Mart later in the 1970s, and the males my mother supervised went on to become regional managers and millionaires. But not my mother.

Why?

She got married. Was she pregnant? No. Did her upcoming marriage distract her from her job? No. Did she quit because she decided to pursue a lifelong dream of teaching children? No.

It was because she was getting married and her fucking boss thought that women should NOT work outside the house once they were married.

She had no recourse.

So you see arguments such as "she's a mother of five" have been used to keep women from entering the work force or getting promotions...just as other very distasteful biases and prejudices have been used to keep black in low paying jobs.

You are right this argument is not anything like saying Obama should not be president just because he is black...it isEXACTLY like that.

This is probably the majority opinion. Sure its not PC to hit kids, but maybe we need a president that isn't afraid to take a ruler to his kid's face. It gives us hope as Americans that if shit goes down, our president isn't afraid to hit all the Middle Eastern kids of the world, and maybe even the women. God Bless America.

Ahoy!

Regardless of what is all said on this topic, if I hear one more person say that Obama is not a suitable candidate for this country because he is black, I don't know what I'll do.
How is ignorance an opinion and if all you have against the guy is his skin color, then it is exactly citizens like you that fuck this country up.

Dude, the point is very few people are saying that Obama is not suitable because he is black. On this forum only a few bigoted trolls have really popped on to make this argument and got shot down by us regulars.

That is the point of this topic: no one is making a bigoted argument or suggestion against Obama, but it is OK to make a bigoted argument or suggestion against Palin.

Reality check; Palin is a mother of five and grandmother of one, and despite all this, she's on the campaign trail anyway, showing that she is able to handle the situation aptly. Her being a mother was not an issue enough to interfere with her job as mayor of Wascilla, Alaska, why is it being considered an issue now?
