Actually a shit-ton of "Emos" these days aren't emotionally distressed any more than a normal teenager gets emotionally distressed, sure that's quite a bit, but people managed to do it for..hundreds of thousands of years?

But in today's society with the instant gratification, the internet, our ipods, iphones, imacs, big macs, we've lost some character. Character is the ability to put up with shit. Teens put up with shit for hundreds of thousands of years, and now suddenly it's the end of their world because "Oh no, I can't buy that new Slipknot CD. I should cut myself because I can't stand the agony of being the only person in sk00 w/o it."

I did the same thing "Oh no, my gf broke up with me..we'd been going out 3 months and were going to get married. I should try to kill myself now because nobody has EVER broken up with their first love!" I'm still here, and I'm bitter bout the whole trying-to-kill-myself thing. Of course I was on a cocktail of prescription drugs from my psych, so that didn't help anything.

You don't learn to deal with shit til you deal with shit. Pills just put it off til you're ready.
